Agree.
Adult is anyone 20+ years of age. Because a 19 year old is still a teenager just like a 13 year old is. Still a kid. The fact that late teens are sometimes forced to consider themselves as adults, is probably the reason why the crime, violence etc. Let them enjoy the innocence of youth to their max and maybe they won't be so guilty in failing to be adults. Legal sex should be 20+ too. How much better will it be for them to experience such when their teenie hormones stabilise after that. |

Then children should have the rights of adults, such as voting.

No - the idea is that if they abrogate the rights of others, they pay the time. They're not forwarded on to the Big House until they are eighteen... wassa madda you? So as reward for being a murderer etc - they get to vote early? Is that the idea? |

Children being treated as adults, all children not jailed, they must be eligible to vote and run for government. At the same time, consequences for actions must apply to governments, considering our current society was created by multitudes of bad decisions over the past 200+ years. If politicians are shown to have made decisions detrimental for today's children, hanging them could fit their crime. For example. Queensland politicians allowing ecological damage that lowers the current living standards of today's children. This is a crime. |

I agree with Adult time for adult crime.
We are not talking about a mistake here. It's not a teen who had a brainless moment. We are talking about a young criminal who has deliberately damaged an innocent persons life |

Bobby,
You can't lock up the apex gang. Channel 7 and 9 news won't have any content |

In Melbourne we all live in fear of the gangs now. Channel 7 and 9 news, reinforces our fears. There are 40 gangs now, fighting for territory. The cops are on to all of them but the magistrates let them out on bail. You can do certain things to help - e.g. don't fill up for petrol at night to avoid car jackings and stabbings. |

We really need to pass legislation that politicians and the judiciary must live in houses with public housing in close proximity. This would keep them grounded. Alternatively, people released on bail should be accommodated in bail houses , as the next door neighbours of judges. After all, they are safe to reside in the community, are they not ? |

I know someone who lives in a block of 10 or more Units. Some of those Units were bought by the Govt back in the 1990s and are let out to disadvantaged people as community housing. The people who live in those special Units are nothing but trouble - cops are there once per week sorting out issues: violence, domestic disputes with weapons, alcoholism, drug abuse, vandalism, graffiti, unpaid fines, gang membership. Imagine having to put up with that? That's what Judges and Magistrates need to experience. |

"If a kid comes at you with a gun in hand - are you suggesting we do not shoot him?"
The Making Queensland Safer (Adult Crime, Adult Time) Amendment Bill 2025 provides for an additional 20 Adult Crime, Adult Time offences, including attempted murder, rape, attempted rape, torture, aggravated attempted robbery, trafficking in dangerous drugs, and endangering a police officer when driving a motor vehicle. Sure, society protected from gun violence, no issue there. Thing is, for a child to get a gun suggests lax gun laws. My main issues are 1. trafficking in dangerous drugs. Children trafficing are probably doing so to feed a drug addiction. Jailing a child for an addiction is overkill. 2. endangering a police officer when driving a motor vehicle. Racial profiling would mean any dark skin child behind a wheel will be jailed. Children in jail will result in recidivism. That's a waste of life and a massive longterm cost on society. |

Title: Re: Adult time for adult crime Post by Jasin on May 29th, 2025 at 8:03pm
The saving grace as a child (like those children soldiers in Africa) is that childhood allows that window of innocence/opportunity to change their way. For the poison to not take full effect. For a better chance for their soul and mind to redeem them.
If they believe they are adults, then it's more likely they are set in stone and inner innocence will never have the chance to allow them to change. |

If a teen under 18 commits what is considered adult crime then they should do adult time. You try telling them they aren't adults for everything else ....... only a kid when they're in strife. They know right from wrong. |

Jailing kids just teaches them that you've given up on them and teaches to become better criminals.
For repeat offenders or offenders of serious crime, they should set up programs and send them to work on a remote outback station for 6 months, no contact with mates or family except for snail mail to family, where they are taught about respect and responsibility. Until they learn both, they stay there. If they break the law again, repeat ... this time for 12 months minimum. If they continue on a life of crime after that, then lock them up |

Our Gaols have become havens for more crime to cultivate within them. The human rights of Leftism has turned out Gaols into softie punishment. The Gaol is meant to be harder than the Prisoners, not the other way around.
These days, Prisoners have much 'stimulations', from being able to enact violence on other prisoners, to raping them, cigarettes, weed, mobile phones, outdoor gyms, basketball and even Uni degrees. It's a farce! More like a holiday resort for the wicked. They must be laughing at the public. All the creature comforts like fresh 18 year old meat brought in so the likes of Travis and the Murphy's can get first pick now that they're established high in the hierarchy of Scum Lords. Prisons, Gaols, Dungeons main core punishment is to remove all stimulation via isolation in a cell. Sight, sound, activity. You take a person's life. You do time, being voided of all facets of life like being thrown in a void of nothingness itself. It's so bad, you would relish getting outside chipping rocks like Nelson Mandela. Seems the human rights of Prisoners comes before that of the human rights of society. |

Title: Re: Adult time for adult crime Post by Jasin on Jun 1st, 2025 at 12:52pm
Do some sightseeing in our Gaols, like I have. Junee prisoners look 'happy'. There is no hard time.
The British used real hard time methods here. Now, our Gaols have become more like the American versions. I'm talking the general incarceration a more than the stricter maximums... which still allow Prisoners a level of stimulating freedoms. |
