Dunning Kruger effect
A type of cognitive bias, where people with little intelligence assume they have superior intelligence, expertise, or abilities. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they don’t have enough knowledge to know that they don’t have enough knowledge. Some examples are : “I alone can fix it.” " I have the best grades." “There’s nobody bigger or better at the military than I am.” “I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me…" “Let me tell you, I’m a really smart guy." "Nobody builds walls better than me, believe me." "Nobody knows more than me." "Nobody knows the system better than I do." "I know words, I have the best words." |

While the Dunning-Kruger effect can yield those kinds of responses, they're more about narcissism than Dunning-Kruger. The worst kind of narcissists don't care if they can't do what they claim... the important thing is that they get you to believe they can. The Dunning-Kruger effect affects almost everyone who's ever been motivated to try something, learn something or do something unfamiliar. Is there anyone with lived experience who doesn't look back and laugh at how much they once were 'convinced' they knew in their 20s? |

It has a lot in common with people suffering from TDS. I see it here in so many of the comments. |

If you run a business and suffer from dunning Kruger, you get destroyed.
Because people won't let you get away with selfish arrogant shiiiit. If you are a public servant, an intellectual. An online keyboard warrior, you can be a total narcissist troll. Zero consequences for your stupidity. It's why the business owner is always the smartest guy. He goes broke if he doesn't consider other people. I own 2 ;) |

'Forbes has assessed DJ wealth, currently estimating it at $6.5 billion as of February 2026.'
Honesty is best and if you can fake that, you're made. |

Narcissism and the Dunning-Kruger effect are not the same. Yes, narcissists can also be victims of the Dunning-Kruger effect, but usually they don't care that they can't do what they say they can... Their point is to have you believe they can, to manipulate you. Everyone, at some point in their life, overestimates their ability to perform a task or succeed. I'd bet you've met any number of honest but failed business owners who misjudged the market, overestimated their abilities to run a business, or just didn't take caution by reining in their over-optimism. |

Title: Re: Dunning Kruger effect Post by Bobby. on Feb 17th, 2026 at 7:57am Most people have the Dunning Kruger effect - otherwise they would never have an opinion about anything in forums such as Ozpol. Often it's those who know the least who have the loudest opinion. |

All of Sprint's quotes are direct quotes from Trump, so... yep... he suffers from Trump Devotion Syndrome... But that's not Dunning-Kruger, it's malignant narcissism. Trump doesn't care that it's sh!t; he only cares that people believe the sh!t, or go along with it and make like they believe it. |
