Title: Bowel Cancer
Post by greggerypeccary on May 29th, 2025 at 12:25pm

This surprised me:

"Bowel cancer is now the leading cause of death in people aged 25 to 44 in Australia."

Australia’s bowel cancer rates are world’s highest for under-50s

Incidence of bowel cancer is up to three times higher among Australians born in the 1990s compared with the 1950s cohort.

I've just recently had a colonoscopy and endoscopy and was  given the all clear.

Don't delay - do the test now!

You shouldn't have smoked those cigarettes and all the other stuff you did.
Did you visit Dr Aye-Aye of Madagascar for your homo erotic needs?

It's easy to treat if detected early.

I lost my best friend to bowel cancer because he didn't like going to the doctor.

Young people, in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, are developing aggressive and rapidly-growing "turbo cancers."

"The youngest case that I've reported was a twelve-year-old boy who had one Moderna vaccine. Four months later, [he] developed stage 4 brain cancer. And then six months later, he died," reported Dr. William Makis.
"I've diagnosed probably 20,000 cancer patients in my career. I've never seen cancers behaving like this."

Many cancer specialists are contradicting THAT claim,
relating to these 'new' 'turbo cancers'.

Many reports.....that almost all ppl are dying,
just a few weeks,
after their diagnosis of an aggressive cancer.

Brave new world.

If the diagnoses is late, yes.

That's what happened with my best friend - he was diagnosed too late, and died shortly after.

There are quite often no symptoms in the early stages, which is why many people don't get tested.

My father was diagnosed with bowel cancer in the early stages, and he made a full recovery.

Even until his death a couple of years ago, the cancer never returned - they got to it early.

"Bowel cancer is generally easier to treat effectively in its early stages. When detected early, the chances of successful treatment and long-term survival are significantly improved. Nearly everyone survives bowel cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage, but the chances of survival decrease as the disease progresses."

Even if you have no symptoms whatsoever, get a test ... now!

From 1 July 2024, we have lowered the eligible screening age for the program from 50 to 45 years.

People aged 45 to 49 can request their first bowel cancer screening kit.

People aged 50 to 74 will continue to receive a bowel cancer screening kit every 2 years.

I hadn't ever done a bowel cancer test until last year. I never received the testing kits in the mail - ever (as far as I know).

On the strong recommendation of my GP I registered last year, received the kit, did the test and sent it back.

All OK, thank goodness. Especially after my close call with prostate cancer 5 years ago (I'm still all clear with that after my latest PSA blood test a few months ago).

Good to hear.

I had a PSA done last week - all clear!   :)

Just so others know, you used to be able to get one free PSA test every year, but now Medicare has changed it to one free test every two years (unless you have a family history of prostate cancer).

If you get more than one in a 24 month period, you'll have to pay Medicare about $60.

Had it last year.  Colon/bowel re-section ensued.  They got it all.  And follow up PSA thing shows all clear.  Lucky.  Escaped with nothing other than a shortened colon.

If anyone tells you a colon re-section is a walk in the park, 'tell 'em they're dreaming."

:o  Glad you survived it.

My Dad had the same thing - the surgeon did a wonderful job (all for free, in a private hospital).

Mine was in Qld public.  We ditched private hospital cover a few years ago.  If yer in the real poo, as I was, the public system here is fantastic.  Red carpet.  Cannot fault it, but I really wish they would not wake 'me' up every few hours at night, given 'I' am wired to just about everything imaginable already with things going beep beep!

Im surprised some here (Carl) never get the tests?
We’ve been getting it every second year for over a decade.
I’ve just sent one off last week and waiting for results.

And…. Here’s some news…. I was diagnosed with lupus over 3 years ago… every 6 months blood/urine test to see how markers are going.
Yesterday was telecall from arthritis specialist….
He asked how my joints were… I said okay… I go to gym once a week to keep flexible…
He said… my latest test was excellent!
I’m like huh?
He says I was something like 56 on some scale but now I’m 2.
First thing husband says was they must’ve got the blood mixed up with someone else!
Where I went she was a bit ditzy… putting things down amidst other samples and I reminded her where mine was.
So until September, my next blood/urid test, let’s see if I’m still good!
But I’m hoping it’s true and just feeling the joy for now  ;D

Until my next

I’m too afraid to let go of the health insurance.
I would love to… what a saving it would be!
Just not confident to let it go.

Years back I started to get a bit of a problem with my hip - couldn't sleep on that side.  And when you're on your feet for almost your whole shift at work, it was definitely becoming a liability.

Then one of the other nurses said he used Glucosamine for his knees and to try that.  I did, and it worked.  I've had absolutely no problems since.  My joints and flexibility are perfect.  It might not be for everyone but I can recommend it on my own experience.

And I bet many get knee replacements when all they needed was glucosamine!
I’ve heard and tried it all over time…both hubby and I try most health stuff… what I do is not have too many vitamins at any one day… and take it in turn for each lot…at present… as hubby cramps up a lot from being on his feet all day (mechanical work)  we find that anything magnesium works for him!
I will buy more glucosamine for the next run of pills, potions, and lotions for the joints as this cold weather has taken hold!  :)
All I feel like doing is stand in front of warm fireplace!  ;D

Sure, a poo test or colonoscopy is not the nicest thing to do.
I encourage all to get a poo test often.

Studies have shown that glucosomine can rebuild and repair cartilege. It definitely does for me.  At this stage I only need to take a maintenance dose of one tablet every two or three days.  But if I were to go off it for some time, such as a couple of months, I'd soon be reminded to start taking it again!  Regarding knees, I did notice back when I had the hip trouble, I could hear my knees creaking when I went downstairs in the morning to the kitchen. I've never had this problem again since taking glucosomine.

However it's the only supplement I take apart from fish oil.

Regarding the magnesium, I discussed all those supplements with the dietitian.  She said that before anyone goes on it, they should have a blood test first to determine whether they actually are deficient because it is so abundant in food and most people do not have a deficiency. You would have to be suffering from some very stressful symptoms such as muscle spasms, cramps and weakness, nausea and poor appetite, tingling and numbness.  As you said, your hubby does have muscle cramps.

But he could also try an Epsom salts bath!  The jury might be out, but some do believe that magnesium can be well absorbed through the skin.  I found it helped enormously with the aches from physical exertion. I know I would come home at 11 pm after a particularly difficult shift and just lie back and soak in an Epsom salts bath for half an hour or so and then have a good nights sleep till 8 or 9 in the morning.

And yes, warm fireplaces are great.  I've just come back from the Blue Mountains and the wood burning heater just warmed up the whole house.  Downside, you have to chop wood.   :-/

Yes it does. I’ve got the magnesium cream  :)
Re: chopping wood… we have a log splitter… best thing ever! But it still all takes time, wood has to be stored dry under cover, winter here at back of bbq verandah is very industrial looking with wood in large containers backed up with tractor forklifts.
Come summer I’m glad it goes… I clean up bbq area for summer.

Agree - log splitters, chainsaws and a place to store it!  In my son's case, it's the stone house.  A lovely building of sandstone blocks with stain glass windows of native birds - all built by the guy who first owned the property.  It was meant to be a pleasant outdoor place to have dinner parties and so on in summer or winter.  But now just used to store wood.   :-/

Yep, good advice.

My best friend died because he didn't get tested early enough.

The camera up the butt isn't much fun (the preparation is the worst bit), but it's well worth the effort.
