Just heard there were 10 police officers attending that property earlier with warrant to arrest sex offender/s.
And the gunman considers himself a sovereign citizen. Well freedom of certain rights are okay, but being a sex offender and killing others is not anyone’s right! How long with children is he going to last out in the Alpine region? He’s put those children’s lives at risk. I feel sad for the 2 policemen that won’t be going home to families anymore :'( |

Oh my just saw an extensive story on the guy. Talk about harassed a lot by cops. Since about 2018.
He said somewhere that police were thugs. Well not all but… it comes to mind that poor kid dropped to the concrete floor at a train station (Bobby has put that vid up) by cops. That kid ended up dying as a result of injuries. I know someone personally who’s a sov cit and was harassed to the point he put up signs around the fence perimeter of his property as a warning to keep out. Well if you know our shire… it’s the worst one ever… they wouldn’t allow him to build a house on the land, declared it as land slip. So they had no choice but to sell up and leave. Lo and behold, the new owners were allowed to build a house on that property in a short time after. |

A safer way to get him is to wait till he went to say the supermarket and have plain clothes officers arrest him when he is near his car - on the way out with an armful of groceries. To go to his home territory when you know he is armed - sounds like a silly thing to do. |

There are some reports that he was under a Firearms suppression order, but being a Sovereign Citizen that wouldn’t apply to him, to his way of thinking. That’s what makes them so dangerous. |

Earlier I wrote from a reporter on tv said it was a warrant for sex offender… that was so wrong of her to say as it wasn’t the case at all.
This is what it was about…. Ten officers were executing a firearms prohibition order on the suspect on Tuesday morning when three were gunned down as they entered a bus in which the man – who locals have described as a “hippie” and a sovereign citizen, someone who claims not to be covered by the law – lived on an isolated property. Police have described the shooting as an ambush. This guy with his family had lived on an isolated property and past video footage of interviews showed this …. how it was their little slice of paradise. He didn’t want to be harassed. There’s a lot coming out now about police bullying towards him… especially during Dictator Dan’s reign of red back police bullies during early covid 20’s. It kind of twigged. And then there was a notice served to HanDan for treason. Things really ramped up with the harassment’s after that. I was at a rally on parliament steps with many others. There was this suspicious looking mid age Chinese male photographer taking facial photos of everyone. Is that for facial recognition and harassment later? |

Surely the senior cops mucked up the risk assessment for this job? I assume they knew there was a risk he had firearms otherwise they wouldn't send 10 cops there? I see busts all the time on TV and I feel sorry for the police who have to do them. They put their lives on the line when they bust down someone's door - if a crook is behind the door with a rifle, they are goners - no bullet proof vest will protect them. The senior cops need to get a bit smarter - as I said - catching someone as they leave a supermarket with an armful of groceries would be a much better time to pounce - using undercover cops who can easily hide in the dozens or 100s of cars in those areas. Catch them by surprise when you can see they are unarmed and vulnerable. |

