I don't see why it bothers you. Every gay man is one less man competing with you, for females.

Logically though, you should resent lesbians.

Is there anyway some of you can grow up and realise calling someone gay isn’t actually a massive thing?

It’s 2024 ffs.

We no longer burn witches at a bonfire!

I really don’t care what sexually you or anyone else is.

So long as it’s legal go root like rabbits for all I care.

Really I was told some posts ago to be better with my spelling.

This is a intellectual forum 🤣

“ hey poofter buggerkkk off!”

Really? How old are you and what world do you live in other than the internet?

Did you follow the logic?

More gay men means more women for you to choose from.
More lesbians means fewer women for you to choose from.

So let's get to the reason why you engaged in subtle, and less than subtle, poofter bashing. It's a bit late to claim you were just talking about halloween.

It's a religious festival, (all hallow's eve ... ie all saints) which has been ruthlessly exploited by capitalism. If you really care about the traditional halloween, you will boycott all the candy and costumes stuff, turn out your lights, and pray in darkness.

Maybe crucify a rabbit. Crucifixion is a barbaric practice, so you shouldn't do it to dog or a pig ... certainly not to a human. But some of the pagan religions call for live sacrifice, and "all hallows" means all religions. Crucify a rabbit for this old atheist, who lacks the religious fervor to crucify a fly.

It's a pretty word. Somewhere in the collective psyche of homophobes, is some sympathy for poofters.

Compare with "fag" or "faggot" which are just ugly words.

Kind of irrelevant, but I was put on a work program with a teenager who used the f-word and the c-word whenever possible. Sometimes twice in the same sentence. I taught him to say "mongrel" with emphasis on the "mong" and he pretty much stopped swearing. He never actually graduated to a job, but then, I didn't either.

I would think that "Bobby" has a partner that might be a little gay. Bobby is probably not sure if Bobby's partner is gay. So "Bobby" has to passively-aggressively take his frustrations out on social media platforms, just in case Bobby's partner looks over Bobby's shoulder and reads up (on some kind of display screen) about Bobby's commitment to Bobby's partner.

I think that just about covers all the bases.

I have seen this happen many times throughout the history of my life. People that use their teenaged years to discover who they are by rebelling against authority. Then there are those people that act like they have no responsibilities to their community, because they think they are owed a living.

Give some thought to this possibility: If you were nabbed, tied up, put into a car and taken 100km from your last known location, and let loose in the rural areas, what would you do?

Yelling out "help" would do little to ease your pain. Swearing might attract attention of some wild animals. And if you don't know how to build a fire or construct basic shelter, you are basically done. Anyone can walk 100km with nothing more than a mobile phone and the clothes and backpack as possession. They won't suffer anything more than some minor dehydration before they can get a mobile phone signal. But what of those people that lose their phones, their shoes and are given nothing more than a lighter to use, with their cigarettes, whilst they are dumped out in the bush?

We did this scenario back in the year 1990. It is amazing how valuable a $1 Bic lighter is to people stuck in the bush. Because some people don't know how to light fires without them. They rely on something that does things for them that they cannot easily do for themselves.

By the way, you might as well quit reading my WorkChat articles that I wrote for a few days, whilst my "ex-girlfriend" finished her thesis in Gladstone. Plagiarism is intellectual theft.

Poofters? - there are far too many of them here in Australia.

Is it alright if I explain the situation in a few sentences? Most people born in Australia between the years 1965 and 1982 know this phrase: "Go woke; Go broke". I actually 'coined' the term, along with a few other friends, back in 1997. That was during my first year of university.

If anyone wants to explain why I am wrong in saying "Go woke; Go broke", I would be happy to read your responses.

There are certain individuals in my town to whom think that they run the region. Some of them do. Some of the others think they are automatically entitled to run the region because of their ethnicity. I have no problem with most people of any racial background. However, some people roll up their sleeves and show their tan lines are non-existent, and claim special privileges. I rolled up my sleeves in the year 2021, saw my tan line, from an afternoon of yard work. I claimed to be an ethnic minority and saw no reason to be criticised. I was soundly dismissed by the welfare office as having no concerning reason to claim minority status. No extra help for me.

Does that make an implicit argument as to why people get tired of minorities claiming persecution?

Halloween is the Autumn Harvest festival in the Northern Hemisphere. Christianity is irrelevant to the tradition. In my town, we have a large concentration of North-West European descendants of the first settlers. Halloween is very popular because of our English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Norwegian, and Germanic descendant residents keeping the ancient tradition alive.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween

Halloween, or Hallowe'en[7][8] (less commonly known as Allhalloween,[9] All Hallows' Eve,[10] or All Saints' Eve),[11] is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It is at the beginning of the observance of Allhallowtide,[12] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.[3][13][14][15] In popular culture, the day has become a celebration of horror, being associated with the macabre and supernatural.[16]

One theory holds that many Halloween traditions were influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain, which are believed to have pagan roots.[17][18][19][20] Some go further and suggest that Samhain may have been Christianized as All Hallow's Day, along with its eve, by the early Church.[21] Other academics believe Halloween began solely as a Christian holiday, being the vigil of All Hallow's Day.[22][23][24][25] Celebrated in Scotland and Ireland for centuries, Scottish and Irish immigrants took many Halloween customs to North America in the 19th century,[26][27] and then through American influence various Halloween customs spread to other countries by the late 20th and early 21st century.[

Of course you did.  ::) in your little echo chamber.

Halloween is an American tradition based on Witchcraft and the Occult....Strange considereing how much Chrisianity dominates American society....I always have some choclates and lollies in case any kids show up but it is not a big thing in my area!!!

:-? :-? :-?

Halloween is the Autumn Harvest festival in the Northern Hemisphere. Christianity is irrelevant to the tradition. In my town, we have a large concentration of North-West European descendants of the first settlers. Halloween is very popular because of our English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Norwegian, and Germanic descendant residents keeping the ancient tradition alive.

It was never an Australian tradition - it's only been on the increase during your generation.

Once it was realised it had potential to be another money making event commercially like Easter, Christmas, Mothers & Fathers Days, Valentines Day then it was full steam ahead.

I totally disagree with children going around knocking on strangers doors for lollies (now Yankafied because they're calling it Candy)

Goes against all the Stranger Danger education.

It's like sending the kids around to meet the Paedos.

This was my initial reaction too…. But what I think is happening, home owners put up Halloween decorations on fences/hedges/trees/ etc to say they are open to giving Halloween treats to children.
And I think it means all other houses not decorated should not be approached.
Well I think that’s the way it is.
And I don’t think kids go around alone… they go in small groups.

Gosh the supermarket had amazing specials on chocolates of all sorts and bags of individual chocolates!
Halloween time = sweets on the cheap = dentist bill on the not so cheap!
Last year my son gave me a fistful of chupa chups when I went to visit in case I got caught up with Halloween trick or treating. ;D

It was never about witchcraft.

It is a pagan culture that was taken over by religious fundamentalists. Only the Amish get Halloween right.
