The term “right-wing” is used chiefly as an insult for anyone who stands against the groupthink of received liberal opinion.
The attitude was that anyone who defied the liberal consensus on anything wasn’t just wrong but positively evil and beyond the pale. Now, however, millions of Europeans have voted for “hard-right populists”. So are all these millions also beyond the pale? Yes, say the liberals, and the reason is that evil right-wing people have manipulated them because the public are credulous and stupid. Apparently. One is reminded of the line in Bertolt Brecht’s satirical poem about the East German uprising of 1953 that the government should “dissolve the people and elect another”. It never occurs to the liberal establishment that the problem might be them. What the “populists” have in common, and what is bringing them to power, is that they represent a revolt against a homogeneous political establishment that ignores, scorns or punishes eminently reasonable, and indeed necessary, concerns. This establishment has turned immigration and the related issue of Islamisation into a taboo. Anyone who opposes mass, uncontrolled immigration and the rapid growth of a minority of which a significant proportion want to Islamise western society is anathematised as a racist or Islamophobe. Yet it’s reasonable to cherish a culture that you recognise as home, that upholds values you hold dear and that you share with others. It’s reasonable to want this not to be taken away by politicians who have never asked if you wanted your culture and nation to be transformed. It’s reasonable to want your borders to be controlled and the rates of mass and uncontrolled immigration to be scaled back. It’s reasonable to object to being denounced as a bigot or Islamophobe if you want any of these things. The liberal establishment, however, refuses to attend to these concerns and instead terms them unreasonable and “deplorable”. That’s what has fuelled this “populist” surge. Melanie Phillips |

End of an era.
So it may be la fin d'un ère in more than a Macronian sense. De Gaulle's Fifth Republic was designed to straitjacket French politics into a narrow range of alternating bland left-of-centre/right-of-centre choices. Instead, under the dinky boy, the French centre has utterly imploded. In the village I chance to know best ...(on a seventy-four per cent turnout) forty-seven per cent voted for the "far right" and another twenty-six per cent for the hard left; that doesn't leave a lot for the so-called "mainstream" parties. What will the next week bring? The French establishment is urging "unity" against the Rassemblement National, the elites being so oblivious they think it's still 2002 when Chirac faced off against Marine's dad and the masses could be cajoled to "vote for the crook not the fascist". Mme Le Pen is not her father, and Macron is loathed by two-thirds of the electorate on a scale unknown to the merely conventionally sleazy Chirac. Legions of leftie youth, meanwhile, reacted to last night's results in the traditional manner - doing their bit to "save democracy" by smashing up cellphone shops: That'll put a dent in some storefronts, but not in Mme Le Pen's vote. The difference between now and 2002 is the much more widespread sense that France itself is unravelling - twelve-year-old girls are kidnapped and gang-raped; Mohamed Amra and the assassination team that sprang him from prison are still at large; a few hours before polling stations opened, "gang" members shot up a wedding in Lorraine, killing one man and wounding a pregnant woman.. Scenes of French cities aflame will not do anything to diminish the rationale for the Rassemblement National. Au contraire... Still, how Round Two will go is a tough call because nothing like it has happened before. The Fifth Republic's voting system was created to ensure the first round eliminated all but Tweedleleft and Tweedleright. Instead, the high turnout has resulted in a record number of soi-disant "triangulaires" - constituencies in which a third-placed party (in this case Macron's) did well enough to qualify for the runoff. In 2017, there was just one "triangulaire"; in 2022, there were eight; on Sunday there will be over three hundred. In the coming days, there will be a lot of horse-trading between the "centre" and the "left" to reduce the variables. However, down at street level, there are enough lefties who'd rather vote for Le Pen than Macron, and a few centrists who'd rather vote for Le Pen than Mélenchon. Conversely, the system is supposed to make it difficult to win outright in the first round. Yet Mme Le Pen and some thirty-six of her colleagues did so. For purposes of comparison, at the dawn of the Macron era, in 2017, RN eventually won eight seats in the National Assembly. Last night they won five times as many on the first ballot. So something is approaching critical mass. On the current numbers, the "far right" would likely fall just a handful shy of a majority (289 seats) in the new parliament. Could the next seven days put them over the finish line? Certainly - especially if the most visible signs of the "united" resistance are the despised globalist tinpot and the anarchist youth. Nevertheless, a more cautious person might bet on Mme Le Pen coming up just a wee bit short - if only because all the forces of the French elites are determined to stop her. Steyn Similarly, I am worried about what swifty the Dems are going to pull THIS TIME in the US. |

