Quote:
In handing down his sentence, Magistrate Reg Marron said that in January 2023, Mr Elphinstone conducted vegetation clearing without a permit at a property at Little Swanport on Tasmania's east coast.

Magistrate Marron said Mr Elphinstone did not damage, deface, or remove the artefact, but interfered with it.

But he told the court that Mr Elphinstone "ought to have known the area was a significant site".

The court heard that the clearing of the area was undertaken due to damage caused by trespassers, not for farming.

So what did he actually do?

Picked up the VB cans, I'd say.  What utter rubbish.

What was the 'significance' of the 'site' on his land (I presume)?

Perhaps he "interfered" with them spiritually, on account of his skin colour.
