Title: Aldi
Post by Gordon on Mar 19th, 2026 at 8:22am
Haven't been to an Aldi for about a month, but the regular one I went to yesterday installed an exit gate system where you have to print a receipt from the self checkout and scan it at the gate to let you out.

They had one normal checkout working with a long line, mostly oldies who can't use self checkout, half the self checkouts were offline so after waiting for about 5 mins to scan/pay for a few items I was met with the stupid gate system.

The self checkouts were not printing the exit ticket properly, and the poor Aldi staff member didn't have an over-ride to open the gate. So about 5 people were trapped by the gate. I said to Aldi dude, in 10 seconds I'm either going over, or thu this gate .

He said please kick it down. He was at wits end. He ended up just opening a different lane to let people out.

Bye bye Aldi.

I recon it is highly likely that the gate was sabotaged by colesworth hackers.

I was going to ask - how do you get out if you go in and can't find what you want and are leaving emptyhanded?

Dumb idea Aldi.
