Title: Weightloss Challenge II Post by UnSubRocky on May 30th, 2024 at 1:00pm
Years ago, I wrote a post about how I was going to restart a weight loss goal of getting down to 85kg as my ideal weight. I had a few hecklers go around give me hell for not being serious. But, I am very serious now.
I am at 107kg. I aim to lose 10kg in the next month, given that I have a lot of reason to be at a healthier weight range. A photograph of me last night had me motivated to restart the weight loss attempt. I want to be 20kg lighter in 3 months. And 10 of those kilos I should be able to lose in a month. |

You started 10+ years ago and have not even lost 1 kg a year.
F**king ridiculous. You are deluding yourself. |

And there we have it. My first heckler on this topic.

Actually, 10 years ago, I was 130kg. I dropped down 35kg in 7 months. Then I maintained that weight until the next year. I cannot find the topic I started, either through lack of looking or because the topic is deleted. I am up 12kg since October, 2015. I am down 5kg since January this year. |

Down 2kg since last month. Down 3kg if I was not wearing my shoes and heavy clothing when I weighed myself. I don't look much skinnier than I did a month ago. But I do feel stronger.
Someone was right. Even if I did lose a lot of weight, I have plenty of excess skin to contend. |

3 kg weight loss is a healthy rate of weight loss over a period of 4 weeks.

I have only been to a fast food restaurant once in the last 4 weeks. It was an emergency feed after work, as I only had 2 bananas and a big glass of water before I went to work for the night. Other than the ice tea I was drinking during my shift, I was doing okay for the night. But I could not wait to get home and prepare something to eat. I have gone for a walk every night with my weighted backpack (36kg). Last night, there was a blackout, so I stayed home and read by candle light -- bad for the eyes. I will go for a walk tonight to try and make sure I look good for the camera tomorrow afternoon/night. |

I weighed myself twice. 102kg. The weight is coming off. Probably 20kg to go before December. My doctor told me to try and bring my cholesterol levels down, and my glucose levels to be under 7. Blood test to be done before Christmas.

I got on the scales just before. The scales read 100kg. However, when I took the weight measure in May, it said 107kg whilst I was wearing just my underwear. Today, I weighed myself fully clothed. That means that I have broken the 100kg psychological barrier. I have lost 8kg in the last 9 weeks. So, that is a safe level of weight loss. |

When will Weightloss Challenge III start?
This will obviously start after Weightloss Challenge II fails. Does USR have a forecast? USR has a record of success in failing to succeed. |

Losing 8kg in the last (correction) 7 weeks is quite a decent attempt.

So far, in the last month, I have only had one meal from KFC and one meal from Red Rooster. On both occasions, I managed to later burn off the fat consumption via my resistance training walks. My main problem has been my drinking. In the last 3 months, I have gone from drinking once or twice a week to once or twice a fortnight (usually once every fortnightly, after I do my grocery shopping). All things considered, I feel that I am doing pretty well and have gotten control of my glucose levels. I am starting to feel much strong than I have ever before. |

97kg. I lost a kilo in 2 weeks. I must have reached that plateau in my weight loss. Or I am gaining muscle.

Title: Re: Weightloss Challenge II Post by UnSubRocky on Jun 16th, 2026 at 11:14pm
From 97kg in August 2024 to 109kg in June 2026. I will have to restart another weight loss attempt and get some muscle building. I might start by getting myself a new bike.

