Parts of the New South Wales Central and South coasts are being lashed by a coastal low weather system, described by meteorologists as a bomb cyclone, that is causing damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

Emergency warnings remain in place for multiple regions due to a continued risk of flash flooding, with some suburbs receiving up to 130 millimetres of rain through the night. More than 35,000 homes and businesses remain without power.

The question is -

is it a result of extreme weather cause by climate change?

Hi bobby,

Just my opinion......

The environment and the climate of this planet is constantly changing.
......and this constant change [this variation], has been going on
......even historically so, for thousands of years, ......imo.

Climate change ?            Yes......it does.

Extreme weather ?            Yes, it happens.

And imo, the biggest factor having an effect upon the climate [change] of this planet,
is that nearby star.
.....it is the same star, that 'illuminates' the surface of this planet, during 'daylight hours'.

:P

Maybe -

Google AI:

Past CO2 levels have been much higher than current levels.
Specifically, about 50 million years ago, during the Eocene epoch,
CO2 levels were around 1500 parts per million (ppm).
At that time, the Earth was much warmer,
with no polar ice caps and temperatures significantly higher than today.

Usually when you didn't pay the power bill.   :-[

Nah, the power used to just go out randomly, for many hours at a time.

Not in SE Melbourne.
I never remember it going off.

Bobby, you need a New Age woman in your home.
They use candles for aromatherapy.
It will do you good in such dark times.

I have a small 12 Volt lead acid battery  -
I can run: my desktop lamp, a mobile phone charger, a little radio etc from it
using a 12V invertor.
I had to use it 3 times in the last 18 months -
every time there is a storm the power goes out as
trees fall on the power lines.

Then I can still cook or make a cup of tea with the gas stove.   :)
