Title: The Bible has 52 missing texts or Gospels
Post by Bobby. on May 2nd, 2026 at 8:38am

Mar 29, 2026

Gnostic Jesus is one of the most mysterious and controversial figures in early Christian history. Hidden within the Nag Hammadi texts, ancient manuscripts discovered in Egypt in 1945, are teachings that reveal a radically different message from the Jesus most people know.

These forgotten writings including the Gospel of Thomas, the Secret Book of John, and the Gospel of Judas suggest that Jesus did not come to create a religion, but to awaken humanity through gnosis, the direct knowledge of the divine within.

According to Gnostic teachings, the material world may be a prison created by lower cosmic rulers known as Archons, while the true divine source exists beyond the physical universe.

Why were these texts declared heresy and ordered to be destroyed by early church leaders?
What did the Gnostic Jesus actually teach about reality, the soul, and spiritual awakening?

In this video, we explore the hidden philosophy of Gnosticism, the secrets of the Nag Hammadi library, and the forbidden ideas that were buried for over 1600 years.

Some knowledge was never meant to be found.

Google AI:

The 52 texts discovered in 1945 at Nag Hammadi, Egypt, are not all gospels; they are a collection of 52 separate Coptic manuscripts belonging to the New Testament apocrypha and Gnostic writings.  These works were not "missing" in the sense of being hidden by the early church, but were rejected by early Christians as heretical and historically unreliable because they were written long after the apostolic era.

Key Facts About the Nag Hammadi Collection

Discovery: Found in a sealed clay jar by a farmer in December 1945, these 1,800-year-old texts were believed lost until their rediscovery caused significant controversy and speculation.
Content: The collection includes famous texts such as the Gospel of Thomas, Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Philip, and the Acts of Peter, among others.

Theological Conflict:

These gospels often present a Gnostic worldview, which contrasts sharply with the biblical narrative.  For example, Gnosticism typically views the material world and body as evil or illusory, whereas the biblical worldview sees them as good.  Additionally, Gnostic gospels often depict Jesus as a spiritual being who only appeared human, rather than being fully human and fully divine.

Historical Context: Scholars note that these writings were known to early church fathers like Irenaeus (c.  AD 180), who rejected them for containing fanciful and heretical ideas.  They were not suppressed by the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, which primarily addressed the nature of Christ’s divinity (Trinitarianism vs. Arianism) rather than the canon of the Gospels themselves.

Why They Are Not in the Bible

The canonical four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) were accepted because they were believed to be written by Jesus’s original followers or their close associates, providing the earliest and most reliable witnesses to Jesus’s life and teachings.  In contrast, the Nag Hammadi texts were dated to the second to fourth centuries AD, making them significantly later and lacking direct apostolic connection.

Where to Read Them

If you wish to read these texts, they are available through:

Academic translations such as Bart D. Ehrman’s Lost Christianities or The Other Gospels.
Online resources like the Nag Hammadi Library index (gnosis.org) or Early Christian Writings.
Books focusing on Gnostic gospels, such as Elaine Pagels’ The Gnostic Gospels.

Scripture must meet exacting criteria to be included in the Bible.
Based on what the “lost gospels” say about Jesus, they don’t make the cut.

One argument used by critics to try to discredit God’s Word is by asserting that the Bible was developed via a power struggle. Namely, that what’s included in the Bible — and conversely what was excluded — was determined by a handful of men who happened to wield political power at just the right moment in time. Novels like The Da Vinci Code popularize this idea, though the claim is as false as most of the “facts” in Dan Brown’s fictional tale.

As we have clearly demonstrated in earlier blog posts in this series, the formation of the Bible was the result of exacting scrutiny by many people over many years. The Council of Nicea (AD 325), for example, did not determine which books should be in the New Testament. Neither did the Roman emperor Constantine. The 39 books of the Old Testament form the Bible of Judaism; the Christian Bible adds the additional 27 books of the New Testament. This complete list of books was found “acceptable” because the Church deemed them to be divinely inspired books of truth.

As new manuscripts come to light, including the lost gospels, some scholars wish to ignore the exacting standards demanded by the New Testament Canon. You’ve likely heard the media promote their arguments for including these lost gospels in the Bible, which they assert is “truth” that “enhances” our knowledge of Jesus. (Are they Bible scholars? No.)

Let’s look at just four of these lost gospels, to help you see why they don’t belong in God’s Word — and why the Bible can be viewed as a historically accurate document, in large part because it has been so carefully vetted.

REJECTED GOSPELS AND TEXTS

There were dozens, probably hundreds, of religious texts circulating around at the time the Gospels were written and coming into common usage in the early centuries after the death of Christ. They include “The Gospel of Peter” , “Origins of the World” , “Gospel of Mary (Magdalene)” , “Acts of John” , “Homilies of Truth” and “The Gospel of Truth” . Many were simply written and forgotten. Others were carefully scrutinized by Christian scholars and rejected for one reason or another, in many cases because the doctrines they promoted were regarded as threatening or heretical.

