Title: 'world's best bread'

Naan: How the 'world's best bread' travelled from Islamic courts to our plates

While today naans and its versions have become ubiquitous in restaurants serving Indian or Middle Eastern fare, they were once served only in the courts of Islamic kings. So, how did the naan travel from royal kitchens to our plates?

Looks like a puddle of vomit.

Had Naan once and never again.
Just another crap filler from overseas.
Usually served to excuse your dinner being another 10mins late.

Would make decent toilet paper.

Don't laugh. They actually use Naan bread for that very reason in Indian outskirt towns that don't have public and private sanitation systems.

And then sell the bread as special vindaloo

I honestly don't know.
I do know in rural areas, it's an emergency bum wipe.

Toilet paper packaged sheets sold specifically for wiping was invented in 1857 by Joseph Gayetty, an American from New York (born in Massachusetts).

Another thing people can thank a white man for.  ;)

I watched a doco some years ago about white folk changing lifestyles with natives and when asking about toilet stuff… just go and dig a hole and use a rock to wipe.
As for bathing, the natives said to paint their bodies with this white paint to keep them clean and no need for regular bathing.

Well, how else did everyone wash or go to toilet in them early days?
I do know that when women had their monthly, they used special cloths folded a certain way and pinned on underwear. Then these cloths were washed after to use for next time.
Hence the expression related to the monthly as “being on the rags”

I’m certain this is all riveting stuff  :)

Based on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), using stones for cleaning is a valid, traditional practice called
Istijmar

It is recommended to use an odd number of stones, specifically three or more
