Title: Trump is your therapist.
Post by aquascoot on Aug 14th, 2025 at 5:22am
The excellent Peter crone made a good point.

If your mother in law really triggers you , then you need to analyse why.
Why does it upset you.?
It will probably reflect a child hood trauma or a wounding in your adult life that you have not processed.
Maybe you have trouble with control , or a female teacher scalded you as a little boy.
Perhaps feelings of inadequacy.?

Either way, the " gold" in terms of your growth is to examine anyone who triggers YOU and upsets YOU because that tells YOU where you are not free from psychological issues holding you back.

Why does Trump trigger so many people but others just see him as a bit of a good ball and a stirrer.?

Does the fact he is 80 and they are getting old but he still has power attention and energy, cause them to feel insignificant by comparison.
What work do they need to do to regain mental ✌️ peace.
Some of them seem to be quite obsessed.
Could they start to see him as their therapist, sent to the earth to help them grow.

I thought it was worth studying  :)

Why is it that when someone responds to, for example, Trump ignoring Court orders to NOT deport a man, that is somehow being "triggered"? Or when we disagree with him pardoning violent, convicted January 6 insurrectionists, we're being "triggered"? The answer is - it's not. It's simply pointing out bad policy by a deplorable President. By the way, I don't feel insignificant compared to Trump. I know I am a far better person than he could ever aspire to be. Your argument boils down to "don't criticise Trump, you have no right".

Not at all.
By all means analyse him and behave differently.
But why the need to express it?
It's doubtful he reads your posts.
So it's a huge opportunity cost.

Why would someone spend hours a day writing about Trump?
What do they get out of it?
Are they terrified of trying a new project or going on a new date and so it's an excuse not to do something which scares them.

What is thinking about Trump doing FOR THEM.
Maybe they could think about someone they find inspiring.
Would karnal be interested in reading Nelson mandalas

Would this be more helpful ?

What are you, the Thought Police? Are we not allowed to express our opinion anymore, according to you? Do you want to censor everyone so that the only online commentary of Trump is praiseworthy? If so, then go live in North Korea!

What a load of bollocks.
Trump triggers people because he is a criminal always has been always will be. Nothing to do with what happened during childhood its simple, reasonable thinking people look back at trumps career and see just how much of a despicable person he is and then wonder why people like horseboy, frank ,leroy and the rest of the cultists see trump doing no wrong.

Its both sad and pathetic that given the amount of information available re trump and Epstein ,that there are those who still support a child rapist. Says more about his supporters than those who see trump for what he is.

Comparing an adjudicated rapist, who has 34 criminal convictions, to an annoying mother-in-law.

Oh dear   ::)

Therapist?  No.

Add a space though, and you've nailed it: the_rapist

I'm familiar with Peter Crone's work, and yes, there are some useful takeaways from his "mental constructs" ideas.

His central point, and to borrow from Scoot's language, is that if someone "triggers" you emotionally, it's because you have unresolved psychological wounds or insecurities from childhood or adulthood.

Your anger or discomfort, in that view, is a mirror of your own issues, not an indicator of the other person's objective wrongness.

The "gold" in this is supposedly the opportunity to uncover and work through your own baggage.

What Scoot is doing here is trying to link the popular right-wing notion that the left is emotionally triggered by Trump.  There is nothing logical about it, it has nothing to do with his behaviour, it's just an emotional weakness.

And he's mixing that with the ideas of Crone, in a textbook attempt to downplay and deflect ALL criticism of Trump.

He's really taking his devotion to Trump to the next level.

He's implying that people don't oppose Trump because of Trump's actions, but because Trump touches on their own fears, like ageing, losing relevance, lacking power, or feeling inadequate.

To me, that sounds like textbook projection from Scoot, but I'm sure he'll try to deny that.

For some, he's just a "goofball and stirrer", so if others are deeply disturbed by him, that must reveal flaws in them.

The idea that Trump is some kind of therapist is nothing more than a sleight of hand to recast lawbreaking, sexual assaults, constant lying, and the damage he's inflicted on people's lives as somehow a positive, a service to those "working through" their reaction to it.

It's pop-psychology framing repurposed as a political shield, designed to make nothing Trump does his fault, and everything the fault of those "triggered" by him.

