Title: Australia is 22nd on Global food security Index... Post by Laugh till you cry on Jun 27th, 2024 at 1:46pm
... just above the UAE and China.
I bet this would surprise most Australians. Australia scores lower on availability (ranked 48th) and sustainability (ranked 33rd) compared to its total ranking: Quote:

Not surprising for any Australian to know this. Australia produces enough food to feed 60 million people worldwide (on average). The United States can produce enough food to feed 1 billion people worldwide.
Australia, despite its capacity to export food, still needs to import some food from overseas. I have noticed that Australia is reliant on overseas seafood, because of the mess that the seafood industry in Australia is in. The United States practically has every area of their agricultural industries covered. |