I don't see consideration of control over immigration as being 'right' as such - it is just as 'left' being socialist for its own people and in a sense, for the world at large .... and who is to be considered first and foremost? Socialism for the world or socialism for one's own first?
Only the deep thinking theorists imagine that 'socialism for the world' is the answer.... we see them here all the time.... not a single viable thought in their mind about the actual impact and realities of what they claim to imagine they espouse..... and never an answer on HOW exactly this 'socialism' will create the best world.... With a world population approaching 8 billion................... and accelerating away ............ please explain? Now then - every country MUST regain and retain control over its immigration - starting with mass immigration - then immigration of any kind from certain regions and belief regions that do not fit ... finally the axe is starting to settle in the breast of every European country - about what they have done and allowed to be done to them... and how dangerous they have made their own world inside their national boundaries. Which of these will survive a collapse of economic factors worldwide, as is inevitable given the accelerating away world population and the increasing demands on resources? Which of these will survive the mass extinction events of disease outbreaks etc? Consider these in the context of current population numbers.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diseases_from_Space https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_epidemics_and_pandemics How many will NOT have their village gutters and roads lined with corpses of starved and/or diseased victims? How many will not be beset by maruauding gangs such as in The Last Valley? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Valley_(film) Is this what WE want? If you were to ask me, I would say abandon the cities to their fate.... but shut them off from us so they can't invade us with all their illegal guns etc and their criminal ways.... who will survive the city disasters? Those with the guns and the least morality.......... the criminals who will ride over or kill others to get their way... and Howard has rendered us all incapable of self-defence .... We must wall in the cities against the future disasters... student climbs on QANTAS plane for India - dies...... as in.... WTF??? Footnote:- Hey, Smith! messra!! Sacka! That's just me being crazy or racist or a victim, eh? Don't come crying to me when your world collapses in on you..... you've done your dash with me.... I only have time for the living... not you mentally dead already... |

Freedom Party triumphed in Austria’s election. Voters support Herbert Kickl’s goal of turning the country into ‘Fortress Austria’ after a decade of mass immigration.
In 2015 Austria was third behind Hungary and Sweden in terms of per capita asylum applications, and resentment has been steadily growing ever since. Immigration and insecurity were at the heart of the election. The Freedom Party claimed that the ruling centre-right People’s Party have ‘not secured our borders, but have degraded our police force to a kind of “welcoming committee” for illegal immigrants.’ An estimated 240,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in Austria since the People’s party won the 2020 election. This is despite the extensive publicity campaign launched by the government in 2022 to deter immigrants. Among the adverts broadcast on social media was one which read: ‘Illegal Migration: You will fail’. Another boasted ‘There’s no getting through’. Like a growing number of centrist governments in Europe, the People’s party were punished for their failure to fulfil their promise to police their borders. This issue has come to dominate European politics like no other, and parties ignore voters’ anger at their peril. Rishi Sunak paid the price for his inability to curb mass immigration (as will Keir Starmer in time) and Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz have seen their authority ebb away in the last two years because they sat on their hands while their borders were breached. Europe is now confronted with a fresh refugee and migrant crisis in the Middle East. This time around no European leader will copy Angela Merkel in issuing an open invitation but there will surely be a marked increase in the number of people arriving illegally either through the Balkans or across the Mediterranean. When Merkel opened up Europe in August 2015 she did so with a cry of ‘we can do this’. History has proved her hopelessly wrong. Europe will have to follow Austria’s example and turn itself into a fortress. If it doesn’t, the continent may in time go the same way as Lebanon. https://www.spectator.com.au/2024/09/what-will-happen-to-europe-if-it-cant-control-the-migrant-crisis/ |

