Miami mayor race results: Eileen Higgins defeats Trump-backed Emilio González

Eileen Higgins clinched victory in Miami’s mayoral runoff election, according to multiple reports, marking the first Democrat to win the office in almost 30 years and the first woman ever elected mayor in the city.

A roaring chant of “Eileen” erupted at Higgins’ watch party at the Miami Women's Club.

“Well, we did it,” Higgins told her supporters, the Miami Herald reported. “Tonight, history was made.”

Higgins' success was a major win for Democrats, who have defeated GOP rivals in several 2025 off-year elections. It could also spell trouble for Republicans and President Donald Trump, who endorsed Higgins’ opponent, Emilio González.

Everytime I make the offer, it comes with a demand for reciprocation that never gets fulfilled.

IF Trump allows the midterms to go ahead uninterrupted, I believe he will lose his majority in the House and the Senate, even with the mid cycle gerrymandering.  He's hurt too many in his base and we're not even a year in yet.

But that is based on the current landscape and we're too far out to be making such bold claims.

Ask me again when we're 6 months out and we'll see if you'll put your money where your mouth is and go all in with me.

I foresee you'll try to weasel your way out of this.
