It was steadily rising before the pandemic.

Moreover, it's mainly due to increases in population size and increasing numbers of people reaching older ages for which cancer rates are higher.

Yes.

I believe that is the ultimate goal. But, seeing as we still don't have a vaccine that prevents the flu it might be quite some time before that happens.

However, in the meantime, we can take the vaccines that are available which greatly reduce the chances that you could end up in hospital... or the morgue.

But, we need our governments to (apparently) stop being afraid of the antivaxxers, antimaskers, antilockdowners and their (the government's) big business buddies and inform the population that Covid is still here, it is still dangerous and people need to make sure they're up to date with their vaccinations.

Oh, and it also might help if something was done about ads on TV like the one I've just seen (again) for a certain cold and flu tablet which advises sick people to take one and then "soldier on".

In other words, "soldier on" and spread your cold/flu/Covid/whatever to everyone at school, work or wherever else they go during the day.

There's zero chance of them ever wearing a mask, of course.

Irresponsible stuff.
