Title: The 50 year rocket Post by chimera on May 18th, 2025 at 6:43pm
Qld's rocket is no-go as the nose-cone is dodgy.
'WRESAT (Weapons Research Establishment Satellite), launched on 29 November 1967, was Australia’s first satellite. In 1970, the Oscar satellite was built by a group of University of Melbourne students, all aged in their 20s'. The boys used bed springs and sticky-tape but it worked...50 years ago. |

'TESTFLIGHT 1 POSTPONED DUE TO PRE-LAUNCH ANOMALY
During final launch preparations last night, an electrical fault triggered the system that opens the rocket’s nose cone (the payload fairing). 𝗔𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁, 𝘄𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 to fully understand what happened and make any necessary updates.' This may involve changing 'open' to 'close' a switch. NSW Railways is on the case and is untangling a pantograph, cable and Union OHS regulations. |

Maybe it just needs a Welcome to Country ceremonial smoking?

By the late 10th century in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the Chinese had adapted gunpowder to rockets. To make such an arrow, first a papertube was made; then the gunpowder was put inside the tube, which was then attached to an arrow to be launched by a bow. Then the gunpowder was directly carried inside an arrow. It was smoking to welcome to country.
