In war, attackers lose more soldiers than defenders—defenders are dug in to some extent, attackers have to show themselves/their armor.

He would have grown up with the stories as a child, being told to him on a regular basis
and learning all about it at school.
He would have suffered the poverty from the recovery from WW2

Even today Russia has an economy only about the same size as Italy or Australia – it's small -
nothing compared to Europe and the USA combined.
Now he has taken them all on in a war he can't win -

Russia is way behind in technology too -
the high tech NATO weapons are killing his troops by about 1,000 per day.

Still, as you yourself insisted, we are doing comparative economics. I am still not sure why you brought up national debt, other than in a desperate effort to polish Putin's turd. If you are having trouble understanding the question, or it's relevance, I am happy to explain. I was not trying to trick you into revealing your personal finances.

In 2022, there were 3000 different sanctions against Russia. Now that has increased to 24,000.
