Title: it's going backwards Post by chimera on Jul 19th, 2024 at 3:42pm
We have seen the expectation of things moving ahead but now it's all gone. There's a slippery slope into a primitive swamp of chaos.

"Until recently, the inner core was believed to be spinning slightly faster than the surface of the earth. However, a study published in Nature Geoscience found evidence that the inner core has recently slowed its rotation — matching the spin of Earth's surface — and may soon be rotating even more slowly. Is this a sign of the end of days?"
It's interesting, but- What if the original reading with primative equipment were totally wrong? I appreciate science and research, it keeps otherwise unemployable people from sleeping iunder bridges which at least in Queensland are at standing room only capacity! |

The magnetic field occasionally flips over. At least one reversal could have taken place over a period of one year. https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/it-true-earths-magnetic-field-occasionally-reverses-its-polarity#:~:text=Frequently%20Asked%20Questions-,Is%20it%20true%20that%20Earth's%20magnetic%20field%20occasionally%20reverses%20its,at%20the%20time%20of%20deposition
Reversals have taken place approximately every half-million years. The last reversal happened around 780,000 years ago. The magnetic field is much weaker, as low as a tenth of its normal strength. With a weak electromagnetic field, radiation from space could possibly make some regions of Earth uninhabitable. Concrete shielding reduces the intensity of radiation depending on the thickness and density of the concrete structure.A wooden door of various thicknesses has been used most often in X-ray diagnostic centers around the globe. Scientists who live under bridges are in a good position to survive extinction. |

Magnetic field has declined 9% over the last 200 years according to NASA. If our magnetic field was so low we would not have seen the huge aurora we saw this year.

'The short term aurora variations are usually caused by a flux of charged particles from the sun. Increased variations of the field are indicative of increased auroral activity.'
The aurora KP index changes rapidly and was 8 times higher in June this year than early in 2024. Demand for scientific opinion has never been greater with less AGW beneath Qld bridges. |

But AGW is going well at the poles.
'The world has set a record for the least amount of floating sea ice on the planet as a whole for this time of year. A close look at the data from the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado, Boulder, shows there was 21.55 million sq km of sea ice at both poles on 24 July. The previous record low for that date was last year, when there was 21.61 m sq km.' The experts are in a spin. |