It's the ultimate abandonment of the noble alpha ideal, the leader who takes responsibility and leads by example, replaced instead with a petty, self-serving inversion where the harm done is reframed as the victim's growth opportunity.

I dare say most people share their views on Trump, particularly when grounded in reality and supported by evidence, in the hope that those blinded by their devotion to him might begin to question their undying loyalty. It hasn't worked on you yet, but there's always hope.

You've really got to stop saying " devotion"
Trump is obese, he has terrible nutrition and he is way to reactive to his enemies.
I wouldn't be devoted to Trump.
Yuk.

I view the Trump phenomenon like the lady di phenomenon or the kardashian phenomenon or Michael Jackson or OJ Simpson.

Why do these people absorb so much of the mental capital of the population?

Fascinating.

As to being triggered myself I am guilty.
When I see people litter out their car I fume.
When I see people tie up working dogs all day or see them running the fence line on a tiny suburban block , I become very triggered.

Crone let me make sense of this.

But Trump has never triggered me and if he dropped dead tomorrow, Vance and Ron would be more capable.

Pecca and karmal discussing his wife's vagina In derogatory terms triggers me.

Even if she was a prostitute , would you talk about a prostitute that way.
I'll have to check with crone

The only distinction between you and the garden-variety Trump devotee is that you insist on shoehorning your loyalty into whatever pop-psychology, self-help drivel you've just cobbled together.

The end result is indistinguishable.

You refuse to hold him to account for anything, you leap to his defence at every turn, and even extend that protection to his close-knit circle of paedophile associates, attempting to gaslight the world into believing Jeffrey Epstein was merely some benign "party planner" for the wealthy, all in service of insulating Trump from criticism.

If jettisoning every principle you once proclaimed here, from your pseudo-alpha posturing to your quaint pronouncements on the "proper place" of women, just to prop up Trump under the flimsy pretext of "study" isn't an act of sheer ideological surrender, what else could it possibly be?

In deed, if not in confession, you are devoted to him. You just lack the courage to admit it.

That's because crime, sexual assault, and child abuse clearly don't trouble you, provided it's Trump committing them.

That's devotion.

It's remarkable that you find certain words used about Trump's current wife unconscionable, yet feel compelled to defend the abuse Trump and his inner circle have inflicted on other women and children.

Again, that's devotion.

Strange. So what's this realization?

Just one of many posts and threads you've started to sing your DL's praises. Some days you wake up and think, oh I must share this about DL, it's priceless.

The next day you wake up all angry at the leftards for mentioning his name. How dare you say Trump, you say. How dare you post at all? If you really wanted to discuss American political issues, you'd be raising the topic of Hillary's emails, counting up the number of flights Bill took to Epstein Island or pointing out the giant bulge in the area of Michelle Obama's crotch.

I guess it's clear which side of the bed you woke up on today, dear.

Are you playing dumb again?

Can you not recognise that there can be a distinction in the method used to reach an identical outcome?

In my view, Scoot is a Trump devotee who consistently makes excuses for Trump, his behaviour, and the consequences of his policies. The difference is, unlike most Trump devotees, much like yourself, Scoot doesn't become emotionally unhinged, lashing out at anyone who disagrees or pretending they didn't say anything of substance.

To his credit, he appears to actually read a fair bit, in this case, self-help style books, and cherry-picks the parts he considers useful. In this instance, that "usefulness" is simply to defend Trump.

So while his approach is vastly different to the angry, shouty, tantrum-throwing, perpetually triggered masses like you, the outcome is still the same.

It's a remarkably simple concept, so it's hardly shocking that it's lost on someone as dim-witted as you.

The other thing I've noticed is that when I applied the identical logic Scoot used for Trump, using  Peter Crone's ideas, but directed it at you and Greggy, the meltdown you had was extraordinary.

Are you now so obsessed with Greggy that you're willing to turn on Scoot just to take a swipe at him?

Hold two vastly opposing views on the same subject simply because that's what's required for you to continue to show your devotion for Trump?

You must have a whole high-rise apartment's worth of "free real estate" in that head of yours, given how many people seem to live there rent-free. Makes sense, considering there's not much else in that cavernous void.

