Two men have been arrested and another has been hospitalised after a
machete brawl involving about 10 people broke out at a shopping centre
in Melbourne’s north on Sunday afternoon.

Northland Shopping Centre in Preston went into lockdown after knife-wielding men were seen fighting, as people hid inside stores and police swarmed the scene.

Police are providing an update on the lockdown and reported knife attacks at Northland shopping centre.


“Police have arrested two people following an affray involving around 10 people in Preston this afternoon,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“Emergency services were called to the Murray Road shopping centre just after 2.30pm following reports of opposing groups fighting, some armed with knives.

“One male was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition. Police arrested two males who are currently being interviewed.

“The centre was locked down as the incident took place and remains closed while police investigate.


“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated but it is believed the incident was targeted and parties are believed to be known to each other.”

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said one man in his 20s was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition with upper body injuries.

Two boys aged 15 and 16 have been charged with multiple offences after what police described as a gang-related altercation at Northland Shopping Centre. A 20-year-old man was seriously injured in the incident, as police continue to search for several others. Victoria Police Superintendent Kelly Lawson says the brawl was a planned meet-up between two rival gangs.

Northland shopping centre in Melbourne was locked down on Sunday as Victoria police responded to reports of 'two rival groups' fighting each other with knives. A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, allegedly the 'primary offenders', were arrested at the scene. When I was in LA – the nightclubs had those at the door -
it was like airport security to get inside.
However they did have armed guards – with pistols in holsters -

I can sort of understand why -

Video of the demonstration shows the black-clad activists chanting “White man, fight back” three times while lined up under the Northland sign.

Northland was put in lockdown at about 2.30pm last Sunday after a clash between rival gangs, and disturbing images of an African thug wielding a machete sparked public outrage.

A shopping centre in Melbourne's west has been locked down
after the second incident involving machetes in a fortnight.


Victoria Police said a group of between five and six males armed with the knives were arguing inside the CS Square shopping centre in Caroline Springs about 6:40pm on Friday.

The centre went into lockdown as police arrived and officers found the group had already fled the scene.

It comes just 12 days after a dramatic pre-organised gang brawl involving machetes inside Northland Shopping Centre in Preston forced its evacuation on May 25. Seven people have since been charged over the Preston incident

Audrey Young, who was working at the Caroline Springs shopping centre on Friday night, said there was a commotion, before a man dressed head-to-toe in black began waving his arms around.

All it will take Bobby, is for CCTV to show you pulling out your Longsword like a Sir Brave Knight, at the Machete scum and scaring them off. You would be an international star, like Crocodile Dundee or Jedi Bobby.  :D
