Title: Green nonsense.
Post by aquascoot on Apr 26th, 2026 at 8:27am
So the wife's hospital management had 2 million to spend on an upgrade.

As the surrounding population has nearly doubled to 60,000 in the last decade, clinical staff asked for an extra 2 bays in casually .and an extra EN in casualty.

Another suggestion was a CT scanner.

Now currently this small country hospital is on bypass half the time and so ambulances have to drive 60 km to the nearest metro hospital.

And if anyone in casualty or an admitted patient needs a CT scan , then it's a 120 km round trip with a nurse escort and 2 paramedics , so you can imagine what that costs in terms of wages, tying up ambos and clinical staff.

But management  instead has decided to spend the money on 6 new EV charging bays in the hospital car park.

I doubt there are 6 staff with an EV and the ambos certainly don't have one.

Nett cost to the climate ?
Heaps as a steady stream of patients and relatives drive the extra 120 km round trip , not to mention the delay in treatment, possibly life threatening.

Oh and there have been 6 , yes 6 deaths on the overcrowded local 2 lane roads which connect the 2 hospitals , in the last fortnite.  Double the population, have crappy 2 lane 100 kph roads connecting them. Put in no overtaking lanes and " voila".

But at least the population have their virtuous EV charging bays  :( :(

Why on earth would a medical department go into the electrical business. Something tells me this is a perk for the management at the hospital, they will get to charge their cars for free paid with our taxes meant for the health system.

Is it a public charging station, or just for staff?

What I would like to know is - how does installing 6 EV charging bays cost 2 million dollars?

Even at grossly overinflated government prices.

I assume this is a public (government run) hospital?
