Now, what I am pissed off about right now is that when I applied for the postal votes online a week or two back they needed a mobile number and email address.

And it said something like "you understand that we will share you name and address with political parties" or something like that. (It didn't say phone number or email address).

Today, I get an SMS from a mobile number which said something like (I deleted it so I can't remember the exact words):

"We note that you've recently registered for postal voting. To vote for Roger Cook and the ALP tap on this link..." so it's obviously come from the ALP.

I've blocked the number and reported it as spam and I'll do the same for any others that I get from any political party and then I'll make a formal complaint.

At least if they start spamming the email address I provided on the postal voting application I can just close it down because I used a second Gmail address that I hardly use these days.

I wonder what happened to privacy in this country? Assholes.

It's risky giving out you mobile number to anywhere these days.

I even had weeks of spam calls many times after being in hospital for
either a minor operation or a medical procedure..
My suspicion is that someone in those hospitals was selling
mobile numbers and names to the dark web.
Of course you can never prove it -
I tried many times to find out where they got my name and number
and they would never tell me -
and would just continue with their sales spin.
You just have to hang up and block their number and
eventually they go away.

While the electoral roll was closed to new voters on February 13 — a standard procedure during elections — the reforms offer a ballot to those who were not able to organise their enrolment, or were not citizens at the time.

A Home Affairs spokesperson said in the past two weeks, since the roll was closed, 3586 people were conferred with Australian citizenship in WA.

It comes after Mr Burke, the Federal Immigration Minister, faced criticism for swearing in thousands of new Australians on the cusp of a Federal poll, due before May 17.

I wonder if Amber-Jade Sanderson, the Member for Morley and current State Health Minister went door knocking before the election?

If she had and I lived in Morley I would have asked her if the government plans on mentioning Covid in this year's (presumably) upcoming "Don't Assume You're Immune" (or whatever they decide to call it) vaccination advertising campaign?

Because they completely "ignored" it last year.

And, if she tried to act dumb or confused (not hard for her or any of the pollies) I would have said "You know - COVID or SARS-CoV-2. The virus that is still at least 10 times more deadly than the flu and it killed 260 West Australians in the first half of last year ("only" 14 flu deaths and 0 RSV deaths during that same time).

I would also add "And, by the way - it still hasn't 'gone away' or become less deadly despite what governments and big business want everyone to believe".

Hannah was extremely helpful to me and my parents during the last two years of their lives.

And, since mum passed away in October Hannah has helped me even more.

Just like her father - the wonderful Kim Beazley - she actually cares about her constituents and goes out of her way to help them when she can.

I always say, and still say and will say - that Australia needs a new party that actually watches over - caretakes - for all of the people equally and represents the people's wishes.

I know those are hard calls...

Think on the terror - we could have had a Higgins and a Deuce as federal members or similar.... on the professional trail until they stuffed up big time  in their hubris.. how many other bullets has Australia escaped?

If this were a different world, I'd suspect Deuce was being 'sheep-dipped' for insertion into - say - something extreme right wing or similar ..... Higgins to be a sleeper close to the heart wood in Geneva and keep an eye on our European 'Allies'... don't laugh...

Son - the all care about their people................... that's a given..... let's try by example.... I care about the suffering of the innocents or relatively innocents in Gaza, as much as I care for the suffering of Israeli families who have lost terribly and continue to lose ... that doesn't mean that I will whole-heartedly vote to support Gazans unilaterally and unconditionally ...

Caring is an emotion - the mind - just like with the trannies - makes the final arbitration on what will 'be'.... I can sympathise with those Abos doing it tough - doesn't mean I will give them the world.

You need to separate people from policies and policy thrusts - I said here years ago that I judge politicians not by their public face - but by their actions on the ground.... Smiling Assassins of all you genuinely hold dear are still assassins.

It was SO good to wake up to ABC Insiders, this morning, to see at least one sector (state) of the Australian population has dumped all the Dutton rhetoric, blaming every Labor Government - and leaders - for the world-wide problems of inflation and unemployment

Rishi Sunak and the Tories were turfed out given the blame  in the UK for the world-wide problems of inflation, high cost of living and unemployment

Kamala Harris and the Democrats were turfed out government in the US and given the blame for the world-wide problems of inflation, high cost of living and unemployment.

The governments of France and Germany have taken big hits for being the cause of world-wide inflation.

Australia's next - where you can expect the opposition to be blaming the Federal Albanese Labor Government for everything that's wrong with the world.

The strategy has worked everywhere ELSE - so why wouldn't it work in AUSTRALIA ?
