United States President Donald Trump has been accused of another "TACO" (Trump Always Chickens Out) moment, backing down on a threat to "obliterate" Iran's power plants if it didn't open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.

After making the ultimatum at the weekend, the deadline was about to run out for Trump, with Iran showing no signs it would yield to the threat.

In fact, Tehran was ready to escalate the fight, firing back with a threat of its own to hit Israel's power plants and those that supply US bases in the Gulf.
