Monk is a lonely old alcoholic homosexual who lives all alone in a corrugated iron shed with a nervous dog. Even if Monk says he's OK, the truth is, he's about as OK as Marcellus Wallace after he'd been assphucked by 2 hillbillies in a rape dungeon underneath a pawn shop with a red gag ball in his mouth.

Monk is pretty farkin' far from OK.

A DIPA or Double India Pale Ale is a stronger version of an IPA.

The “Hairy Troll” (and how appropriate that name turned out to be, just look in Food and “Health and Welfare” threads dated yesterday) rye DIPA is 8.8% abv.

An IPA is a very hoppy, bitter beer: hops are antibacterial and in the prePasteur days of the early 1800s lots of hops allowed beer to be shipped in sailing ships from England to India (Goa) as well as to Australia, the US etc. Mind you—lots was still found spoiled on arrival in Goa.

Now the rye. Rye, especially the unmalted flaked rye but also malted rye to a lesser extent puts a heap of pepperiness in a beer.

The Rye DIPA was a delightful beer: bitter but with a very smooth bitterness then the pepperiness as well, really well blended flavors.

Tasmania, home of amazingly good craft brews!