https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/police-work-that-turns-deadly-20250826-p5mq06.html
When police headed to Porepunkah to deliver a warrant, they had conducted a risk assessment, checking for any prior convictions and previous behaviour of the resident. He was known to be eccentric, a “sovereign citizen”, a sucker for conspiracy theories and a hater of police, blaming them for some of his problems. All would be flagged on the police computer system to forewarn those who would deal with him. He changed his name to Dezi Freeman to reflect his bizarre political convictions. He is a man who believes the rules don’t apply to him and that he is a persecuted victim. In short, he is a weirdo with a grudge. But being a weirdo with a grudge doesn’t make you a killer. Clearly police were wary, with 10 officers assigned for the job, probably to help search the property or respond if things became ugly. This was a job they knew could go nasty, but no one thought it would turn deadly. And it did turn deadly within moments of the police entering the property. It’s early days in the investigation but planned or unplanned, this looks like an ambush. Loading It is understood police had previously seized weapons from Freeman, but it’s believed he still had a homemade shotgun and a high-powered hunting rifle. Risks are graded. High risk may require SOG, critical incident response team or public order response team support. Inquiries into how this case was graded and the allocation of resources will be conducted in the weeks and months ahead. Police, uniformed and detectives, went to the property to deliver a summons and conduct a search. And then it happened. While details are scarce, it is alleged the suspect opened fire, killing two police and injuring a third. He lived on a bus on the property behind a security gate. He allegedly shot and killed two officers as they entered. Police have yet to release the names of the two police killed but it is understood one was a much loved local detective, 59, weeks from retirement, and the second, a Melbourne officer, 35, working in the area on temporary secondment. It is believed Freeman took one police 40-calibre Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol with 30 rounds of ammunition from a fatally wounded officer. A third officer, shot in the thigh, was able to take shelter. Even though there were seven police there, it took an hour for an extraction team to rescue him due to the ongoing risk from Freeman. The injured policeman, a local officer, has been flown to The Alfred hospital for surgery. An SOG crew, including specialist snipers, was flown by helicopter to the scene. There are now hundreds of police involved in the hunt. Porepunkah was placed in lockdown with the killer fleeing into the bush. This will make the SOG manhunt complex. Chief Commissioner Mike Bush says he wants the matter resolved peacefully with the arrest of the suspect. That will entirely be a matter for Freeman. The property is heavily wooded. Police will search knowing the offender may have already set up ambush points, built hidden camps and possibly booby-trapped areas. The initial police report suggested an ambush, similar to the Queensland extremist Christian attack carried out by offenders with a sovereign citizen background. In December 2022 police went to a property in Wieambilla on what they thought was a routine missing persons inquiry. It was a planned ambush that resulted in constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow and neighbour Alan Dare being shot dead. The offenders, brothers Gareth and Nathaniel Train, and Gareth’s wife, Stacey Train, were shot dead by police following a siege. As in the Queensland attack, it is likely that ASIO will assess whether the Porepunkah shooting was a terrorist act. Detectives and intelligence experts will ask, was Freeman was waiting for police; was he planning an ambush? Bush has begun his five-year term with a low-key approach. Now he will need to lead from the front in the most awful circumstances. It is every chief commissioner’s nightmare. A police funeral with full honours for a member shot on duty. For Bush, there will be two. |

Given the information below it certainly appears to have been poorly planned.
I would suggest that dealing with someone who appears to have a serious mental Illness and known to be in possession of high powered firearms is something I would take extremely seriously and I would not be knocking on his front door or walking casually onto his property. More , much more importantly. These. Officers are just like us, they leave behind grieving families and didn’t deserve to die . They were at work and there work involved keeping us all safe. It’s a tragedy. The only positive I can take from this is that they have quite possibly saved dozens of people from being shot , the man is certainly unhinged and has proven to be killer. What he may have been planning could have been a mass shooting event? I suspect his got a plan and has slipped away into the bush. I hope that those searching know a little about traps. |

Cops don't harass someone because they are a "sovereign citizen" per se... it's because when - they pull them over for breaking the law .... like speeding, unlicenced driving, driving unregistered car, failing to provide a sample for a road side breath/drug test, non payment of council rates, failing to appear in court after receiving a summons, etc. etc. As sovereign citizens they don't believe those regulations or laws apply to them. I have no sympathy for anyone who does that. Every example I have seen about issues with so called "sovereign citizens" they have been in the wrong & are just whack jobs. |

This bloke was known to Police who also knew of his Sovereign Citizen claim.
Obviously the Victorian Police must go about with their heads up their arses..... they didn't learn one thing from the Wieambilla incident where two Police Officers shot & killed by the Train Family when they attended a farmhouse in December 2022. The Trains were the same sort of people as this Dezi Freeman - Sovereign Citizens and Conspiracy theorists. Also having a heavy arsenal of unregistered weapons. |

There are many issues with how this event unfolded.
It’s a tragedy. My thoughts are with the families and colleagues who are suffering right now rather than finding blame. That will eventually come Im sure. The only positive is that they may have saved a mass shooting event. Still, cops are just like us and don’t deserve to die doing their job. Just like us! |

