SO2 releases can be as high as 4 metric tons of sulfur dioxide per metric ton of nickel produced.
There is .16- .6 ton SO2 in EV battery.
Road vehicles in the United States released 11000 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) in 2023.
In 2022, there were approximately 283.4 million vehicles registered in the United States.
11000kg SO2 in  283000 cars.  25kg each car. = .025 ton SO2.
[.16  -.6 is more than .025]
The amount is equal for a petrol car in 6 to 24 years.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas but SO2 is not. 'SO2 is released naturally through volcanic activity and forest fires, but human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and industrial processes, are significant sources.'

I won't be buying an electric car - stick with my turbo diesel SUV ... economical and clean.  I use fuel additives and such, keep it smick.  That damage to environment and people was appalling.... true Third World stuff - might as well be slaves to the Chinese emperor.  Twelve coal-fired power stations to run that nickel extraction etc?  And here I was just saying the biggest pollution is Northern Hemisphere and down here we affect nothing.... prevailing winds will blow that shot all over New Guinea and such and the 'cyclones' or prevailing clock-wise wind circles anyway - will push it to Northern Australia ... gassing the natives.

Maybe the NT government could do some tests for arsenic and nickel and such levels without reason.  Never forget Maralinga and the prevailing winds... we all copped some of it in my generation - and I read up on it years ago as a young larrikin - Strontium 90, an isotope of Calcium, lodges in 'hot spots' in growing children's bodies... and we drank a lot of milk then, ate a lot of coon cheese and such...

He's a parasitic ($$) yet also a blinkered Green gimmick zealot of sorts. The Greenies are more violent these days aren't they. They even have military interests.
