Title: Passwords and other shhit Post by Agnes.. on Jul 12th, 2024 at 8:50pm
My one pet hate is passwords-
I can make a brand new email account and the moment I do I immediatley forget the password ( i dont actually forget it )- THE PASSWORD JUST DOES NOT WORK WHY IS THAT? MAYBE IT'S JUST ME? Infuriating I think. |

You need a password manager, plus you need to check what you type—not zero for capital O, or maybe you click on Y when you meant to click R, etc. That could be why your passwords don’t work.
Type the password into the password manager then copy and paste it into whatever page you are working on. |

I don't trust password managers with important passwords. Only use them for passwords to places like here. Just make up your own passwords with: lower case letters, capital letters, numbers and symbols - don't use any known words - and write them down on a piece of paper and hide it between 2 pages in a book somewhere where only you know where the piece of paper is and between which pages. If you have 100 books on a bookshelf then that's a nice place to hide that piece of paper. If it's a really important password make it 16 digits long. |

TVI™ gets it wrong—again!
To stop hacking you need long passwords. If you try tricky crap like special characters—zero for ‘O’, ‘1’ for ‘i’ etc—you will trick yourself. That could be why your passwords don’t work, Agness. Select four normal words of 5-8 letters and use them. E.g. “correctbatteryhorsestaple” nice long password, no “tricky” bits. |
