Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke today with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and told him Iran’s military preparations suggest Iran is getting ready for a large-scale attack on Israel, Axios reporter Barak Ravid says on X, citing a source with knowledge of the call.

Iran says it is trying to catch Israel by surprise. But this is impossible when they have been on heightened alert since 7 October.

All that is happening is the longer this goes on, the more prepared Israel will be.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has denounced as “a clear violation” of the UN Charter the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, warning the Israeli regime that it will receive the response to its “foolish” terrorist act in due time.

Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, the IRGC’s spokesman and deputy head of the Public Relations Department, made the remarks at a ceremony to commemorate National Journalists' Day in the country's central province of Qom on Sunday.

He went on to say that the assassination of the Hamas chief “was an example of a cognitive and political war that was carried out to create sedition and reduce the deterrence of the resistance front.”

The IRGC spokesman further noted that the fear of Iran’s response has engulfed the entire occupied territories, stressing that the Israeli regime thinks it can compensate for its defeats on the battlefield by conducting assassinations, while its existence and identity are on the brink of collapse.

He also said the Israeli regime has failed in weakening the morale of the resistance front, which was one of the goals of this assassination and has not achieved its military objectives either.

Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were assassinated in Tehran on July 31, a day after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Following the assassination, the IRGC stated that Haniyeh was martyred by a "short-range projectile" launched from outside his residence in Tehran.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has warned the Israeli regime of a "harsh response" for the assassination of Haniyeh, saying the Islamic Republic must avenge the blood of the Palestinian resistance leader.

"The leaders of Britain, France and Germany have issued a stark warning to Iran not to escalate tensions in the Middle East, as Israel fears an attack on them following the killing of Hamas' leader.

In a joint statement this morning, Sir Keir Starmer joined with Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz to personally name Iran in a warning not to make a huge mistake.

The trio said that while negotiations over Israel and Palestine must be resumed immediately, and the fighting end, they are "deeply concerned by the heightened tensions in the region".

They said they are "united in our commitment to de-escalation and regional stability".

"In this context, and in particular, we call on Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks that would further escalate regional tensions and jeopardise the opportunity to agree a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

"They will bear responsibility for actions that jeopardise this opportunity for peace and stability. No country or nation stands to gain from a further escalation in the Middle East."

The statement came hours after it emerged that the USA has ordered the deployment of guided missile submarines to the Middle East.

The Pentagon confirmed the sub deployment after a call between Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Israeli counterpart on Sunday.

A statement said Secretary Austin had "reiterated the United States' commitment to take every possible step to defend Israel and noted the strengthening of US military force posture and capabilities throughout the Middle East in light of escalating regional tensions".

Iranian army officials told the theocratic country's news agency that its military drills are now aimed at "enhancing combat readiness and vigilance".

While Western countries are urging restraint from Iran, Israeli intelligence now believes their next-door enemy will launch a direct attack within days.

This morning the Times of Israel says there are 'several' reports now that Israel is expecting "a major Iranian attack" to be launched within days.

They say: "The reports marked a reversal of the previous prevailing assumption, which had been that the Islamic Republic - under heavy international pressure - had given up its initial intention to launch an imminent large-scale attack in response to the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, which Israel hasn't confirmed nor denied carrying out".

The Axios news site however now cites two sources that the attack could come before renewed ceasefire-hostage deal talks on Thursday."

Germany’s Lufthansa Group has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman and Erbil up to and including Aug. 21, the airline says amid fears of an escalation in conflict in the Middle East.

Lufthansa will not be using Iranian and Iraqi airspace during that period, it adds in an emailed statement.

At the same time, Swiss International Air Lines says it has also extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut up to and including August 21.

It adds that it will avoid airspace over Iran, Iraq and Israel until that date.

The Arabs in "Palestine" gained the land originally through conquest in 636–637 AD.

But they call themselves the indigenous people of the land, to the point they have appropriated the Aboriginal flag and tried to insert themselves into that struggle to gain equivalence.

Shouldn't they be repaying the people who they stole the land from?

Israeli jets recently practiced mid-air refueling to prepare for long-range sorties, the military announced Friday in what was seen as a stark warning to Iran, as the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon sought to flex its own muscle by showing off an underground silo for precision missiles.

The region has been bracing for a major escalation in violence for more than two weeks, since Israel killed Hezbollah’s military chief Fuad Shukr and was blamed for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, drawing promises to retaliate from both Iran and its Lebanese proxy.

Israel has been on high alert and has warned that it would respond if Iran or Hezbollah attack, even as low-level clashes with the Lebanese group continued Friday along Israel’s northern border.

The Israeli Air Force’s drill on Thursday “simulated a long-range flight deep in enemy territory, while conducting aerial refueling several times in short periods,” the IDF said, in an apparent reference to a potential strike in Iran or deep in Lebanon.