The “Second Discourse of the Great Seth” declares that the true Christ was never crucified. “The Secret Book of John” claims that Adam and Eve received their divine spirit from a true God while the Old testament God hid the truth from mankind.

Some of the early texts were quite bizarre. One tells the story of the Garden of Eden from the snake’s point of view. Another uses the voice of a female spirit. Another features a description of the resurrection with a walking and talking cross; a stone tomb door that moves by itself; heads that stretch to the sky and a voice that asks, “Have you preached to those who are sleeping?”

The main Rejected Gospels that have generated interest among scholars and the general public include:
1) Gospel of Thomas;
2) Gospel of Mary;
3) Gospel of Judas;
4) Gospel of Philip;
5) Gospel of Peter;
6) Unknown Gospel: Egerton Papyrus 2; 7) Gospel of Q. [Source: gospels.net]

What right did the church have to exclude so many texts from the Bible?

And also why was the exclusion kept secret for over 1,600 years?

I didn't know about it till recently.

Quote:
A heresy is a belief or doctrine that is considered to be false or erroneous by one or more Christian denominations, i.e. what is believed to be contrary to the teaching of Christianity. Heresies have been a major source of division and conflict within Christendom throughout its history. Christian churches have responded to heresies in a variety of ways, including through theological debate, excommunication, and even violence.

Early Christian heresies were foundational doctrinal disputes (1st–5th centuries) that defined orthodox Christian belief, primarily focusing on the nature of Christ (Christology) and the Trinity. Major heresies included Gnosticism (dualism), Arianism (denying Christ's full divinity), Docetism (claiming Christ’s body was an illusion), and Nestorianism, often addressed in early Ecumenical Councils

And what remains is a collection of contradictions and fantasies about the person of Jesus.

The fact is, almost nothing of Jesus' person, life and acts was recorded during his lifetime or even directly after... they were dreamed up or taken from oral traditions many decades later.

The only facts about Jesus agreed upon as true are:

He was born roughly around the time recorded (even if the Christian narratives disagree on the era).

He was a Jew.

He preached about the 'Kingdom of God' on earth.

He was crucified by the Romans for sedition against Rome.

Quote:
Key Early Christian Heresies:
Gnosticism (2nd Century): Taught that salvation comes from secret knowledge (\(gnosis\)) rather than faith, and often viewed the physical world as evil, created by a lesser deity.

Arianism (4th Century): Led by Arius, this view held that Jesus Christ was a created being, not eternally divine, famously condemned at the Council of Nicaea (325 AD).

Docetism (1st–2nd Centuries): Derived from the Greek dokein ("to seem"), it taught that Jesus only seemed to have a human body and did not actually suffer physical death.

Marcionism (2nd Century): Founded by Marcion, it rejected the Old Testament and believed the God of the Hebrew Bible was a harsh creator, distinct from the loving God of Jesus.

Montanism (2nd Century): A prophetic movement emphasizing new revelations, strict asceticism, and the imminent end of the world.Donatism (4th Century): A rigorist movement in North Africa arguing that sacraments administered by "lapsed" priests who had renounced faith under persecution were invalid.

Nestorianism (5th Century): Taught that Jesus was two distinct persons (human and divine) rather than one person with two natures, leading to the rejection of Mary as Theotokos (God-bearer).

Pelagianism (4th-5th Centuries): Argued that humans could achieve moral perfection through free will, denying the necessity of original sin and divine grace

@Reply #5,

bobby,

My experience, is that if a person will read and study God's Word [and for me, that is the KJV bible],
then, the/my bible will often [itself] speak to me [i.e. it will often speak to my psyche].

God's Holy bible......in is a living 'artefact'.....[its existence is dedicated, to mankind's well being,
and spiritual restoration
].

It has a definite SPIRIT, within its pages.

.....you, may disagree.

Psalms 25:12
What man is he that feareth the LORD?
him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

.

bobby,

I will let you do your own research, in to 'missing bible texts'.

And you [and others], can decide [make your own choices] for yourselves.

That is fair.

And so the Gospels according to Karnal and gweggy were culled.

Mark 13:19
For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
20  And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved:
but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
21  And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ;
or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

If a man love me, he will keep my words:

By this we know that we love the children of God,
when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments:
and his commandments are not grievous.

I watched to 14 minutes [not the full 47 min].

bobby,

The path to LIFE......is in the WORD of God.

bobby,

In the days of Jesus, the OT scripture [which Jesus frequently quoted]
was the only scripture there was.

They were, the Jewish scriptures.

They were referred to by Jesus as
"Moses and the prophets" or
"the law and the prophets" or
"the law and to the testimony".

Jesus, said that he [being one with the Father] had authorship of those Jewish scriptures....through the hand of Moses and the prophets.
    see 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

The WORDS of GOD are truth/true......and were written down,
by Moses and the prophets, and copied by Jewish scribes.

Jesus also said, that 'the law and the prophets'.....spoke of him and of his coming,
as the anointed one,
as the saviour, of his people.

As the scriptures had foretold.