I think you owe Scoot an apology. We can differ on opinion, no doubt, but to attack him like this is pathetic.

I say, old boy, I would like to announce that I shall no longer be responding to the poster known to members here as Aquascoot. If he so much as rings my doorbell, trying to palm off his latest junk, I will refuse to answer the door. If he persists, I shall call the police.

If I happen to run into him on the street, in church or at Lions Club, Rotary or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, I shall ignore him completely. I will not entertain this insufferable bore a moment's longer. One will respond politely to his wife, should the need arise, but Aquascoot, I am at pains to say, is reiectus.

Starting from now.

You don't mind if I bookmark this post for "future reference", do you?

Thanks.  :)

By the way, this 68 year old has just come back from enjoying the great outdoors (not the great indoors as you said last week).

Walked from Rivervale to Kings Park and back. Same as last Sunday (up and down Mount Street, I might do the 242 steps of Jacob's Ladder next time, could be this Sunday).

And what have you been doing all this time? Posting word salads again, I see.

Good approach.

I am less disciplined and confess to some pleasure in excoriating woke toddlers. It is a bit like playing chess with a bunch of Special Ed inmates.  Cruel but oddly fair.
I also perform an important public service: I don't let them take more and more territory unchallenged in the public debate ( if one call call them debaters). It is ONE of the ways I am giving back : bollocking those who need bollocking ... :-? :-?

Perhaps most of my responses are not for them but rather, in a small way, are mainly on behalf on all those who also loathe to cede the ground to those woke wankers.  They need pillorying and bollocking since they cannot be reformed nor strung up.

I think it would serve you well to take a break.

Every post you make recently has been a screaming tantrum.

Maybe a break will help you cool off and come back a bit more measured and less emotionally aggressive.

I see. So do you, old boy, support the cancellation of all elections, the imposition of martial law and the eradication of democracy itself?

That's a question. Your response will serve as a valuable public service to all and mark, from here on in, your territory.

A simple yes or no will suffice.

We can and we will. His refusal is his confession.

I'm just wondering why he's too cowardly to admit it. Bobby's nailed his colours to the mast. Leroy's almost there. Aquascoot will say whatever he's told, so he's in.

Frannie's in too, and no, there's nothing he can say or do to take it back. Next time Fran chucks a hissy over erections, we'll know.

He never wanted them in the first place.

Says the big girl's blouse who throws a tantrum in practically every post, melting down and abusing others because he's incapable of holding a civil exchange of ideas like an adult.

Let's take a quick look at your recent contributions…

1: Abusive
2: Name calling
3: Name calling
4: Name calling
5: Name calling
6: Name calling
7: Name calling
8: Insults, Name calling and personal attacks.
9: Name calling
10: Name calling, personal attacks
11: Personal attacks
12: Personal attacks

I can't be bothered going through any more, the pattern is already there.

You can't let your ideas stand on their own merits, so you default to petty name-calling, insults and personal attacks as your standard operating procedure. You're in a perpetual tantrum.

Are your beliefs so fragile that they can't speak for themselves without emotionally fuelled attacks and meltdowns?

Why are you suddenly behaving like such a child?

Scoot and I can disagree, but at least when he's not defending paedophiles, there is a baseline level of respect between us. I don't think you've even accidentally shown respect, even when you've been extended far more than you deserve.

You seem to argue purely for the sake of it, tossing out insults and personal attacks, then wearing a smug sense of achievement as if you've done more than paint yourself as a whiny little bitch incapable of engaging in an exchange of ideas without collapsing into a meltdown.

Are you... Are you trying to convince yourself that you're winning!?

Are you that insecure?!

Surely, at some point during the month, you can manage to gather control over your emotions?

Frannie won't even dare express his beliefs, he knows how vile they are.

Fran's busily trying to cover up the fact he's a card-carrying Nazi. His venting and shit-posting is all a ruse to bury questions posed. Your catalogue of lies, evasions, deflections and spineless equivocation is merely an attempt by Frannie to bury his own mess.

My guess is he joins the "noble Scoot" - poof!

Bobby's counting on his DL's weekend in Alaska to redeem their cunning plan.