~DIVERSITY STABBING OF THE DAY: Meanwhile, in the biggest and most unreported story of our time, life death goes on:
Un jeune homme poignardé à mort par un Algérien à la sortie d'une discothèque en Normandie Un jeune homme de 17 ans a été poignardé à mort, ce dimanche, alors qu'il quittait une boîte de nuit à Subles (Calvados), près de Bayeux. Selon les informations de Frontières, le suspect, Nasser Bekaddour, 24 ans, est de nationalité algérienne. Il a été interpellé et placé en garde à vue. The alleged perp is an Algerian migrant, Nasser Bekaddour; his victim is Kylian Binard, a seventeen-year-old Normandy boxing champ who was fatally stabbed in the back and throat. M Binard didn't realise that, for the likes of Mr Bekaddour, there are no Queensberry Rules on the streets of France. Subles is five kilometers from Bayeux, home of the Bayeux Tapestry, a near contemporaneous depiction of the Norman conquest of England in 1066. Is anyone working on a new Bayeux Tapestry depicting the ongoing conquest of France? There's no shortage of potential panels: Nasser Bekaddour is "Algerian", but last week it was a "Moroccan" migrant, who raped and murdered a nineteen-year-old. In Essen, Germany, a day of stabbings, fires and attempted vehicular homicide that left thirty injured was the work of a "Syrian" migrant. You get the feeling that, despite all the vibrant diversity of passports, there might be something that all these chappies have in common - if only someone in the evasive and dissembling media could summon up the courage to talk about it. Steyn And This Thursday, October 3, a fire ravaged part of the Romanesque church of Saint-Hilaire-le-Grand in Poitiers .This fire is unfortunately not an isolated case, as Boulevard Voltaire points out . For several months, places of worship in Poitiers have been regularly targeted. On June 9, the abbey church of Saint-Jean-de-Montierneuf was desecrated, while the church of Sainte-Thérèse suffered the start of a fire in May. Investigations into these cases have not yet been successful, but the criminal origin has been confirmed. The recurrence of these events worries the local population. Still according to Boulevard Voltaire , an Internet user asked X: " It's strange all the same, all these cases of fires in religious buildings and especially Christian ones ." https://www.frontieresmedia.fr/societe/eglise-incendiee-a-poitiers-ouverture-dune-enquete-pour-degradation-volontaire |

Protesters were arrested in the Dutch capital after taking part in a pro-Palestine protest as city authorities had banned all demonstrations, according to a local broadcaster. It comes after ugly scenes across Amsterdam saw violence targeting fans of an Israeli football club and footage showing Israeli football fans chanting anti-Arab slogans. Five people were taken to hospital and 62 were arrested on Thursday night after violence following a football match in Amsterdam between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax. The city’s mayor Femke Halsema said there were ‘scooter hit-and-runs’ involved in the attacks which have been condemned as anti-Semitic. She banned all demonstrations over the weekend following the string of violence on Thursday and Friday targeting Maccabi Tel Aviv fans. Ahead of the match, Maccabi fans ripped a Palestinian flag off a building in Amsterdam and chanted anti-Arab slogans while on their way to the stadium, the AP news agency reports. Maccabi fans also reportedly started fights. Isolated Maccabi fans were reportedly attacked on the street. Footage shows one man crouching on the ground and pleading ‘I’ll give you money, please go’ while another person standing over him shouts ‘free Palestine, you want to kill kids?’ Ajax fans were left angered when Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters disrupted a minute’s silence held in memory of the Valencia flood victims. On Sunday, police detained one man during a protest in Dam Square. Protesters were heard yelling slogans such as ‘free Palestine’ and ‘Amsterdam says no to genocide.’ Around 20 people were detained, the AP reports citing local broadcaster AT5. Amsterdam Municipality said on X that police had started arresting demonstrators who refused to leave the square. Protest organisers tried to secure an injunction to allow the demonstration. However, the judge upheld the ban issued by the authorities. All protests have now been banned until next Thursday, Sky News reports. Now an investigation has launched after reports that gangs of youth attacked Maccabi fans following alleged calls on social media to target Jewish people." |

