From what I can tell it was an annual street march to celebrate Ashura that went past the Cathedral. Ironically enough, Ashura celebrates when the Israelites were saved from the Egyptians by Moses parting the red sea.

Towards the end of the video, when you look closely, there's a line of people with their backs to the cathedral and another line of people facing the cathedral - so the two groups are face to face. The people facing the cathedral are swinging their arms back and forth (in particular, the man with the long grey coat). I've slowed the video down to 1/4 speed and I can't see anyone being violent, or anyone acting in an intimidating manner. There are some kids walking by with mobile phones, and a few adults on mobile phones too. I really don't understand what all the fuss is here, except for the puffer jackets - they're an abomination. |
