The supreme Court has confirmed that it was an insurrection, old boy ;) The reason no one has been charged with "insurrection" is that it's a very hard charge to prove. Rather than charge the insurrectionists with insurrection - and risk having them be found not guilty, and getting away with their crimes - prosecutors charged them for the other crimes they committed which are much easier to prove in a court of law. And thankfully, it's a legal tactic that worked brilliantly :) |

There are signs he has plans to sell this information or use it as blackmail, revenge or just plain bragging, which Richard Pratt's testimony shows. We only found this out because Pratt's friendly with Australian government sources. We haven't heard about information sold to the Russians, Chinese or Saudis, all of whom have memberships or are connected to members of Mar a Lago. We know Jared Kushner was entrusted with $86 billion in Saudi government investment funds, so there are clear money trails, arrangements and connections, so easily exploited. While Trump's a clown and a clutz, I wouldn't underestimate the people around him. His valet Walt Nauta, for example, was entrusted with some of the US's biggest security secrets, which he could freely access, copy and sell to anyone who approached him. NARA know of further missing White House documents, and Trump has evaded the question of whether we he's handed everything back. He's clearly forgotten how many documents he flushed down the Oval Office toilet, so NARA are unlikely to ever know what records are still out there in circulation. During Trump's time in office, NARA employed two well-trained researchers who's job it was to sticky tape papers Trump had read back together, so as to protect the documents and uphold the presidential records act.. Whenever he was given something to read, Trump would tear it up when he was done. They could never get him to break this habit. Still, if you think a person with such a character should be entrusted to run the US again, no worries. You must have a completely different measure of character, but do you know? I tend to have a more "overall" conceptualisation process. Every candidate has issues and there are plenty of issues with both in this case. I tend to see things in more of a historical context. My general feel is the USA has seen it's Judicial branch and education systems become compromised and now fully embroiled in politicisation. That signals to me a loss of judicial and administrative impartiality. I combine that knowledge with a generally agreed consensus that the USA has shifted further to the left than is perhaps ideal. I'm very much a centrist (Hitler bad, Mussolini bad) and feel there needs to be a tilt back the other way to find a better balance. I combine that with the knowledge Biden is definitely no more than an (albeit unfortunately) mentally compromised puppet and deem that 4 years of Trump, knowing it will only be four years, is most likely the best possible outcome achievable for the US. The rest is irrelevant pig feed for the juvenile Dunning/Kruger sufferers. |

I think people forget how hard it is for a USA "President" to achieve all their goals in a 4 year term. Biden can't even get Ukraine dollars through. There's 2 houses for a reason and a whole armada of politicised admin and justice dept hoops acting as "co-morbid" factors. Any shift back from the far left would actually probably take all the things he rattles home about (that people keep disregarding, half the USA population along with apparently the majority on this site and I'd hazard similar numbers around the globe are actually demanding). It has got to the point where even apparently reasonably intelligent protagonists on sites like this, have no actual clue regarding the major narrative, presented by media as the vast majority, which is in fact completely untrue. Trump won't get half the poo he wants done , actually done. It does however require that level of aim to achieve the eventual half. It fits exactly with the see-saw narrative; the further left the see-saw goes, the more extreme right required to counter balance. There needs to be a counter balance effort now before it is too extreme and all hell does actually break lose in efforts to rebalance. I would add that vast numbers, perhaps even the majority of the world populace seem to agree the world needs a rebalance. That is a reality not even well educated professionals or media seem to be able to actually grasp. PS: I've got to get this enter key fixed :-/

The most common response around the world now from even "western" citizens and probably the majority of country leadership; when asked if they think the USA is still the example of society we all should aspire to mimic is: bugger NO. That wasn't the case even just a couple of decades ago. It has lost it's role as a beacon to the world and even the educated "elites" have failed to grasp the true ramifications of that around the globe. From Africa ditching the "West" to driving Russia and China closer, to BRICS, to India disregarding Russian oil embargoes and actually helping Russia, to the too radically "Left" aligned EU policies and Brexit, which every "enlightened" expert thought impossible and predicted wouldn't happen etc, etc,etc. We're going through a period of poor leadership/advice mixed with an insane level of Dunning/Kruger sufferers in the roles. The possible reasons for that is a whole other discussion but history has these periods. It's vital to find more central balance and initially it will require a more than perfect equally too far push to the right, to counter what has tilted too far left. Leaving it longer will only guarantee a breaking point.

Donald Trump’s lawyers could try to delay the process further after the former president was convicted on 34 felonies on Thursday. Under New York law, any appeal of the verdict comes after sentencing. Trump’s sentence date is currently scheduled for July 11. As a defendant, Trump then has 30 days to file a notice of appeal. Once that notice is filed Trump’s legal team would typically have six months to complete procedural requirements like filing their appellate argument as well as filing other relevant documents like the trial transcripts. Once the appeal is fully submitted, attorneys for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office would likely be given approximately 30 days to file a response. Trump’s legal team will have one more opportunity to submit a brief in response to the prosecution’s filing soon after that. A five-judge panel for the Appellate Division First Department will then hear oral arguments from both sides and issue a written decision which could take months. The panel is not subject to a deadline. If the lower appeals court ultimately rejects Trump’s appeal and upholds the jury’s verdict, Trump can take it to the Court of Appeals, New York’s highest court. But, fascinating as these points were, Mr Tomasky quickly wearied of them, and summed up his position as: He's our guy and we're sticking with him. Even if his trousers are round his ankles. Likewise, he's our guy and we're sticking with him even if he's been clinically dead for three years. Unless it starts to look as if the scale of what's necessary to get him across the finish line is beyond even our formidable capabilities... At which point, as handmaidens to Democrat power, we'll do what's necessary. The scandal is not that Joe Biden was in "cognitive decline" during his 2020 campaign. The scandal is not that Jill Biden is Lady Macbeth - you can't blame anyone for preferring to do multiple Vogue covers if the alternative is sitting in a Delaware basement watching Matlock reruns and spoonfeeding the drooler his tapioca. The scandal is not that the Permanent State plucked Lunchbucket Joe to be the most biddable Potemkin president for their agenda: the mysterious elevation of hitherto unknowns to be stooge frontmen (Rishi Rich, Dinky Macron) is now a standard feature of our post-democratic age. So what does that leave? The fourth estate's industrial-scale collusion in a hoax on their audiences not one of them could ever have believed - that "this version of Biden ...is the best Biden ever". Maybe the scandal is why Scarborough, Woodward et al are still in paid employment. As I said, my conscience is clear - and it's nothing to do with his age: In March 2021, I observed to Tucker (in a show since vaporised by Fox) that the Queen was a generation older than Biden and had just hosted a round-table with public-health officials from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales carrying it off "like Bret Baier in a tiara". Yet now we are expected to believe, per Bob Woodward and Michael Tomasky, that, after perpetrating a four-year fraud on the American people, the US media are finally ready to believe their lying eyes. |
