So a survey of 1,500 people out of a voting age base of 21,500,000 tells us that a majority is of Australians support something; I dare to differ.

Sir Eoin O Fada is a professional, practiced, habitual liar. I can't prove he is paid to lie because his work appears worthless, not even qualifying for useful idiot class.

"voting age base of 21,500,000" is so evidently and starkly wrong it cannot be anything but a deliberate lie.

Q+A has partnered with YouGov — a global research, data and analytics group — to capture what Australians think on key areas of policy and debate.

The latest survey, conducted online on May 24-30, was weighted to reflect demographics and past voting patterns for a politically representative sample.

Respondents chose from "blind" statements not attributed to parties or politicians to limit partisanship in the results.

No link to the actual survey and how exactly the 1500 online respondents were selected and weighted. If it iwas from a pool of ABC or Q&A audiences, then it is edvidently it is a load of bollocks.
This looks looks like an ABC cross promo puff piece for Q& A that nobody discerning watches because it is as tendentious and parties as the rest of the ABC news and current affairs agit-prop.

But I do,Brian, and having been involved with the ABC and their methods I understand only to well.
Opinion polls often get it so wrong as to be hilarious.

I well remember a filmed feature that they did and I instructed the participants to never answer yes to any questions but to insist on giving an answer, result it never went to air as the answers couldn’t be twisted to suit the agenda.

In other Your ABC news:

Mermaiding brings happiness and connection for this new tribe of swimmers in Newcastle

The Newcastle Merfolk group is home to a range of enthusiasts from a street circus performer with a degree in environmental science to a teenage boy whose experience in a tail has given him the confidence to swim beyond the breakers.

The practice enchanted the Newcastle Merfolk pod leader Charmaine Lowe, also known as MerSharma, since she first tried on her sister's monofin in 2020.

Maid- controversial in these woke times. So it's now 'merfolk".  These woke bastards are are having us on, shurely.

All Australian Jews who served in IDF and operated war machines, weapons, and munitions against Palestinians should be arrested and charged with mass murder and genocide on their return to Australia.

I did the statistical programming for a public opinion poll run as part of the ANU for five years. I used to handle terabytes of data from thousands of respondents contacted through the electoral rolls and via mail.  We did not "weigh" our results, we did not use paid various respondents, they did it all out of the goodness of their hearts.  I understand more than most people how to "fix" results and why academics do things that they do.  So, please, don't treat me as a fool, Eugene.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   ::) ::)

In Brian's defence, he did say "Australians back war crimes probe...". Not "the majority of all Australians back war crimes probe". Looking at the pie chart, the question seems reasonable about the idea of arresting Hamas leader and/or the Israeli PM if there was enough evidence of war crimes. A sample of 1500 voters gives a small idea of which way Australians might lean on those issues.

Which war crimes probe was that?  Bit late to condemn Hamas .... they're guilty as sin and not only of war crimes - these are CIVIL crimes since there was no war going on so there is zero excuse of operational expediency or anything else .... that's even worse.  As for the Israeli PM - you want to put a man on trial for defending his nation and people?  Good luck ......

At what point does a 'probe' become a witch trial?  Do any of you understand English?

Sounds like a storm in a teacup to me.....

He did not imply the majority. Brian can rest upon the fact that he typed in "Australians back war crime probe" in the subject heading. You know, if 25% of the respondents said that they backed a war time probe, the subject heading would still be valid.

That said, it is a sample of 1500+ respondents that we are relying upon for an idea of how the Australian community feel. If it was 10,000 respondents taken from people of all walks of life, of all age groups, city regional and rural, we would have a much higher degree of confidence about the accuracy.

If the poll conducted was at some university by some 1500 students in Sydney, yeah, I would be very skeptical to the results. It would be considered a waste of a poll.
