“ Global Comparison
According to data from April 2025, Australia's average egg prices surpass many other nations:
Australia: ~$7.63 USD per dozen
United States: ~$7.12 USD per dozen
New Zealand: ~$6.74 USD per dozen
Switzerland: ~$6.50 USD per dozen
Canada: ~$2.87 USD per dozen
UK: ~$4.45 USD per dozen
For comparison, some of the cheapest eggs in the world are found in countries like Pakistan ($1.16 USD) and India ($1.56 USD). ”

How?

Our eggs taste no better or worse.

Why do we pay so much?

Bird flu.

We lost almost 2 million hens in 2024.

Supply and demand.

I blame the American company AVIAGEN which I once worked for.
They own 90% of the global market and came to Australia to conquer.
The bought out Inghams when I was with them and having sneakily read Aviagen emails. The American mindframe of business is evil, childish and despicable.
I warned Biata, Struggles and other Australian Poultry Companies that Aviagen wants them gone because Americans, like China, Nihon, etc. Can't compete fairly.
Last I heard, the Australian Companies rallied together to some success.
But that was back around 2011.
I don't know what it's like now?

Many of the country’s listed as the cheapest have suffered bird flu?

It’s interesting the supply and demand business model in Australia.

Prices go  up due to lack of supply but never come down when supply levels return to normal in my experience?

Ok, this might explain the why we have the most expensive eggs in the world.

Jasin how many chickens did you “ sexting “ and do you understand that touching a chicken inappropriately will put them off laying?

I can only hope you wash your hands afterwards 😱

USA: Food is cheap, but also saturated with low quality.
Aust: Food is expensive, but higher standards.

While a homeless person in USA can get a big burger for a $1
A snooty Lefty Aussie will pay $40 for parsley on a plate at Potts Point.

I can't stand Chicken 🐔🍗 anymore.
But I do love my eggs still and get them from a local kit farmer for $8 but they are high quality and golden orange yoke. Not supermarket yellow yoke.
I have raw egg for the brain and poached egg white for the body.

It's the average price of a dozen eggs from 2022 to 2025 - not the cheapest price they can find today.

Eggs have been as high as $15 during that period, and that obviously raises the average.

Ha! I'm not the one buying eggs from Supermarkets that get them from Mass Production companies like Aviagen that fumigates the eggs x5 with FORMALDEHYDE in the setters which penetrate the shells with at the highest, results in a 75% rate of chick deformities when hatched.🤪🥴😜
They also needle in a dose of ANTIBIOTICS at least once into the adolescent chickens that are crowded in non-sunlit sheds and just fed chemically enhanced grain feed.

Chinese restaurants in Sydney & Melbourne also but male chicks and sell them as QUAIL for the suckers.

History:

During WW2 in England, egg rations were strictly limited, typically to one fresh egg per person per week, with special allowances for children, invalids, and expectant mothers, supplemented by dried egg powder (1 packet every 4 weeks, equal to 12 eggs) from the US, as fresh eggs were scarce due to import difficulties and wartime farming impacts, forcing people to get creative with substitutes or even raise backyard chickens for unrationed eggs.

Only on poached. I enjoy my raw eggs  which is when I can enjoy the natural golden taste of the yoke the most. Cooking the egg slightly lessens the yoke taste but brings up the protein factor of the white.

Both Celtic and Himalayan salt are primarily sodium chloride and contain the same handful of major mineral groups (including compounds of magnesium, potassium, and calcium), not differing in the fundamental categories present.

The difference lies in the reported number of trace elements and their specific concentrations.
Himalayan salt is often claimed to contain around 84 trace minerals and elements. Its pink color comes from its iron content.

Celtic salt is often claimed to contain around 82 trace minerals or 34-75 trace elements. It is higher in magnesium and calcium than Himalayan salt, which contributes to its moist, greyish color and texture.

However - there is ONE Australian Salt 🧂 which is Equal or better - https://tasmanseasalt.com.au/?srsltid=AfmBOoqsSZaVsDPQdmNgMZb1a7PRZeDGjBHBeiLasv0wNLfUq4Usofxg

The only catch is price … but as far as quality is concerned it is top notch…

Learn something every day.
I've always gone Himalayan Salt only because I've been all around the Himalayas. It's the only thing I had to base a choice on.
But our Australian Salt looks like quality stuff.
I buy both Australian and New Zealand Seaweed sprinkle and products.
I helped install a pool for a Seaweed Enterprise here in Australia.
I saw them on Catalyst and was knocking on their door the next day.

No way would I digest Seaweed products from Asia, even Nihon.
They aquaculture their seaweed in polluted estuaries - filthy.

EGGS are a Super Food

They give us 60% useable energy - compared to Meat which we only get 20% of useable Energy.