Isaiah 43:10
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen:
that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he:
before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
     11  I, even I, am the LORD;
     and beside me there is no saviour.

Hosea 13:4
     ......I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me:
     for there is no saviour beside me.
5  I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
6  According to their pasture, so were they filled;
they were filled, and their heart was exalted;
therefore have they forgotten me.

When Jesus 'arrived', as their anointed one [their saviour],
he was not 'recognised', by his own 'holy' people.

John 5:37
And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me.
     Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
     38  And ye have not his word abiding in you:
     for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39  Search the scriptures;
for in them ye think ye have eternal life:
     and they are they which testify of me.
40  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41  I receive not honour from men.
     42  But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
     43  I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not:
if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

The O.T. scripture warns us all......that if the 'doctrines',
followed 'by the people',
or promoted 'by the church',
do not align with God's own statutes and precepts and judgments,
then that is because they come from that 'other' spiritual 'authority'.

Not.....from God.

Isaiah 8:20
To the law and to the testimony:
     if they speak not according to this word,
it is because there is no light in them.

Psalms 119:4
Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

Psalms 119:15
I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

Psalms 119:27
Make me to understand the way of thy precepts:
so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

Psalms 119:40
Behold, I have longed after thy precepts:
quicken me in thy righteousness.

Psalms 119:45
And I will walk at liberty:
for I seek thy precepts.

Do you remember [know] Gods name bobby ?

Psalms 119:55
     I have remembered thy name, O LORD,
in the night, and have kept thy law.
56  This I had, because I kept thy precepts.

Psalms 119:63
I am a companion of all them that fear thee,
and of them that keep thy precepts.

Psalms 119:69
The proud have forged a lie against me:
but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

Psalms 119:78
Let the proud be ashamed;
for they dealt perversely with me without a cause:
but I will meditate in thy precepts.

Psalms 119:87
They had almost consumed me upon earth;
but I forsook not thy precepts.

Psalms 119:93
I will never forget thy precepts:
for with them thou hast quickened me.

Psalms 119:94
I am thine, save me;
for I have sought thy precepts.

Psalms 119:100
I understand more than the ancients,
because I keep thy precepts.

Psalms 119:104
Through thy precepts I get understanding:
therefore I hate every false way.

Psalms 119:110
The wicked have laid a snare for me:
yet I erred not from thy precepts.

Psalms 119:128
Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right;
and I hate every false way.

Psalms 119:134
Deliver me from the oppression of man:
so will I keep thy precepts.

Psalms 119:141
I am small and despised:
yet do not I forget thy precepts.

Psalms 119:159
Consider how I love thy precepts:
quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness.

Psalms 119:168
I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies:
for all my ways are before thee.

Psalms 119:173
Let thine hand help me;
for I have chosen thy precepts.

Q.
The statutes and precepts, of God ?

[Jesus said]....
John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Matthew 19:17
[Jesus said].....if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18  He saith unto him, Which?
Jesus said,
Thou shalt do no murder,
Thou shalt not commit adultery,
Thou shalt not steal,
Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19  Honour thy father and thy mother: and,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

John 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

.

And i am Yadda......a sinner before God......seeking His mercy.

In Jesus name.

because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock,
but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;
9  Therefore, O ye shepherds, hear the word of the LORD;
10  Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Behold, I am against the shepherds;
and I will require my flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock;
neither shall the shepherds feed themselves any more;
for I will deliver my flock from their mouth, that they may not be meat for them.

John 10:9
I am the door:
     by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
     11  I am the good shepherd:
     the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12  But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth:
and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13  The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
     14  I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
     15  As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father:
     and I lay down my life for the sheep.

John 14:4
........whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest;
and how can we know the way?
6  Jesus saith unto him,
     I am the way, the truth, and the life:
     no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Yadda should have been a hellfire and brimstone preacher in a local church. :)

Jesus, said that he [being one with the Father] had authorship of those Jewish scriptures....through the hand of Moses and the prophets.
    see 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

No, that's what Paul said.

So what do you believe?

Quote:
Before the Big Bang

there was no up

there was no down

there was no side to side

there was no light

there was no dark

nor shape of any kind

there were no stars or planet Mars

or protons to collide

there was no up

there was no down

there was no side to side

and furthermore to underscore this total lacking state

there was no here

there was no there

because there was no space

and in this endless void which can’t be thought of as a place

there was no time

and so no passing minutes, hours, days

of all the paradoxes

that belabour common sense

I think this one’s the greatest

this time before events

because how did we go from nothing

to infinitely dense?

from immeasurably small

to inconceivably immense?

but before we get unmoored from the question at the start

let’s take a breath and marvel

at when math becomes an art

because we don’t have to understand it

to know there was a time

when there was no up

there was no down

there was no side to side

Quote:
But wait, my friend
Let's not pretend
That nothing was the guide

For in this void
Something stirred
A Force we can't describe

A spark of life
A Guiding Hand
To Whom we can attribe

The marvels
Of the universe
In all its great design

So I believe
Outside Big Bang
There is a greater Mind

Beyond the world
We understand
That challenge human pride
