Title: When is a joke not a joke? Post by Captain Nemo on Apr 28th, 2026 at 10:48am
Yeah, fair call ... this so-called comedian should stop with the hateful remarks.
Melania and Donald Trump call for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired in latest attack on ABC host First lady accuses the comedian of ‘hateful and violent rhetoric’ in aftermath of White House press dinner shooting Jimmy Kimmel and Melania Trump. Composite: ABC, AFP, Getty Images In the aftermath of the White House correspondents’ dinner shooting, Melania Trump accused Jimmy Kimmel of “hateful and violent rhetoric” and said it was “time for ABC to take a stand” against the comedian who has long been critical of Donald Trump and his policies. The first lady appeared to be referring to a monologue by a Kimmel broadcast on Thursday, well before the Saturday attack on the White House correspondents’ dinner, in which he referred to Melania Trump as an “expectant widow” in remarks otherwise largely about the Trumps’ connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Kimmel’s comment came during a skit parodying he White House correspondent’s dinner, in which the ABC host pretended to be the event’s MC. “Our first lady Melania is here,” he said. “So beautiful, Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” Melania Trump’s criticism follows an episode last September where ABC suspended Kimmel after Brendan Carr, the pro-Trump chair of the Federal Communications Commission, threatened the network for jokes the comedian made about the president. The incident sparked an uproar amid allegations that Carr was attacking the constitutional right to free speech, and ABC later brought Kimmel back on air. In her post on X, Melania Trump said: “Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. “A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.” Donald Trump weighed in a few hours later in a Truth Social post, recounting Kimmel’s speech and the first lady’s post. “I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC,” he posted. The Trumps’ call for Kimmel’s ouster comes as critics of the Trump administration highlight the violent rhetoric from the White House and from the president over the years, including when he called on a crowd to “knock the crap out” of protesters and urged supporters to “fight like hell” after his 2020 election defeat. Meanwhile, some other Republicans also weighed in on Kimmel both before and after the post. “I am so deeply sick of Jimmy Kimmel and the hate he spreads in the world,” Meghan McCain said in a post on X. The Guardian has reached out to Kimmel’s press team for comment. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/apr/27/melania-trump-jimmy-kimmel-abc-spat |

Well done, Jimmy [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Hilarious, as usual. “Our first lady Melania is here,” he said. “So beautiful, Mrs Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” Yes, because he's so old and so sick - he'll die from natural causes very soon. |

Kimmel could say Trump looks old and we'd still see Trump calling for him to be fired. Besides that, we all know that Trump has said far, far worse many more times.

They'll stick a hand up him to keep him going as prez though, Greggery. Melania's hawking that hideous brand of hers, doing everything she can to make a buck. If this means she has to drop the big fella in it over the Epstein files, it's all good. We wouldn't want the Melania brand tainted over any of that Epstein nonsense, thank you very much. On this point, Melania has made herself perfectly clear. She'll have her day in court too. She's sued Michael Wolf for saying Jeff introduced her to the big fella, so we'll need to wait and see what happens. Discovery should be most curious. Melania will need to explain when and where she met DL, how he wound up porking her on Epstein Airlines and why she had such jolly emails with Ghislaine, who the big fella wishes well. They were good friends back in his Palm Beach days, no? DEEP STATE !!! |

He hates all of this. He hates it, but the man's, uh. He reads poetry outloud, all right?... He likes you 'cause you're still alive. He's got plans for you. No, no, I'm not gonna help you. You're gonna help him, man... I mean, what are they gonna say, man, when he's gone, huh? 'Cause he dies when it dies, man. When it dies, he dies. What are they gonna say about him? What are they gonna say? He was a kind man? He was a wise man? He had plans? He had wisdom? Bullshit, man! Am I gonna be the one that's gonna set them straight? Look at me. Wrong! - you. |

'It's Not My Job To Be Funny,' Says Comedian
Jimmy Kimmel, whose job title is "host of a late-night comedy show," explained to listeners that he is not paid to do comedy. "I don't know where people get the idea that comedy shows are supposed to be funny," said Kimmel to podcast host Michelle Obama. "People have this weird misconception that because I receive a salary to be a comedian, that somehow it's my job to make people laugh. Then, when I spend the entire show screaming and weeping, they say, 'Hey! You're not doing your job!' It's absurd." Kimmel assured listeners that it's not his job as a comedian to make people laugh, just like it's not a plumber's job to fix a toilet. "If I pay a plumber to come fix my sink, it's not the plumber's job to fix my sink," explained Kimmel. "What if he wants to go bowling, or just cry on my couch for a while? That's his prerogative." At publishing time, the band for Kimmel's late-night show had decided it was no longer their job to play music. |

Oh, he's chasing her. Cease and desist, Melania said. Or else. Or else what? Michael said. Or else you'll have to pay us a $bil. A $bil? Michael said. That's against my constitutional rights. Sounds pretty illegal to me to threaten people with censorship, no? Do you people have no shame? ... Sorry? Michael said. ... No worries, he said. I'll sue you. You can tell me why you want me to stop talking about how you met DL. See you in court, dearie. So that's that. Melania has to put up and shut up. Or else. |

Here’s the ridiculous thing. Kimmel made the joke literally days before this incident occurred. The orange felon and his wife said nothing then. Suddenly, after the shooting, they’re outraged and want him fired? This is selective outrage at its finest!

There's just so much hatred these days for pollies and their wives.
Is it the fault of the Twitter (X) and /or Facebook generation? I dunno. I'm sick of it. |

When you listen to Trump and see what he does, you understand that much of the violence directed at Trump is a product of what he has said and done. I'm not saying political violence is acceptable, just calling it for how it really is. |

Well, yes, Trump is indeed a horrible person, but they could leave Melania out of it.
But the general political tone is quite rabid around the world of late. |

Indeed. He's almost 1500% to blame. And Melania shouldn't be off limits - by remaining married to him she's condoning his crimes and violent rhetoric. She's just as bad as him. And the same goes for Cheryl Hines - I used to like her, but now she's just another horrible MAGA bride. Every day she stays with Mr Worm Brain is just another day she condones this administration's violent, criminal and immoral behaviour. |