You couldn’t live off Meat alone - But Eggs, you definitely could…

Eggs HAVE:

-Vitamins A, D, E & K
-Omega-3
-Iron
-Calcium
-Potassium
-Zinc
-Thiamine
-Riboflavin
-Choline
-Folate
-Lutein
-Lecithin

Cooked meat way back in the Age of Yorr when every caveman's name was Ug.
Caused a major biological change in us humans and our development.
Sure, scavenging raw meat also made a big change when we became omnivores. But cooked meat really did bring about the big change in brain development.

Pecca doesn't know,

there is very little nutrition in vegetables -
that's why: cows, goats and sheep have to eat all day long
to get enough nutrition to survive.

A meat eater like a cat or dog just has one small meal a day.   ::)

Himalayan or Celtic…….

Period…..

My main breakfast is 3 Eggs, Mrs has 2 and Granddaughter has 1….

6 Eggs every weekday…

What is the difference between Australian and Himalayan or Celtic salt, what benefit is there?.

How about this one - Murray River Salt? It's a pink salt.

FYI… Himalayan Salt comes from Pakistan..

Yes a bit misleading - the mines are are actually in the village of Khewra in Pakistans Punjab - it's not in the Himlayas at all. They just named the salt after the nearby mountain range.

EGGS are a Super Food

They give us 60% useable energy - compared to Meat which we only get 20% of useable Energy.

You couldn’t live off Meat alone - But Eggs, you definitely could…

Eggs HAVE:

-Vitamins A, D, E & K
-Omega-3
-Iron
-Calcium
-Potassium
-Zinc
-Thiamine
-Riboflavin
-Choline
-Folate
-Lutein
-Lecithin

Which all makes perfect sense.

Meat is decaying flesh, whereas an egg contains all the components necessary to support the development of an embryo.

It's designed to promote life.

Meat is the result of the loss of life - it tastes good, but isn't really all that good for you.

Yet man has been eating meat for 2.6 million years. Raw meat until Homo Erectus discovered how to control fire 800,000 yrs ago.

Quote:
Increased Reliance & Hunting (Around 2 Million Years Ago)

*Homo erectus:

By about 2 million years ago, meat consumption became more regular, with Homo erectus transitioning from scavenging to active hunting.

*Dietary Shift:

This shift towards meat provided essential fats and proteins, crucial for the development of larger brains and smaller guts, a key evolutionary change.

The Turning Point:

Fire (Around 800,000 Years Ago)

*Cooking: Controlling fire allowed humans to cook meat, making it safer, more digestible, and unlocking more nutrients, fueling rapid brain growth.

Advanced Tools:

Evidence from caves in Spain shows humans were butchering animals at least 800,000 years ago, using tools for dismemberment.

In essence, while occasional meat-eating started millions of years ago, it became a fundamental part of the human diet with the development of tools, hunting, and cooking, profoundly influencing our evolution.

So yeah nah Peccar - it was an essential part of human evolution & development.

It was & still is good for us.

That would be the Karakorum Mountains then.
Where Pakistani men like Karnal chase after mountain goats in hope of cracking into a ram.

Well, I'm not going to buy this BS fake Himalayan salt anymore.
I feel dirty. It's as if Karnal has intruded in on my house.

Our very early plant eating ancestral branches looked squatty because plant digestion was more active in the lower gut. When we scavenged raw meat, we became more erect in posture as meat digests higher up in the gut. When we learned to cook meat, our brains began to grow.
They've discovered a Neanderthal 'fire hearth' in Britain this year.

Anyone had poached Emu egg?

Emu meat is the highest quality of meat in the world (with Dolphin).

"The best beef is emu", I had it when was working in bush and still buy it in specialty store but don't like emu eggs as much.

I buy "Himalayan salt" cheap in rural supply store, they sell it in big chunks for cattle and horses to lick.

Holiday Premium - the supermarkets cashing in....

As I laid out for yez a week or so ago about mass immigration causing an extra number of 'consumers' placing pressure on supply and thus raising prices .... here in Resortville there are a couple of annual rushes of Outlanders who sop up all the eggs and stuff from the supermarkets - increased market forces on supply, you understand - giving the supermarkets the opportunity to raise prices due to short supply.

Once they are gone it takes a while for 'market forces' to begin to exert downward pressure on pricing due to lack of people sopping up all the eggs ... in the meantime the supermarkets are lapping it up.... as usual.

They PLAN things this way... knowing that the supermarkets where the Bloody Tourists come from will run pretty much as normal, since the BTs are drawn in small numbers from each store in the Smoke's 'catchment' and thus hardly affect sales - and yet even there the supermarkets take the opportunity to raise prices citing 'shortage' and 'gold rush' due to holidays ...

Takes a lot of work to explain simple things ... but you all know that anyway.
