A lead fragment the size of a grain of rice is lethal to a mature bald eagle, meaning that a standard 150-grain lead bullet can poison 10 eagles, the Foundation said.

The Foundation noted most exposure is the result of lead ammunition found in harvested animal remains that are left in the field or abandoned fishing equipment. It recommends ending the use of lead ammunition.