Palestine Action, the group behind a litany of vandalistic stunts up and down the country, is running several "direct action training days" in a bid to bring Britons together to "bring down Israel". The training days run from today until December 8, and are based in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The group says the sessions hope to "bring together like-minded people for a day of talks, trainings and group discussions" in a bid to whip up support for its cause. As part of the training, activists hoping to get together and form protest groups are told to organise in groups of "three to five" trusted people, use burner phones, carry out reconnaissance undercover and pay with cash for sledgehammers. Palestine Action's training manual says: "Once you've got your cell together, come up with a name... This can be named after a Palestinian freedom fighter, a play on taking action against the war machine, or anything else that's appropriate." Then, would-be protesters are told to "head to our website to find a list of secondary and primary targets who enable and profit from the Israeli weapons industry in Britain". When scouting for locations, Palestine Action says activists should take care to stay under the radar. "If it's in the middle of town centre, then going for a walk with a friend or by yourself and pulling out a camera to look at the site doesn't look suspicious at all," the group says. "However, if you're going out in the sticks walking around an industrial estate with a selfie stick - you'll probably stand out a bit. "On going for sites in more rural areas, try asking to borrow someone's dog to take them on a walk (or walk your own dog if you've got one). "Dream up crazy ideas in your cell... Remember that your action is to disrupt, damage or destroy your target." The group advises protesters to use similar techniques to those seen at sites across the UK over the last 13 months: daubing buildings with paint, breaking into off-limits areas and smashing up targets with hammers. While its list of targets directs activists to Israel-linked defence and logistics firms in the UK, including Elbit Systems, Teledyne and Rafael/Pearson Engineering. But staff at said firms are furious - one contractor with Elbit told The Times: "Engineers who are going into work every day in sites around the country are being called baby killers and spat at by these activists. "It's disgraceful. Many of these people are just engineers trying to go to work, do their jobs and earn a living." While the Community Security Trust, a charity which provides safety to Britain's Jewish community, told the newspaper: "Palestine Action is an extremist organisation that uses violence and intimidation in pursuit of its political goals. "There has been a clear escalation in its methods and targeting over the past year, including violence and the use of weapons against people as well as destruction of property, and there is obviously a concern that this pattern will continue. "While it is welcome that individual activists have been arrested and prosecuted, there is an urgent need for government and police to address the growing threat that this organisation poses as a whole." GB News has approached Palestine Action for comment." |

Right Wing Gets Chance to Form Government in Austria Months After Winning Election
VIENNA (AP) – Austrian right-wing leader Herbert Kickl said Tuesday in his first comments after being tasked to form a new government that he aspires to “govern Austria honestly” as he prepared for talks on a potential coalition with conservatives who criticized him sharply in the past. Kickl's Freedom Party’s poll ratings have risen since the election as its rivals struggled and failed to find common ground. Surveys published in December put its support at between 35% and 37%. The Austrian People´s Party came in second with 26.3% and the center-left Social Democrats, post-war Austria’s other traditional big party, were third with 21.1%. The Freedom Party is part of a right-wing alliance in the European Parliament, Patriots for Europe, which includes the parties of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, La Pan's National Rally in France and of the Netherlands´ Geert Wilders, whose party dominates the Netherlands´ new government. |

J.D. Vance didn’t go far enough on Europe
Rod Liddle The only problem with the Vance speech is that it didn’t go far enough and contained insufficient examples of the EU’s warped concept of democracy. The truth is that populist parties of both the right and left have been persecuted by the EU for at least 25 years and continue to be. If they somehow hoist themselves into power, they are warned that their country will be fined, or suspended, if they dare to enact the policies on which they were elected. The EU has never been democratic. When Danish voters decided that the Maastricht treaty was a crock in a 1992 referendum, they were simply sent back to the polls and told to get it right. But the gloves really came off with the rise of the populist parties – often the same ones that are poised on the edge of victory in Europe today. The mainstream parties decided, continent-wide, that these people should be excluded from all power-sharing agreements, thus effectively disenfranchising millions of voters and taking no notice of the election results. ... Or sometimes the EU simply decides that the election is invalid and refuses to let the victorious party take power. It is remarkable that the populist parties, who would broadly agree with almost everything said by Vance last week, have come so close to power and even (in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Austria, Romania, Netherlands) actually achieved it, given the obstacles placed in their way. The EU’s methods never vary. First, ensure that the media – largely pro-EU – always refers to them as ‘far right’, or more recently ‘pro-Putin’. Second, make sure that they are never allowed into coalitions. If by some chance they do gain power, threaten to fine them and/or kick them out of the EU if they dare to put their policies into effect. And finally, if the worst comes to the worst, declare their elections null and void and put some centrist dad in their place. It was a good speech by Vance – but he only scratched the surface of the EU’s utter contempt for democracy. |

