They're supposed to stop turning in high winds which protects motor but not the structure Wind pressure is about 51 pounds per square foot in 100mph winds. When you add up square footage of turbine blades and tower there is a lot of force trying to blow it over. A storm like that would probably destroy solar panels as well which would leave you in the dark if wind and solar are your sources. |