Victoria police commissioner gives a speech.
Video: https://7news.com.au/news/dezi-freeman-manhunt-the-four-months-i-spent-talking-to-accused-cop-killer-c-19822214 He got his guns back: A month later, Dezi was back in court trying to settle one of his feuds. At the time, I believed it was another inconsequential update to the life of Dezi Freeman. But now, it’s perhaps the most consequential decision a Magistrate has ever made in the Wangaratta Courthouse. “Hi Luke. Yesterday we had a victory in Wang Court. The Magistrate rejected (the) application to take my firearms ... The tide is turning.” |

I started that thread on sovereign citizenship to open up discussion of the whys and wherefore of the development of this 'cult'.. this ideology ... this 'set of ideas' which is just like the others - and now - sadly - it seems that was a rather prophetic thing given the recent events... and this issue DOES need a lot of careful thought and some resolutions = even if it means Gon'Mo.... I wouldn't laugh or think Gon'Mo is just a mad dream or a joke..... something has to be done to either deport or inport these dangerous types and quarantine them from society. We can deport Outlanders who cause trouble and violence etc - plenty of those - but our homegrowns can either be banished from the realm and their citizenship stripped or be allowed to run free in Gon'Mo Province... not a prison as such - an open space from which escape is hardly a viable option where they can make the best of things ... the crocs, sharks and Abo guards with traditional weapons and ways see to that. |

Some issues with official story Vic police aren't reliable when you look at how they handled covid.
10 Police couldn't take 1 guy, how did he get away from the other 7 cops while carrying a huge arsenal? If he was carrying so many weapons and ran away, surely the other police should have been able to shoot at him or run after him. You can't fire a rifle/shotgun if your hands are full of other weapons Police claim he took pistols and radios from officers he killed. They also claim he has several guns yet they had no idea of what guns he had when they executed warrant. It's hard enough trekking through thick bush with one rifle and backpack yet the police want us to believe he is carrying multiple guns while he ran away from 7 other police officers. Police Choppers have thermal cameras why haven't they located him ? The police want us to believe he ran off into the bush like Rambo while carrying a huge arsenal while none of the other 7 police officers on the scene saw where he went? It doesn't add up it's either a massive cock up by the police or they aren't being honest with us. |

Mr Freeman identified himself to the court as a disability pensioner and claimed his family was persecuted by the state. What's next? Police are continuing a significant search for Mr Freeman, who is believed to be armed and dangerous, after two police officers were shot dead and another seriously injured at his rural property on Tuesday. A victim of a 'personal vendetta' Mr Freeman last year launched a Supreme Court challenge after his drivers licence was cancelled and he was disqualified from driving for two years after being convicted of speeding, refusing to submit to a drug test and using a mobile phone while driving. Mr Freeman, who was born Desmond Filby, told the Supreme Court he and his family were the victims of "malicious prosecution" and "personal vendetta" after he was stopped for speeding outside a fish and chip shop. According to the court, the incident sparked a heated exchange with Mr Freeman who ultimately drove off without completing a drug test while simultaneously filming the officers who pulled him up. "I had my firearms licences cancelled and lost my club membership," Mr Freeman told the Supreme Court, which ultimately struck down the challenge. "We endured four acts of criminal trespass and harassment on our home by police and I have been dragged through four years of court hearings." Victoria Police declined to comment on whether Mr Freeman had his gun licence cancelled. Court records obtained by the ABC paint the picture of a man who felt deeply wronged by police, who he previously described as "terrorist thugs" and "friggin' Nazis". |

From what I heard, the fugitive has a good knowledge of bush skills and especially the Alpine region… where there are many caves apparently. And you write ~~ 10 Police couldn't take 1 guy, how did he get away from the other 7 cops while carrying a huge arsenal? If he was carrying so many weapons and ran away, surely the other police should have been able to shoot at him or run after him. You can't fire a rifle/shotgun if your hands are full of other weapons And I ponder how…and don’t forget with wife and kid/s. So how did he get away? Or maybe his family were used as a shield for him to not get shot at while on the move? |

The "couldn't be taken by 10 cops" line is misleading.
A number of the police personnel were from the sex offenders investigation unit because this dirt-bag nutter was being served on matters relating to sexual offending against children under the age of 15. What's the bet that this nutter kills himself? He will cop life imprisonment without parole if he is caught alive. |