Because the European Union is a reconstituted Soviet Union. All the totalitarian instincts of Europe have reconstituted themselves in the EU under the French riding the Germans after they, the frogs, have been humiliated by the Krauts in at least three wars. With the collapse of the Soviet, they even copy the sclerosis of the Soviet Union. Vance has pointed out that much, very politely. In January last year the European Union revealed that it had dreamed up a ‘secret plan’ to sabotage the economy of one of its member states. Brussels was growing impatient with the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who had shown the temerity to dissent from EU orthodoxy on a number of issues. In this particular case it was Orban’s continued use of the veto to block a £50 billion aid package to Ukraine that had angered the bureaucrats and liberal politicians. According to the Financial Times, the EU’s strategy in response would involve targeting Hungary’s economy, weakening its currency and reducing investor confidence. Some £20 billion of funding for Hungary was put on hold. You look at that and kind of marvel on two counts – first that the institution would try to bankrupt one of its own member states simply because its democratically elected leader dissented from Brussels’ diktat. But you marvel, too, that the EU leaders gathered for the 61st annual Munich SecurityConference had the sheer effrontery to appear aghast at the lecture they were given by the US Vice-President J.D. Vance on this very stuff (their elitist, authoritarian refusal to let democracy take its course), as if pretending it didn’t happen. They should have been nodding their heads and saying: ‘Yeah, OK, we do do all of that, sure.’ The only problem with the Vance speech is that it didn’t go far enough and contained insufficient examples of the EU’s warped concept of democracy ... When the Austrian People’s party broke the mould at the turn of the century by entering a power-sharing agreement with the right-wing Freedom Party (FPO), led by Jörg Haider, the EU was quick to warn the Austrians that their country could be kicked out of the EU if it didn’t watch it. Last year the FPO won the general election but was this time excluded from any power-sharing coalition. The party wants to add a clause that Austria must protect itself against the EU, the WHO and the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: a stipulation that probably ensures it’ll never be allowed to govern, no matter how many Austrians vote for it. Then there’s Poland, which was relentlessly persecuted by the EU when governed by the Law and Justice party (PiS). The EU levied fines of more than £300 million because the country’s freely elected government had dared to enact judicial reform (in an attempt to prise former Communist party placemen from the courts). Poland’s current president, Andrzej Duda – a PiS man until he followed the precedent that Polish presidents shouldn’t be members of any party and resigned from it – later said: ‘They showed me clearly at that moment, “We do not like the fact that you govern Poland. We do not like that people with conservative views – who do not agree with what we propose, who have a different view on many important issues – govern Poland.”’ |

Post Ukraine War Europe is going to be very interesting. It marked the first time, since end of world war 2, that US influence in Europe is waning. As most of the Europe is heading into elections soon, I foresee several general directions.
One: Europe moves in the RIGHT direction with election of far right leaders. Those leaders have long expressed their desire to work with Russian, and to further weakening EU. In which case, Europe will achieve its new prosperity and embarking on new era of manufacturing backed by cheap energy from Russia. With improvement of those ties, the relevance of NATO will fade. And perhaps by then, Russian will able to re claim back influence over many Eastern European / formal Warsaw pack state. Two: Europe moves in the LEFT direction due to people fear of erosion of freedom and democracy. In which case, Europe will need to explore new markets, engage in renewable revolution to both counter Russian influence on their own, and also the USA. NATO will be stronger, however, it would be probably NATO minus USA. They also be engaging more with bilateral trade with BRICS countries like China and India. Three: Europe moves in Random directions. Probably the most likely scenario. In which case, the right wing countries will move in closer ties with Russia. And the rest will be a combination of Chinese and US influence. EU will likely be irrelevant and break up. In any of these circumstance, Australia need to be agile. As the world moves from decades of US dominant world order to a more multipolar world. We need to tread carefully, avoid getting involved in costly / needless foreign wars, concentrating on our own development and prosperity. |

The cleansing must begin.... it is long overdue. Standards have fallen through the floor, division nearing disintegration rules the nation, there are no moral values among the psychopaths running the show, Australian people are living far worse than they were since the beginning of industrialisation, all hope is gone for a viable future for the many, there is no government - no plan - to lead the country out of darkness, the social glue has rotted, Australians have been sold out to the mythical 'global economy', preference for the Chosen Ones persists and grows daily, tyranny and despotism by self-appointed elites is growing by the day, real rights are vanishing like a dream, and everything is falling into ruin.
We're all rooned.... On top of that, there is a definite growth of a New Underworld - with countless immigrants from countries without our laws and tax obligations finding every way they can to not pay taxes etc, and make money in a jobs and incomes desert that is growing drier by the day. No wonder certain groups go into drugs and stuff - bootlegging - and engage in gang wars etc. Stop The Rot!! |

John Smith, I can agree, that democracies SHOULD..... 1/ operate in an environment, of the functional operation of 'the rule of law', and 2/ on the basis that criminals would be imprisoned [i.e. are removed from the society, because, their behaviour would 'poison', and destroy egalitarian = = believing in or based on the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities. John Smith, On the basis of your statement..... 'All democracies run on the basis that criminals go to jail.' QUESTION; In this age, can you point to a valid, functioning democracy [anywhere in this world], where the sovereign citizens are free to elect stewards, and where those elected stewards then make laws, to enable them [the stewards] to govern and manage the nation honestly, and for the sole benefit of the >> the sovereign citizens << ? sovereignty = = supreme power or authority. Because i cannot. I cannot see a valid, functioning democracy, anywhere in this world today. Please prove me wrong/mistaken. . "The problems we face today exist because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living." - ? A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage. - Alexander Fraser Tytler (1747-1813) |

