Title: Can anyone name the judge who set her killer free? Post by Daves2017 on Apr 23rd, 2024 at 6:16pm
Just weeks before Molly Ticehurst was found dead in a NSW home, the man accused of her murder was released on bail over a series of allegations of sexual assault against her.

There are calls for the magistrate to be sacked.
This needs to happen more often. Criminals need to be punished for their crimes Gaol time, real gaol time. Two blankets Two sets of clothes No shoes No entertainment other than a copy of the bible No exercise, stay in their cells. One meal a day, and only enough to survive on, not thrive on. Water as the only drink No heating or cooling Have the same consideration for them as they have for their victims. And reintroduce the death penalty for serious crimes. 3 strikes and it's life in prison With adult time for adult crime regardless of age or race. |

Too right.
What crimes had the man committed before this? |

Perhaps you could look at Orange Court records for the dates and names in this article. |

Yeah - he's got the look....
How long have I been calling for a royal commission into the judiciary and into jurisprudence? The faults cut so many ways it is beyond funny... I used to live in a street named Ticehurst Close - lots of family ties with Orange. |

Often a judge will hold a trial with a verdict. He then locks up a person in jail. It's a primitive idea but an improvement on witch hunts based on looks.

What rule has the judge broken?

Daves, check out the Sydney Morning Herald.
Not a Judge's decision - was made by the Court Registrar. An interim order. A massive fail yet again. Seems there's always talk of change but it never eventuates. I understand Chris Minns has it on his agenda........we can all live in hope I guess. |

“Daniel Billings was charged with stalking, rape and animal cruelty. Police said he’d threatened his ex-partner. There was no magistrate, so a registrar gave him bail.”
“ smh What was the registrar name? |

I will read it again, obviously I’ve missed it and thank you for sharing the link.
Obviously I believe the registrar should be sacked and perhaps facing civil chargers for the decision to free him from prison and therefore allow him to kill. Until such time that our judicial system is held accountable for their mistakes these tragic events will continue and snowball. I wonder what party would be brave enough to campaign at the next election on judicial reform? They would have my vote! |

A Registrar should have no business making such a decision in cases like this. It should have been held over until a Magistrate was available.

Very difficult to find a name responsible.
It’s that well covered up by the government I assume it must be someone of Islamic faith? This is the only name I can find so far - Executive Director and Principal Registrar. Chris D'Aeth. |

'Chiovetti joined a panel of five “change instigators” in the legal profession who encouraged NSW lawyers to get over their fear of change and embrace the productivity and cost efficiencies that agile work technologies could offer.
The panel included .. Chris D’Aeth, Executive Director and Principal Registrar at the Supreme Court of NSW, .Chris D’Aeth said he believed even the most traditional legal establishments – the courts – could adapt and benefit from agile technologies'. Magistrates are so yesterday, the pc does it quicker. |

He wasn't actually a murderer or even charged as one. He was accused of rape with no trial.

What do you want their name for? So you can send them a stern letter?
Or hey, better ... so every loony with a vigilante complex can send them death threats and stalk them and stuff? Why do you want to know their name? Do you think persecuting this person will somehow undo this miscarriage of justice? |

It would appear the name has been redacted since I read the article a couple of days ago. I can see good reason if there is even a whiff of vigilante reaction.
Let it go Daves. I agree with your wish for the overhaul of bail law, but concentrate on that. Knowing this person's name will not be of assistance. |

I think we all see a good reason why the creep shouldn't have been given bail - Community expectations Problem is, we are far too divided on what "community expectations" should be Rule of Law is now so distorted, none of us can agree on what it should be anymore, or how it should be applied The Judge, male or female, had the power to deny bail for the creep, so why didn't he/she deny it? That's the question It probably boils down to a lack of understanding of how younger generations mull things over in their minds - it's never been ingrained in the heads that rule of law exists, they got away with too much at home, and ended up making their own laws |

In an analysis: 'we match 2,897 defendants placed on 24-month ADVOs to 10,820 defendants placed on 12-month ADVOs between January 2016 and April 2018 in NSW.'
There are 700-900 sexual assaults in NSW /year. Are you saying they all go to jail ? Does a registrar/ magistrate have the power of reading the future 100%? Do you? |
