Title: Mitsubishi Motors to join Honda-Nissan alliance
Post by Laugh till you cry on Jul 29th, 2024 at 1:47pm
Sad news for competition and diversity of technology.

Three competitors merged into one.

This will result in a reduction in the number of factories, sales offices, and service locations as well as reducing the amount of innovation.

Tesla and Chinese automakers are investing heavily in electric vehicles, and Japanese automakers can't compete in terms of scale and supply chain. The major shift in the auto industry will drive a major reorganization, including other sectors in Japan. ...

I personally prefer my car's made in China.

Wow, I just read this out to hubby and doesn’t think it’s good news.
Prices may go up and then with less service centres or after sales market…
Then I ask what will happen with 2nd hand cars once the merger happens?
Less care factor?

It reminds me when during the 90s recession a lot of real estate agents merged together instead of competing with one another.

The brands will probably stay distinct but they're sharing tech on EVs to compete with China.

Not a big deal

I think Honda sales have almost stopped.
It may be a case of merge now or die in 15 years time.
