If immigration was merit-based as Immigration authorities claim it is the Indians were rightly given visas ahead of less qualified whites from Europe.

To move from merit-based selection is racist.

My personal experience: white Australian male with two degrees, based on 3 entries into Canada 1990, 2001, 2008 is that Canada's immigration officials are very nasty people and are obstructive even if the applicant's documents are perfectly in order. They deliberately use intimidation to unsettle the applicant in an interrogation.

I watched Canadian immigration official obstruct a white American for over one hour before they granted him entry. He told me he was accustomed to this and was quite nonchalant.

I never had any trouble entering the USA in 1981, 1989, 2001, 2008, 2010. Less than a minute each time.

I can't understand why Canada's immigration officials are so nasty.

Same old story: Canada preferred to import (low-skilled) workers and pay them low wages,  instead of training their own workers for higher wages. 

Such is the outcome of the current neoliberal 'small government' (low taxes, balanced govt. budget orthodoxy).

All while decreasing public housing; needless to say "progresive" Trudeau (like Albo) is on the nose, in the current cost of living crisis.
