No way in the world would I pay $12 for a cup of coffee. I'd do without. It will close a lot of coffee shops in regional cities & towns. I'm reluctant to pay $8 for a schooner of mid strength beer.....yet they want $11 or $12 for one in Brisbane a kilomtere away from the brewery. luckily at the moment XXXX has a special on pints - so I get one for $8.30. I pay $6.60 to $6.80 for a schooner at my local Hockey/Sports Club. |

The world coffee market is in trouble and you want to make it about politics and blame Albo.
Exactly what do you want Albo to do about world coffee production ? |

I guess Coffee has become in short supply possibly? |

Climate collapse, because humans are burning excessive fossil fuel, deforesting, and other short term behaviours.
And what did Labor do last terms ... opened up more coal and gas. We already pack out ours coffee with carob. Tried roast acorn, preferred carob. |

China have transferred from a tea drinking nation to coffee drinkers dramatically increasing the demand for coffee. Supply hasn't kept up with a couple of years of crop failure due to growing conditions in major production areas. There is a combination of demand up corresponding with production down. You may have heard about it - its called supply and demand. |

Production Trends and Factors:
Global coffee production increased by 4% from 2023 to 2024, but remains below the all-time highs reached in 2022. Coffee prices have risen due to concerns about a prolonged drought in Brazil affecting supply. Global stockpiles of coffee are at their lowest level since 2018. Environmental factors like heavy rains and droughts can impact production in specific regions. Climate change poses a threat to coffee production, particularly for Arabica coffee, as it may become less viable in the coming decades. google ai search reply. |

Humans go extinct. Sure there will definitely be less demand for crops such as coffee.
The Amazon rainforest is facing a serious threat of potentially turning into a savanna due to deforestation and climate change. This is happening particularly in the south and southeast Amazon, where the forest is losing its ability to absorb carbon and is instead emitting more. If deforestation continues at its current rate, the rainforest could reach a tipping point within years, potentially losing 20% to 25% of its area, which could dramatically alter the ecosystem. Brazil being the biggest coffee bean producer ... will be impeded with the collapse of Earth's lungs. |

I have had less and less coffee when out now.
Unless it’s a long day and I’m away from home and I feel desperate for a cuppa … then I will buy it. But I’m using my own coffee machine at home, with organic milk. If hubby and I went for a coffee … that’s about $11 and no food with that. It’s become a luxury now to sit and have a coffee/hot chocolate when out. The change looks smaller and smaller out of the twenty dollar note. I do feel sorry for shops/cafes as even milk prices have soared. |

I’m very concerned about the small business/ coffee shops. They are the main business in many regional towns and a great employer for many young people. They pay massive rent, huge electricity costs plus insurance. Once people refuse to pay $12 a coffee they lose their business. No one is going pay $25 for avo on toast without a coffee. As far as the milk goes, have just returned from flood hit mid north coast towns. No dairy farmer is breaking even. The cost of the milk at the farm gate is closer to what it cost to buy water out of your tap. Obviously someone other than the farmers are making big $$$ out of selling milk but it’s all finished now anyway. The Chinese are on the ground and buying up all the farms. |

The struggles are being noticed but it’s been going for a while to get to breaking point. Hubby works 2 days a week at a huge food complex… and over the past year it has lost a lot of runs as other businesses and factories close down. Hubby says things have changed at work… they are not ordering as much as they used to. It’s like a dominoes effect… I’ve also noticed recently closed down food shops up for lease in our locality. Hubby keeps saying… the goal seems to be we have to try and hold onto what we have as utilities and food costs escalate. We aren’t saving anything like we used to be able to 30 years ago…we are just managing to keep our heads above water. Each time we get a bill… be it insurance, rates… it’s always irksome. Just our council rates alone are nearly $100 per week! That’s BS. |

In the middle of robusta's currently assumed optimal range (mean annual temperatures over 25.1°C), coffee yields are 50% lower compared to the optimal mean of ≤20.5°C found here. During the growing season, every 1°C increase in mean minimum/maximum temperatures above 16.2/24.1°C corresponded to yield declines of ~14% or 350–460 kg/ha (95% credible interval)" Models all the way down. What milk does everyone use to make coffee at home?
I can taste differences in milks and cannot stand any milk except full cream homogenised ORGANIC milk! It truly makes a difference for my sensitive taste buds. When milk runs out… sometimes hubby takes an initiative to buy it… and just normal crappy milk coz it’s cheaper! I just think yuk… crap milk crap coffee! I can’t wait for it to finish so I can buy a more pricey organic milk. And… if it’s running low, my organic milk… and there’s other crappy milk in fridge, I hide my milk so he can use the crappy one he buys ;D What difference would he know…he uses it for his hot oat breakfast. He never has coffee … he wouldn’t understand. And he has black tea with honey…. He really wouldn’t understand me… a coffee drinker! ;D So what’s everyone’s fave milk? |

If milk is homoginised it is never organic. I use any labelled as full cream. There are still differences as to how well it froths going by brand. I was at one stage buying a local dairies full cream milk product(even though pasteurised) that would actually have the cream settle to the top...... beautiful milk but it never frothed very well - not that I wanted heavy froth ... just a small amount. One brand I like is a product called Farmers Own - exclusive to Woolworths - same deal it doesn't froth that well but tastes great. Been some controversy a few years back though. https://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/news/woolworths-accused-of-misleading-customers-with-milk-labelling/news-story/5b8d0e33f9ec4ecd1c92bf48acc7102a#:~:text=%E2%80%9CFarmers'%20Own%20milk%20is%20exclusive,closer%20relationship%20with%20their%20customers.%E2%80%9D In my opinion "organic" milk is raw milk - straight from the farm - no pasteurisation, no homogenisation. |

I have tried the expensive barista coffee a few times. It is good. But, I don't see that the quality is considerably better than instant coffee. I microwave the coffee for three minutes before adding some milk. It is good enough for 80% of the drink until I get to the grounds near the bottom of the cup. |

I was a late bloomer to coffee at 25 until some mates forced me to have one. The smell of it always put me off.
So I had to chew down a big mug of something like 10 teaspoons of coffee and 6 teaspoons of sugar in it. It was pure mud. ...within the hour I was driving from Sydney to Melbourne for the first time and I didn't even know why? |

I have no doubt that Americans drink more coffee than Australians. It is just that I make a better coffee in my microwave than some coffee store in America would. Starbucks opened and then closed in Australia quite infamously. I bet Australian coffee would be heaven to Americans. |

In Singapore at the moment, 2-7$ for coffee. The best I have found cost me $6, some of the cheaper ones taste very milky.
