Title: Alcatraz escape mystery solved!
Post by Sophia on Aug 7th, 2025 at 1:35pm
Fascinating… even myth busters had a segment of the raft made of raincoats…
For decades, no one knew if the 3 escapees made it or not…it’s finally been solved…

If they had Female Prison Guards at Al Alcatraz back then.
Those female guards would have spotted that tunnel in its first few centimetres, because Women can pick a fault in anything. :D

Did the tourist visit at Alcatraz and can tell that place is horribly depressing. Short concrete beds, tiny cells and few windows. Amazing how anyone survived there.

Sounds inhumane.
I was hoping those 3 men made it …. I was a bit saddened to find out otherwise  :-[

Sorry Sophia but something about this doesn't seem right to me.

If this has really been solved then why hasn't the FBI updated these?

Alcatraz Escape

Alcatraz Escape - The Vault

The newsreader at the start of the "Unbelievable Tales" YouTube video says "55 years ago this month" which would mean that short news clip is from 2017.

Then, the next part says "For over 60 years".

This is a carefully composed YouTube video designed as clickbait, just like their JFK Assassination Finally Solved… And It's Shocking video.

And, I cannot find one single news story anywhere saying that the Alcatraz escape and JFK assassination 'mysteries' have been finally solved.

I'm also wondering why both of these videos have had over 6,000 views and yet no one has made a single comment?

(Edit: Correction - they've both had over 6,000 'thumbsups', the Alcatraz video has had 964,000 views and the JFK video 547,000 views. Wow).

Comments don't seem to be disabled (it would say "Comments are turned off") but there may be other ways for them to hide (or delete) comments. I don't know.

"Unbelievable Tales"? Yes, I agree.

Carl… my super sleuth  :)

Tell me… did they get away to freedom or…were their bodies found.

If they didn’t make it… at the time… I reckon a family member sent those mysterious flowers with unsigned card to the mother for Mother’s Day….out of kindness to have her believe it was her son alive somewhere reaching out.
If it made her happy…

I say they didn't make it.
But to the anti-law public of defiance, they did - because it's about keeping the legend alive, not drowned. That's the more entertaining end.

Personally, I believe they successfully escaped. After such meticulous planning I'm pretty sure they knew exactly what to do to avoid being recaptured after they made it to shore in their makeshift raft.

After all, what would be the point of going to all that trouble (and risk to their own lives) if they knew they had no chance of succeeding?

They probably had a person or persons waiting to pick them up, it could have all been organised well in advance while they were planning the whole thing.

Then they 'disappeared' to South America or some other part(s) of the US as per some of the theories.

But, like the JFK assassination, I'm sure the truth will be discovered eventually. I only hope I'm around long enough to see it (I'm 68 now).  :)

1st highlight response: I wanted it to be true they did escape and made it out alive.
2nd highlight response: The point is positiveness and strong will/belief they could. Motive enough.
3rd highlight response: I wondered how they had contact with anyone? No mobile phones then. Was it in  a form of letter writing? Did anyone go visiting at Alcatraz?

I don't see how. Even when I was at the tourist "shithole" of Fisherman's Wharf the waters are choppy as they would be with any coastline. Small boats would not venture out due to waters being so turbulent so the odds that 3 men in a makeshift raft out of stitched raincoats would have made it to shore would be slim. Also, according to the video waters at a temperature of 54F seems survivable but I can only surmise prolonged exposure in them would lead to hypothermia. Then there others factors the video pointed out like having no navigation other than using the city lights from San Francisco using makeshift oars and the moon gravitational tides would also work against them. Plus there are plenty of sharks in San Francisco bay which surprised me about the video of finding the bodies (allegedly) for I always thought the sharks would have had them for a snack.

But if you ever find yourself in San Fran stay away from Fisherman's Wharf - talk about your tourist traps. Well, except for the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory now, that's always worth the visit.

As for Alcatraz it does have a strange history in itself

Now that I think of it the Royal Gorge Bridge is the worst tourist trap I've ever been to

Talk about being "high"  :o

I would have thought you would be into paranormal explorations of abandoned homes and buildings for sightseeing Marla?

The Alcatraz Tri-Athlon:-

Dig 300 yards through rock...

Swim five miles in circles and beat the sharks .....

Run for the rest of your life....

**day dreams of Gondwanamo Bay for the recalcitrants and criminals...**

The other mystifying thing… one of the wallets with family photos was found belonging to one of the escapees. If escape was successful, wouldn’t it have been checked … or was it too cold and dark to see it?
Then I’m thinking, if they made it, what’s an untraceable phone call back in the day, months later from a phone box to family. Even a year or 2 later, when the trail has gone cold. But nothing? Except mysterious Mother’s Day flowers with unsigned card.
I reckon some contact to assure family they made it, would’ve been made, eventually.
But nothing?
If they survived, these men were clever, one having a high IQ. I’m certain they would’ve found a clever way to contact loved ones to let them know they are okay, rather than believe the news it was impossible they made it.
Surely one of them would’ve made some assuring contact?

Do you think early Aussie Convicts tried the same thing from this much bigger 'rock' surrounded by ocean?
Maybe a ship to America - land of the Free (to commit crime).?