The reports are a as a skilled bushman he could travel 15 kms per day.
Looking at this map of a 30km radius, and with a metre of snow predicted in snowy region… I’m looking at the map and get a feeling he could be heading towards Beechworth. (Outlaw Ned Kelly region) Ned Kelly escaped to the bush, reappearing at sunrise to try to rescue his brother. This time, police shot Kelly where he was most vulnerable, taking out his legs in a volley of bullets that finally brought the dramatic siege to an end. Kelly's preliminary hearing was held in the Beechworth Courthouse in August 1880. I’m reading some reports he was living in a caravan? It was mentioned cops were ambushed from a caravan. And as there’s one door in a caravan … was that door facing away from the main driveway entry towards the bush land for fast getaway? Didn’t the cops flank the place? 10 cops, surely not all from the sex offensive team? D212F8E8-64BF-4D05-A129-83F24D9E155E.jpeg (85 KB | 13

Why didn’t the surviving police immediately return fire and/or run after him?
Probably because, not being stupid, they went to ground or got behind other cover until they could assess the situation, this was real life not a movie. Also as he was able to take the murdered policemen’s weapons then the police party may have been split up and obviously he didn’t fire from a caravan and get out the door on the opposite side to the police. According to some reports his family were not with him, and the search warrant was for weapons not sexual offences. Media reports need to be taken as very suspect. As for how did he move with multiple weapons,. . . . slings |

Well maybe not all those details in the novel but….taken from this explanation below…. Unsolved crimes Just because there aren’t any records of the exact disappearances or murders referenced in the book, doesn’t mean there were never rumours they occurred. In fact, the book and movie drove such interest that Yvonne Rousseau wrote a book, The Murders at Hanging Rock, about possible solutions and answers. The author of the original book, Joan Lindsay, was the subject of a biography, investigating how she came to write the book and whether it had any basis in fact. The author of that biography, Janelle McCulloch, notes that some students who attended the school the book is based on believe that the crimes did occur, and that the stories might have based on a case of two girls who went missing around 1800s. |

There was little need for those, representatives of the police, to openly state that circumstance. WHY SO ? Well, we have all seen.....the TV reports of two Victorian police officers murdered near a small Victorian alpine town....... It is a terrible crime. And in the days following that 'incident'......in the MSM TV reporting....we see....that 100's of Victorian police [many serving in Victorian police 'elite' specialist 'groups', descend upon Porepunkah. In the visual media [MSM TV reporting]......we can observe......that Victorian police [and Victorian government] have committed massive resources, in pursuit of this alleged murderer, Dezi Freeman. On TV news reports from Porepunkah....we [Australian citizens] can all observe the dozens, and dozens, of police vehicles parked in a long line, one behind the other, on a local road. Police resources. . Q. But, what about the ONGOING violent gang crime, in the Melbourne suburbs ? .....AND ITS MANY VICTIMS !! We have all seen, being reported, day after day, FOR MANY MONTHS, the massive amounts of violent gang crime, in the Melbourne suburbs. Q. What about the safety of the law-abiding citizenry of Victoria, being the Victorian Police Federations highest priority ? IT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE. And.....the Victorian Police Federation has stated that.... THE SAFETY OF POLICE is its highest priority. I'm not criticising the police. I'm just asking, why the lives of police.....seem to be, being afforded much more importance, than the lives and safety of the 'ordinary' [unimportant ???] law-abiding citizenry of Victoria ? I think it will come out that they were not all together. That he was able to take the ambushed Officers weapons indicates this. Remember these were general duties police not experienced infantrymen Example. A good mate, Cedric Charles Ingra was forward scout of a 2RAR patrol in the Malayan Emergency, he was shot in ambush and died a bit later. As he’s been arrested many times, thinking it’s just another time the clown is arrested. It was a shock and surprise to the cops the seriousness so they took cover to assess the new situation at hand. He was certainly known to police but, it seems, not as a violent offender, more of a nuisance. Body armour is limited in its usefulness, the type that can be worn with suits or ordinary uniforms will stop ordinary shot pellets and most pistol bullets but a hit from a 12gauge slug will usually put the wearer down for the count. Low grade body armour is next to useless against the high powered rifles. https://www.indianarmour.com/ballistic-vests |

