I love the smell of burnt bushfire smoke.
Not intensely like wildfire. But some backburning has allowed the 'Aussie Incense' to waft my way and it smells very much 'Australian' in its aroma. (The Blue Mountains are named so from the vapour of the Eucalyptus forests which are considered 'sedative' that rise above to give the blue hue in the air.) Ahhhhh. :) (No wonder the Aborigines did sfa - too sedated. :D) |

They just smoked koala weed. Why didn't they hitch up their bullocks and draught horses to the combine harvester and truck the corn and potatoes to the railway?

Too bloody hot in Australia to do much, especially build many stone blocks to the sky in a pyramid just to bury one person who thought they were going to live forever up in the vacuum of space and turn into a star like the Sun.
Guess the Boongs new better. They were more down to earth and buried their kind in the dirt to re-incarnate as Yams. |

'Egyptian flooding left behind silt, the fertile black soil, upon which crops such as wheat and barley were planted. Ancient Egyptians also grew beans, lentils, root vegetables, lettuce, and parsley. Farmers also grew fruits such as figs, apples, olives, and grapes'. Cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, camels, horses.. Jewish slaves. Cypriot copper. Boomerangs.

Title: Re: Australians identify with Post by AusGeoff on Mar 11th, 2024 at 8:50am Living in the sticks, my nose is highly attuned to the smell of bushfire smoke—even from 100km distant. First thing I do in the morning is have a piss and then stick the old schnoz out the back door. Particularly when it's gonna be 39 bloody degrees for three days. |

'However, because the La Habra HeightsFire Department has identified eucalyptus trees as a fire hazard, no permit is required to voluntarily remove these trees from your Heights property'.
https://www.lhhcity.org/DocumentCenter/View/1396/Eucalyptus--the-gasoline-tree (click on + ) Yanks call them gasoline tree. The gas can explode in bush fires. |

Well it was a desert out there - no wonder they needed to innovate Farming. Just a shame they felt superior to everyone else about it, not mentioning their land was the worst in the world for providing food. Aborigines didn't 'need' to farm like Egyptians and Civilisation. They didn't need to feed 'excessive' populations because of the need to create 'Militaries' to steal the food and slaughter thousands in the process. Aborigines didn't need to be 'desperate' like Civilisation in the Middle-East. They just needed someone else to talk to. Pretty lonely in their solitary confinement. Maybe they just needed to build bigger canoes? |
