The State of West Victoria? They never ratified that I'm certain. Nothing but more division and exclusion - give 'em a dead roo and a stick... they can live their traditional way - native title was never intended to be any right to exclude others - that's mission creep and must be undone by legislators down the track - give 'em an exclusive reservation - not just some wide open claim - and one day all the reservations (that they once railed against) can be united into a single Homeland where they can all go, enjoy their traditional life, and STFU:-
Meanwhile on the Eastern Front- here is a list of demands:- "Land and water return: Returning land and water to Traditional Owners is a key demand, recognizing the deep connection First Peoples have to their Country. First Peoples' control over education and child protection: The commission advocates for greater control and decision-making power for First Peoples in these critical areas. Reparations and shared governance: The commission calls for reparations to address historical injustices and for the establishment of shared governance structures across public institutions. Truth-telling initiatives: Ongoing truth-telling initiatives, including at universities, are crucial for correcting the public record and fostering a deeper understanding of the impacts of colonization. Increased funding and oversight: The commission recommends increased funding and oversight to ensure better health, housing, and educational outcomes for First Peoples. Treaties and shared decision-making: The commission emphasizes the need for treaties between the Victorian government and First Peoples, as well as shared decision-making power. In essence, the Yoorrook Justice Commission's recommendations represent a call for transformative change, urging the Victorian government to take decisive action to address past wrongs and build a more just and equitable future for First Peoples. :D :D :D ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D |
