Title: Down Under China Sea
Post by chimera on May 4th, 2024 at 3:01pm
'China has publicised what it claims is an unwritten agreement with the Philippines over access to South China Sea islands. A statement from the Chinese Embassy in Manila said the "temporary special arrangement" agreed to during a visit to Beijing by former president Rodrigo Duterte allowed small scale fishing around the islands'.

China's department of Imperial Victory has boasted of the implied hint that Darwin port of the Peoples' Army of Australia is now Chinese. 'The Darwin-Hobart fishing village is a workers' colony and convict camp of the Revolution'.

My God!  The unwritten agreement!!!!!!!

Not worth the paper it's written on .......................

Democracy of the people/Australianism direct is a mental disease, like Islam.

Ah an unwritten agreement.  So "small scale fishing" is undefined.  ::)

No. The small-scale whiting (Sillago parvisquamis), is very similar in body shape and colour to other species in the genus Sillago. The species is distributed through parts of the west Pacific Ocean including Japan, Taiwan, Korea and India, inhabiting the tidal flats of major estuaries.

“That’s what I remember. If it were a gentleman’s agreement, it would always have been an agreement to keep the peace in the South China Sea,” Duterte said. China uses high-pressure water to blast Philippine gentlemen. It knocks the scales off fish.

There is a colloquialism which goes.......
A verbal [unwritten] agreement isn't worth the paper its written on.

And sometimes even written agreements [treaties] are not worth the paper they are written on.

Now have a re-read. "Small scale fishing". It does not say it is whiting. Merely that the scale of the fishing is small. ::)

"Success will depend on small-scale fisheries. Small operations tend to deliver both food and income directly to the people who need them most, and locals have a strong incentive to make their practices sustainable."

"China is one of the most important marine fishery countries, yet little is known about its small-scale fisheries (SSFs). "

'On July 12, 2016, the arbitral tribunal adjudicating the Philippines’ case against China in the South China Sea ruled overwhelmingly in favor of the Philippines'.
The decision is on a nice piece of paper with some blue colour and a logo and black lines and stuff.

It's fishing for small scale fish. There's a small scale taipan and so there's small scale snake-hunting.

Perhaps you can find a reference for that. ;)

The ABC doesn't support your contention.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-04/china-publicises-south-china-sea-agreement-with-philippines/103804180

"Restrictions in Philippine territorial waters and the open seas, along with threats from large-scale fishing operations, are the biggest issues facing subsistence fishermen in this archipelagic country of 7,100 islands, according to an organization representing them."

However your universal support for China is noted. ;)

There are two species of lizard named small-scaled desert lizard: Meroles micropholidotus, Mesalina microlepis. They are suited to small scale zoos.   An allegedly 21-foot saltwater crocodile captured alive in the Philippines could be the biggest known croc. They are agreeable to small scale Chinese gentlemen.

Crocodiles have large scales. They are NOT in Duterte's agreement.
