Title: Australia SHOULD be an energy POWERHOUSE!
Post by SerialBrain9 on Jun 23rd, 2025 at 8:40pm
Australia SHOULD be an energy powerhouse.

Australia SHOULD have one of the strongest economies in the world.

Australia SHOULD have the cheapest energy in the world.

Australians SHOULD have one of the best living standards in the world.

Australia has been sold out.

We SHOULD be leading the charge.

But no.

Our governments are destroying us - and YOU keep voting for them.. 🫵

The Grappler Party - We ARE The People!  Haven't I taught you anything, peccary?

Anyway - Australia should be a powerhouse in many ways... but it's been sold out for a quick buck by parasites and self-servers in politics and public service, all living off the fattest in the land and with their retirement funding safe while running the country into ruin for everyone else.

We are. Energy is one of our biggest exports. A lot of Australians get paid huge wages to do it.

Letting foreign companies exploit our resources for a pittance  while we pay a fortune for them id a betrayal by governments of both persuasions. .

Do you know how much BHP pays to Australians in salaries?

Nowhere near as much as it once did.  It has 'diversified' and 'offshored' to such an extent that it is scarcely Australian any more.

You mean the companies don't pay tax?  Nope. You confuse Royalties with taxes.

The Royalties don't apply to Commonwealth Waters, that is a Commonwealth function.

Royalties do apply to onshore and North West Shelf.

"“It is no coincidence that the Federal Government’s Future Gas Strategy does not mention the words ‘royalties’, ‘tax’ or ‘return’ in its entire sixty-seven pages."

https://australiainstitute.org.au/post/zero-royalties-charged-on-111-billion-in-gas-sales/

Another Australia Institute report.

But blame it all on WA. ;)

Other countries people get payments for oil sold

Alaska for instance - each resident received around $1300 last FY

So you, ya mrs, 2 kids - you get around 5K

Meanwhile in Australia - we pay more royalties to resource companies than they pay us in Taxes/Royalties

So basically - these companies take our resources for FREE

Australia and Australians do not get one red smacking cent

There is one group of Australians who receive royalties to piss up against the wall.  ::)

No one else does.
