Title: Formula 1 2026
Post by Baronvonrort on Mar 5th, 2026 at 2:53pm
Albert Park GP this weekend

Ch 10 should have coverage starting Friday

New engine and aero rules so FP1 and FP2 Friday early pace will show who has it right with design.

Honda engine in Aston Martin has severe vibration issues which destroys the battery talk is unlikely to finish.
Honda should figure it out might take a few races.

Christ almighty -
I'd have to study that for 1 month to work out what
they are actually driving.
It's got nothing to do with your family sedan.   :-[

Formula 1 rules have lost the plot.

It should be say a V10 internal combustion engine - they sound great -
using 100 octane fuel and a minimum of regulations.

Now it's 50% internal combustion (with fuel made from municipal waste) and 50% electric.

It's all woke homosexual nonsense taking over a real man's sport - motor racing.

Oscar fastest after FP1+FP2 Mercedes 2nd and 3rd fastest.

Mercedes engine powers top 3 Lando had a bad day going by Oscars performance Merc engine should be top 4 cars.

Ferrari and Red Bull next not much between them.

Rules say max 16:1 compression ratio with Turbo engine which shows biofuel must be something special.

Comp ratio measured at room temp Mercedes using thermal expansion to raise it to 18:1 at operating temp.

Cars look pretty good.

Toto said Ford engine is best in Bahrain test Max said Mercedes were sandbagging and watch how fast they go in Melbourne.
Looks like Max was right. :)

I'm predicting Mercedes will do well this weekend - Russell & Antonelli.

I think Antonelli will adjust to the changes better than most.

I'd like to see Piastri win, though.

Qualifying at 1pm Perth time today (4pm in Melbourne).

Will Piastri get pole, or will it be Antonelli or Russell?

It was:

1. Russell

2. Antonelli

3. Hadjar

4. Leclerc

5. Piastri

6. Norris

Well done to Hadjar.

Poor old Max crashed out   :(

Should be a good race tomorrow.

I'm sticking with Mercedes (Russell & Antonelli), but would still like to see Oscar win in his home town.

Piastri is out before the race even started   :(

He crashed on the first formation lap.

The fans at the track will be devastated.

Pole position time was 3.5 seconds slower than last year.

Mercedes having 8/10s of a second in qualifying over next team is huge as shown by Kimi dropping to 7th then recovering for 2nd.

Other Mercedes powered teams unlikely to have same engine tune program as factory team which is why they were so far off the pace.
It's not unusual for factory suppliers to give slightly inferior equipment to customers.

Pecking order looks like
Mercedes
Ferrari
Red Bull
McLaren

If Mercedes still have a big gap in China then George should win championship

It takes a special kind of stupid to crash out on the way to the starting grid.  ;D