Well - I told you so.... years ago - that the nations of the West, under the dark heel of social science madness and oppression - would find their answer in an extreme government of either left or right - I told you also that you should be starting to fix all that NOW - and that was years ago...
I'm weary of being a prophet with no profit from it.... if I had a spot with Labor or Liberals etc saying the same things to straighten out their warped thinking - I'd be on $300k a year or something. ... as things stand - they all start moving on my infrastructure plans - the GAIAs* - without giving me one cent in royalties... now if I was Black .... Now then - that cross-continental railway to join the 'Ardani' coal to the iron ore out West - New City rising with all the modern tech and industrial methods, each home as near independent of power etc as possible with water tanks and solar alongside a central power source .... take back the farm from all the Offshore tax haven parasites sucking billions out of OUR resources and giving Pharkawl™ back ... install my GAIA projects one at a time on the back of a single national superannuation fund loaning out money to governments at a fair rate of interest and without all the multiple parasites drawing the cash out of it all for management fees etc.... A good start being the return of Howard's $232 Bn stolen money for his 'future fund' - so that no matter what disaster those arseholes in Cambra put this nation to - their retirement money will be sacred... how can any of you sleep while your beds are burning over that one? Straight over your heads..... take $232 Bn from the sale of Telstra - put it in a fund to guarantee your political parasite mates incomes for life and beyond (their spouse get 50% I think for life - FFS - I was in the wrong business - I thought you got the rewards for loyalty and hard work etc) ... and not a soul thinks this is the crime of the century... if it happened in El Slavador you'd be wanting the US to invade to set it right! Open up the former Inland Sea to the ocean through South Australia and flood the Aboriginal owners out of never walking across it anyway... FFS... get a life you stupid government bodies - who arst ye to shut off OUR National parks? Stick it up yer jumpers before we do!! All those huge catchments on the inland slopes of the Great Dividing Range to capture all that floodwater ... look at bloody Queersland right now - flood to be followed by drought and dryness. GAIA = Great Australian Infrastructure Advance (numbered I, II, II, IV and so forth... Make Australia Great Again instead of making Australia gag again)... Are you with me, lads? I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips!! |

The Bamberg district court in Bavaria sentenced Deutschland-Kurier editor David Bendels this week to seven months in prison on probation and a fine of nearly sixty per cent of his annual income, or 210 ‘daily rates’, for posting an image on social media of Interior Minister Nancy Faeser holding an altered sign. The common meme tactic of changing the words on signs held by politicians for satirical purposes was used to make Faeser’s sign read: “I hate freedom of speech”. Bendels was initially convicted in November, and the ruling was confirmed on Monday, finding that he had committed “defamation directed against people in political life,” Die Welt reported on Tuesday. According to Bendels, it is the first time in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany that a journalist has been threatened with prison for breaching the statute. |

Denmark and eight other countries blasted the European Court of Human Rights for imposing limits on deporting criminal migrants on Sunday.
Denmark, which is set to take over the presidency of the European Union in July, published a letter demanding more leeway to expel immigrants who commit crimes. Leaders of Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, and Poland signed the letter with Denmark. "Many have come here via legal pathways. They have learned our languages, believe in democracy, contribute to our societies and have decided to integrate themselves into our culture. Others have come and chosen not to integrate, isolating themselves in parallel societies and distancing themselves from our fundamental values of equality, democracy and freedom," the letter read. "In particular, some have not contributed positively to the societies welcoming them and have chosen to commit crimes." "It is beyond our comprehension how some people can come to our countries and get a share in our freedom and our vast range of opportunities, and, indeed, decide to commit crimes," the letter continues. The letter goes on to argue that the court's interpretation of the European Convention on Human Rights has "limited our ability to make political decisions in our own democracies," citing examples where the court has blocked the deportation of illegal immigrants. Denmark and the signatories request that the court make more room for European countries to deport illegal immigrants who commit violent or drug-related crimes, as well as allow for European governments to track illegal immigrants more closely. "We need to be able to take effective steps to counter hostile states that are trying to use our values and rights against us. For example, by instrumentalizing migrants at our borders," the letter adds. |
