Sleepy Joe pardoned all those who'd been threatened by the prez-elect with LAWFARE. As soon as DL made that little election promise, all bets were off. Joe was obliged to preemptively pardon the lot, as you'd expect.

I hope that the Democrats will bring in an independent pardon office when they retake the White House at the next Presidential election so that no President can ever misuse pardons ever again as Trump has so disgracefully and corruptly done. There needs to be a change whereby the President of the day can only recommend pardons but not issue them himself without oversight, as has been the case with Trump. It is a travesty that Trump was able to pardon everyone who stormed the Capitol on January 6 and that he still tries to rewrite the history of the shameful behaviour of his supporters on that day.
