Title: Summer Solstice
Post by Grappler Truth Teller Feller on Dec 21st, 2024 at 6:20am
Argh, aye - now be time for more light to fall on Ozpol cellar dwellers.... those lucky souls who live in the fortunate times of having wiser heads to belay their rampant thoughts with reason....

On top of that - it's the Summer Solstice - and from now on our light will fade slowly while the frozen North's light rises and maybe less snow will fall in Britain.

Jesus - this DNA thing is amazing - they've now narrowed a third of my ancestors down to the Orkneys - I feel privileged.... not even the mainland of Northern Europe or Scotland but a Nordic mix as we all know... sea wanderers ...

Arhhh - be Orcadian.... and a few other things.... I have got to be a ring in given that my grandmother's father was pure Irish...

If there was 2 hours daylight saving for solar panels, there may be no need for Dutton's gold-plated fusion con.

They've narrowed me down Grapps, to Homo Erectus.

Aussie Summers are harsh like Winters for Russia

Yes - you don't bog down in the frozen mud - your tyres break on the hot ground.

Bloody hell - same strains as Norway (again), Greenland and such....and migrated Scots.... Orcadians... what happened to the predominantly Irish?  They can't even see my grandmother's line - the only Irish they give me is the great-granny on the other side.... from Killarney .... I have got to be a ring-in ...

'Russia's winter temperatures are warming due to climate change with heat waves. In 2020,  Moscow was 7.5 degrees C above average'.
The Russian government has approved plans to adapt to climate change, mostly caused by Ukraine ammunition worth $Au200 billion.

There should be more comments.

People have lost their spirituality.

the summer solstice marks the birth of Christ.

You are mixed up:

What happened on 14 June 1946?

A total lunar eclipse took place on Friday, June 14, 1946. The northern tip of the moon passed through the center of the Earth's shadow. This was the first central lunar eclipse of Saros series 129.

Yep, and we've felt every minute of it today.

38 degrees and there's more to come.

Perth Forecast

41 tomorrow and Monday!

Hey, look... 23 degrees forecast for Christmas Day.  We have to go to Mindarie (36km north of Perth City and right next to the ocean) at 5pm that day for a catch-up and meal with friends.

Could be a bit cold. Might have to take a jumper.  ;D

'The best known quarries are Paradise, Purgatory and Hell Hole, named by the stone masons who worked them'. https://pyrmonthistory.net.au/quarries1

'One of the first quarries in Sydney was established on Bennelong Point by Samuel Peyton, a 19-year-old stonemason who had been convicted of stealing 200 shillings in 1784 and sentenced to deportation for seven years. He arrived with the first fleet on the Alexander in 1788 as the only stonemason in the Colony.'

I was thinking this last night, when I was walking home. I queried whether I had passed the longest day of the year. I got in bed and fell asleep a few times. Then I woke up to the sun coming up at 5 in the morning. I fell asleep and woke up at 9 in the morning, thinking that it was midday.

I did not have much of a winter to enjoy. Hope it will be a cold winter this year. It seems like it will be cold this coming year.

Mad Melbourne weather! It’s weird.
It was 12 deg this morning, cold winds, and now at lunchtime raining!
No wonder my bones were aching! Change in weather from one extreme to another!

Hubby got the fireplace going.

Early this morning I had 2 jumpers on a and a beanie.
It's weird weather indeed -
the other day it was nearly 40 C.   :o

"...got the fireplace going"???

37°C today. 41°C tomorrow. Going to be doing the lawn this afternoon. And then I will have that rusting clothesline taken out of the backyard.

I bought 45L of water to consume over the fortnight. I am more than halfway through the packs.

Very weird how southern states have their southern weather. Up here, it gets to March before you even consider putting the hot water system on. It can get around to anywhere from late August to early October before you even consider having cold showers.

I did not experience a hot day until October this year. I was still using jackets until September. The only way that I would experience a cold night in summer would be if we had a hailstorm and then follow up rain for a few days. I actually use the hot water system on those days. But, usually, I have cold showers anywhere from September to March.