Weight really means nothing as a number i am 98Kg my BMI says i am overweight skinfold measurements have me less than 10% bodyfat which is lean i have a 6 pack. Skinfold measurements determine bodyfat levels in % when combined with weight you can calculate how much fat vs lean bodyweight you have then have a target on how much weight you can lose. If the goal is to lose bodyfat while gaining muscle weight can stay fairly static while skinfold totals reduce. Skinfold measurements give a much better indication of body composition compared to scales. |

Weight loss (bodyfat) is never sustainable if you have poor nutritional habits you have to see this as a lifestyle change. If you want to build muscles you have do do weights/resistance training it's cheaper to buy your own gym equipment than join a gym. A bike will build legs and cardio fitness it can't do anything more than that. I have a GT mountain bike with dual suspension. You have to look at what you're eating you don't have to go hungry to lose bodyfat while building muscle. Don't eat chips or fries the way things are cooked is also very important never eat anything deep fried in oil if trying to lose weight. Potato is OK if steamed boiled baked or microwaved. Buy lean meats (chicken breast lamb beef white pork meat) trim all the fat off or start eating more seafood with protein. All fruit is OK vegetables are also good if cooked without oil/butter. Cut out all junk food along with alcohol. Write down what you eat everyday post it here if you want help ask yourself before you buy or eat something what nutritional value does this have. Sustainable weight loss (bodyfat) really points to lifestyle change with fatter people. Back when i was younger people weren't as fat as they are today because they mainly ate home cooked meals Maccas and KFC weren't around like today. There was a lot less pre packed processed rubbish. 1960s.jpg (130 KB | 8

My muscles have atrophied over the last 12 months. Last year, I could walk around the neighbourhood wearing a 35kg weighted backpack and could practically jog for a kilometre. Now, I have trouble getting out of the chair. According to the machine at Priceline Pharmacy, I have 40% body fat. My blood pressure is good, though. |

Title: Re: Weightloss Challenge II Post by Baronvonrort on Jun 22nd, 2026 at 12:39am
Are you 40% bodyfat at 109kg?
You can't really go below 5-6% bodyfat. If you lose 30% bodyfat getting down to 10% bodyfat at current muscle mass you would be around 76.5Kg. It would take 6-12 months before you see significant bodyfat loss if you exercise hard then you could end up around 80Kg at 10% fat. Blood pressure readings can vary depending on mood if stressed they could be higher if relaxed they will be lower. Marla would have really low blood pressure waking up after hard bong session then it would spike up if you mentioned trump. If it's say 130/90 then 130 is pressure during heartbeat and 90 is remaining pressure after heartbeat. What is your resting heart rate in beats per minute? |

According to my doctor last week, she said that I was 173cm tall. That is kind of a wild measurement, given that I have been measured as tall as 177cm, and have settled for a height of 176cm.
I don't know what my actual body fat is. I have the dad bod of someone who is overweight at a minimum. According to height and weight charts, I won't be in the overweight category until I get my weight down to 90kg. I would aim for getting down to 95kg and then slowly lose the weight down to not much less than 90kg. 76kg is ridiculously too low for my standards. I am not running a marathon anytime soon. |

The doctor gave me my blood test results today. She said that my blood sugar was too high. But given that I was not fasting when I had the blood test, it is no surprise that it was high.
The doctor has put me on a different medication to control my diabetes. And given that I was a regular drinker for the past 2 years, it is probably time to skip the alcohol for a long time until I have my blood glucose managed to be around 5, instead of 7. I can imagine in 2 weeks time, I will be desperate for a drink. And then another 2 weeks, I will be back to having that feeling of euphoria as my body adjusts to no alcohol for a month. |

Weightloss Challenge II failed by around October when I started drinking heavily again. I did not really start the second challenge at all. I did do some modest exercise and had a relatively decent diet. But I was not as committed to losing weight as I did back in 2014. My doctor got the results of my hba1c -- I think that is what it is called. She said that my range was in the 10.2 area. I told my doctor that I had breakfast that morning before the blood test. I was later told, by a diabetes dietary professional that even if I had been fasting that morning in preparation for the test, the blood test result would not be very different. The hba1c results show the average glucose levels over a period of 2 to 3 months. Weightloss Challenge III can be the continuation of II (with this month being the beginning of trying to get better). Regular walks around the neighbourhood, cutting out the alcohol, and having a decent diet should be the basics of regulating my health. My doctor wants me to lose 10kg in 3 months. And she wants my next blood test to be a lot more favourable. |
