Title: Don't use Chinese stainless steel for cooking:
Post by Bobby. on May 3rd, 2026 at 4:18pm

Shocking! 95% of China’s Stainless Steel Cutlery is Fake!

The Whole Nation Is Eating Toxic Products

May 2, 2026

Recently, there's been a trend on Chinese social media where people are testing their stainless steel kitchenware at home. Many netizens have used heavy metal testing liquids on their pots, spoons, bowls, and plates, only to find that the liquids quickly turn red, confirming that the manganese content is dangerously high. The testing liquid reacts with high manganese steel, turning red, while real food-grade 304 and 316 stainless steel show no reaction.

Stainless steel grade for cooking is 304.

BTW, vintage glassware and ceramic glaze may contain uranium, it was added for tint, and when hot it will leak into food.

I have access to a Geiger counter -

I'll test: cutlery, pots, pans and plates etc and get back to the readers.

Silverware provides natural antibacterial and antimicrobial benefits that can help kill bacteria in food and boost the immune system. Silver knives and forks are effective against vampires as well.

Ha! Fat chance the Chinese would put silver into silverware!

Some Australian outback pubs still have old silverware.

Results:

I tested everything I've got - I had no Chinese pots and pans -

nothing above normal background of 15 to 40 cpm    ( counts per minute)

except:
a small crystal glass vase of unknown origin,  115 cpm,

one bread and butter plate made in China,  83 cpm,

another bread and butter plate - made in China,  98 cpm.

Placed on the most active part of a Chinese smoke detector 83 cpm.

You'd think that customs and border control would be responsible
for doing testing of products coming into Australia.
It seems that you can import any unsafe junk that you want with nothing to stop you.
You buy it then sell it to poor suckers.

I heard of steel contaminated with Boron coming from China for the last 30 years or more.
Boron makes steel too brittle.
China dumps such products below cost to destroy our steel industry.
Most BHP steel mills are closed down as a result.
Idiots here bought it -
now we have bridges and buildings made with it.
One day something will fall down and people will be killed.

And when China is called out on it, they throw a tantrum and embargo imports because they feel they've 'lost face'...

What face?

We know what China does to its own people... why would they care about foreigners?

To kill a zombie you have to destroy it's brain.
You may use a silver spoon to poke zombie into eye socket and scoop it's brain out.

Does that include what was called Vision glass cookware?

I have Jamie Oliver cutlery and Gordon Ramsey (Royal Doulton) stainless steel pots/pans
A long time ago I bought the Amway Queen s/s waterless cookware. I’ve still got it. They have a convex bottom to be able to acquire waterless cooking with only 2 tablespoons water
My latest edition is  Staub round cocotte. Cast iron with enamelled interior. Made in France

It's easy to tell if glass contains Uranium- even without a Geiger counter.
Turn off the lights and shine an ultraviolet torch light at the glass.
It will glow green if it contains Uranium.
Uranium glass is very rare so I doubt it.

Should be OK -
it's only cheap Chinese cookware that we need to worry about.

I recently bought a titanium frypan. Haven’t used it yet, but since they make parts for bodies with titanium, surely the cookware must be safe?
Never-the-less I have ordered that test liquid for $11 from Amazon. Once I get it, I will be testing everything. Then I come back here with my results, will be a couple weeks before I get it though.
Back later.

I'd bet the materials used to make cheap crockery and glassware are sourced from contaminated sites whose owners sell them to manufacturers at dirt-cheap prices.

The Chinese became capitalists but even worse than the worst capitalists -

anything to make an extra penny on every item they sell.

The speed at which China ditched Marxist-Leninist communism for authoritarian capitalism after it joined the WTO, when the Chinese realised they could become stratospherically rich, led the Chinese down a dark path to slave labour, mass corruption, and an explosion of their cultural instinct of chabuduo - fraudulently less quality, more quantity.

The central government imposed little to no regulations, being fixated on getting mega-rich quick... while entering into a contract with the people: 'Let us rule unchallenged, and we will let the billions roll in.'

And as I have said -
they do illegal price dumping at below cost to drive non-Chinese companies out of business.
How many steel mills are left in Australia?
BHP used to have many of them.

How many companies manufacturing stainless steel cookware are out of business?

For quite some time, I have been vigilantly avoiding “made in China” products.
There are other products non Chinese made to buy that aren’t expensive, some items are a bit more $ but buy a good product once and there be no long term consequences especially health wise, which are more costly!
I looked at my first s/s cutlery I’ve used since 1976 and it’s made in Japan. Whew!
My latest is Jamie Oliver cutlery.
I looked at steak knives I’ve got and it’s Wiltshire.
I will be testing all of them! Including s/s mixing bowls, pots, pans, etc
After hubby watched the YouTube (Bobby put up earlier) first thing hubby said is to get that liquid to test it. I said I’ve ordered it already!

The other thing that was crap was “exploding glass”…from China…coffee tables, outdoor bbq tables, anything glass made from China!

It's hard to avoid - go to Bunnings and 95% of everything is made in China.

I bought a tap cartridge 1 month ago from Bunnings here:
https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-35mm-mixer-tap-flat-cartridge_p0568630

It works well but I didn't know it was made in China
till I got it home but there was nothing else the right size.

It has infected every industry.