I have noticed something rather disturbing in all the media coverage and general commentary around this incident. A man who has allegedly killed two policemen, wounded a third and is on the run with their weapons, instaed of being villified is getting a surprising amount of sympathy from a surprisingly large number of people.
The conclusion here seems to be that the state of Victoria is so broken that its government and agencies like the police are now seen as enemies of the people rather than their servants by increasing numbers fed up with the way the place has been run by the Andrews and Allan governments. The emphasis on the 'sovereign citizen' aspects of Freemans lifestyle and the heavy handed treatment given to a man mistakenly thought to be an associate have only reinforced the beliefs of those who already see the government as the enemy. :-? |

That was the origin of the Mafia in Sicily - originally founded on a real need to protect the ordinary people from predatory overlords and land-holders and such (remember that many Crusaders staked a claim in Sicily along the way, too, and imposed their rule and rules by the sword) .... the original Mafia was a kind of 'Antifa' who rose out of the sidewalks to oppose wrong - not that I'm saying that 'antifairies' actually do that - they are the problem not the solution ... did the required deed and then vanished again into the sea of fish swimming in the population current... the original Mafia was a kind of grass-roots revolutionary or insurrection movement, but was hijacked and perverted into criminal overlordship instead. Remember also how the IRA took over from the London criminal underworld (London having a rather large Irish transplant population etc at the time) by literally bumping off criminal king-pins and 'restoring' the order that the police and courts apparently could not create (living comfortably with it as they were - who cares much if a scrote takes apart another scrote?), thus establishing the IRA as being the true upholders of law and order - same as in Derry etc.... for political advantage ... These were People Power of a different kind to what we are seeing here at the moment, but sadly - in both cases - hijacked for political purposes and self-advancement... I have long considered that what this country needs is a dedicated corps of soul-less assassins to wreak right and vengeance on the wrongdoers of ALL kinds... and possibly expanding into the international arena.... but such a thing is a dream and more suited to novels and films.... Details of the conversations recorded between Dezi, his wife, and police before shooting.
https://apple.news/Akq8VAFODSJqi4N-FQ0vxWQ 'We have got a search warrant right here,' one officer was heard saying. 'Come out and have a look at it. 'Come out and talk to us Dez, we are not going away.' From inside, Ms Freeman could be heard asking the officers not to enter the bus. 'Can you please not barge in?' she said. 'We have a search warrant,' a second officer responded. 'I have a kid, please,' Ms Freeman begged, her voice shaking. 'Leave us alone, leave us alone,' Freeman shouted. What followed was an extended back-and-forth between Freeman and several officers. Freeman demanded to see the warrant, claimed he had autism and post-traumatic stress disorder, and insisted a disability liaison officer be present. Daily Mail understands Freeman has never been formally diagnosed with either condition. Freeman named various other police officers he wanted to attend as witnesses, and when the warrant was held up against the bus window, he snapped that it was 'not valid'. 'What is the search warrant for?' he demanded. Remaining calm, an officer pulled against the bus door with a crowbar. 'We are just trying to do our job, Dez. Come out and talk to us and we won't have to break in,' he said. When told the warrant was related to a sexual assault allegation involving a young girl, Freeman erupted. 'Oh for f* sake, what bulls*,' he screamed, branding the police 'psychopaths' and accusing them of 'terrorising him'. 'You have been targeting me for seven years,' Freeman claimed before demanding to speak to the senior sergeant and commanding officer. He accused the police of 'trespassing' and committing 'countless crimes.' |

There's a movie on it. The Special Forces came in and flushed him to the end of the peninsula. Trapped, he came out guns blazing. They took him down, tied him up. Lit their cigarettes with a foot on him and then called the cops in after he died from his wounds so they could read him his rights. |

Armed with a doona, I think. EDIT: just found this. The person inside the building was encouraged to come outside and given an opportunity to surrender peacefully He exited the building, and police 'strongly believe' he was armed |

He presented a gun at the cops from underneath a blanket.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmDZly14kFg Mar 30, 2026 Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush has held a press conference at the Murray River Road property where fugitive Dezi Freeman was shot dead in a stand-off with police. He said police used every tool at their disposal to end things peacefully, and that Freeman pointed a firearm at police before he was killed. |
