Virginia Giuffre, Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein accuser, dies

Virginia Giuffre, who accused Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse, has died by suicide aged 41, her family has said.

Ms Giuffre was one of the most outspoken accusers of convicted sex offenders Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, his former girlfriend. She alleged they trafficked her to the Duke of York when she was 17, which Prince Andrew has strenuously denied.

Relatives said in a statement on Friday that she had been a "fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse", and that the "toll of abuse... became unbearable".

"She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking," they said.

The statement described the mother of three "as the light that lifted so many survivors" and
said she died on Friday at her farm in Western Australia.

West Australia police said they were called to a home in the Neergabby area on Friday night, where Ms Giuffre was found unresponsive.

A statement continued: "The death is being investigated by Major Crime detectives; early indication is the death is not suspicious."

Ms Giuffre - who was born in the US - had been living with her children and husband Robert in the suburb of North Perth, although recent reports suggested the couple had split after 22 years of marriage.

Three weeks ago, Ms Giuffre posted on Instagram to say she had been seriously injured in a car accident, which her family later said she had not intended to make public. Local police later disputed the severity of the crash.

Giuffre, a mother of three, was one of the most vocal accusers of the wealthy and well-connected sex offender Epstein.
In 2019, she publicly alleged Epstein trafficked her and forced her to have sex with his friends, including Prince Andrew, when she was 17 years old.

She also claimed the prince was aware she was underage in the US at the time.

Prince Andrew repeatedly denied the claims.

In July 2019, Epstein was indicted on one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors, to which he pleaded not guilty. One month later, he died by suicide in prison.

He was accused of running a child trafficking ring to provide him with girls as young as 14 for sex and nude massages at his homes in New York City and Florida between 2002 and 2005.

A 2009 settlement agreement, unsealed in 2022, showed that Epstein paid Giuffre $500,000 to drop a case without any admission of liability or fault.

Prior to that, Epstein pleaded guilty in 2008 to state prostitution charges, one involving a 14-year-old girl, and served 13 months in prison under a controversial plea deal.

His ex-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in 2020 and accused of facilitating Epstein’s abuse scheme. A jury in 2021 convicted her on five federal counts, including sex trafficking a minor and conspiracy. She was sentenced to 20 years in jail a year later.

Giuffre was not one of the four women who testified in the trial that they had been abused.

Too sad. She was a trooper! A beacon of light for others to stand up to that sort of sexual abuse.
It just seems out of place for someone with such strength to commit suicide. To leave her 3 children behind? They were her light and strength.
I know she had a car accident where a bus hit her car and she presented into Perth hospital….did they prescribe some type medication that may have made her suicide… I’ve heard some can go out of character in certain meds, I had a dear friend suicide after being on medication…. My friend would no way ever have left her daughters … she loved them so much….

The death of Virginia Giuffre will leave questions that are now likely to remain unanswered.

Her name will always be associated with the scandals and criminality surrounding the late billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his circle - with Ms Giuffre one of the most prominent among his accusers, revealing the trafficking and sexual exploitation of young women.

The photo of her and Prince Andrew, taken in London in 2001, became emblematic of the royal's entanglement with Epstein and was central to his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019.

The origins of the picture remain uncertain. But Ms Giuffre's death adds another layer to the mystery of what must have inadvertently become one of the most widely viewed photos in royal history.

Epstein - who was said to have taken the photo - died in jail facing sex trafficking charges.

Ghislaine Maxwell - who helped him abuse young girls and is pictured to the right of Prince Andrew and Ms Giuffre - is in prison in the US. Prince Andrew has stepped down from all public duties. And Virginia Giuffre, a smiling teenager in the photo, is now dead.

Ms Giuffre - who was born in the US - died by suicide at her farm in Western Australia aged 41, her family said on Friday.

Prince Andrew has always strongly denied any wrongdoing involving Ms Giuffre.

They reached an out-of-court settlement in 2022, in which Prince Andrew paid an undisclosed amount of money.

A statement with the settlement expressed regret on his part - but contained no admission of liability or an apology. Prince Andrew has always denied all the accusations against him.

The prospect of Prince Andrew facing a court hearing in New York was averted by the settlement, but it had been a huge problem for the Royal Family, and Prince Andrew was swiftly removed from all official public roles.

His reputation has never recovered.

At this stage, there is still much that is not known about Ms Giuffre's last days or her personal circumstances.

But as her family has said, as a young woman, she had the strength to stand up to a toxic mix of power, money and privilege in the circle surrounding Epstein, that sexually exploited so many girls.

There will be suspicions the long shadow of Epstein's poisonous misuse of wealth and influence has indirectly claimed another victim.

Given where she was living, an isolated area but still close to a major city, she was likely being protected by Australian operatives from any attempt to murder her by whoever...

Given also that any kind of harm that she could have suffered would have been blowback on Prince Andrew (as her suicide will be now), Britain's security services would have worked with Australia's to ensure her security and protection.

Even the US would not have been trustworthy enough to ensure her safety, given the degree of information she likely had on the highest-ranked US politicians and others.

When driving on the road…. it’s all open season… no protection from an “accident”….
And this second “car accident” since January….
Her body would barely be healing from one, let alone 2 accidents where both of these car accidents were not little bumps.

Some - not all - live within the victim, oppressor, saviour cycle... no matter their situation, they will always play the victim - you actually see a lot of that these days now that is is 'acceptable' for women to be victims all the time and for governments to use that as a political too as they so clearly do.

Did she - for example - write a book or something about her experiences - something that might shed light on why she was into Epstein Tours at all etc?  What was the motivation for a number of young girls to actively participate in what they had to know was sex romps..  There have been tales of money... so young and malleable girls paid to take part and have a holiday - they might think nothing of it... might as well get something out of it.

First I will give my feelings about it. It truly is a very sad, tragic life and ending… so young (my daughter’s age).
Second, teen girls are hard to manage. They want to be independent, be worldly and have fun.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
But they need the security of family to fall back on.
From what I recall, some of these girls that the scout (whatshername in jail) seek to find those that are a bit abused already as young teens, feel dejected and are ripe for the picking.
“oh you look beautiful, I can help you do modelling or… I can get you a massage job” etc
It’s music to a young girls ears.

As for the grown up men flocking to these places, knowing full well they are underage, well why are they all cowering now? Why not expose the reports?
