Ok , it’s going too happen and it’s been happening regardless last election results.

What “positive thoughts “ do you have on achieving a population of 60 million people in the next five years?

i think our rural cities especially away from the coast are perfectly positioned to be developed and have the corresponding public facilities built.

Thoughts?

We need a fast train linking all the big regional areas, as well as to new areas that people can move to and build cities.

And we need to decentralise services

60 million people in the next five years?

We are at 27 million now -

Albo will bring in a few million more in the next 3 years.

I'd say we would have about a 30 million population here in 5 years.

( replying to John smith)

That’s a value idea and definitely something to plan for longer term.

I believe rather than rail ( which is also importan particularly for industrial uses )we need better and cheaper air links between cities.

There is absolutely nothing stopping us from making Alice springs a city of several million.

It can be done the question is how best?

Plan for the worst hope for the best😎

It’s going too happen so let’s just do it !

I speculate a extra 30 million people in the next five could seriously help with Australian balance sheet.

But how do we do it?

Absolutely. Have a friend that had to fly from Coffs to Townsville for a family emergency. No direct flights so had to fly from Coffs to Sydney, then Sydney to Townnsville.
Cost her $2500 one way.

Meanwhile my sister regularly flies Oslo to London or Rome for $50 to $100 plus tax

air fares here are a rort, especially in the smaller towns

I think Aussie airfares are the most expensive in the world.

Fantasy.

As is doubling the population in 5 years, btw.  We can hardly cope with an annual increase of 2% (three quarters of which is overseas migration), itself a huge rate of increase.

The composition of the population matters greatly. Doubling the population with third worlders will transform the country. You change the people, you change the country.
Where will those extra 30 million come from?
