Has this run its race, and should it be moved into irrelevance

Why?  Coronavirus is no longer a topical issue.  There is zero commentary anywhere in the media about it, that Section is pointless now.

Postings there are still active and consistent.
Just because you don't post there Aussie.
Plus, how do you know that things won't get worse, especially when any virus can take its toll on people 'stressed' by an up-coming world war and more. Stress takes its toll on the body and mind of people far worse than drugs and alcohol can.
I wouldn't be surprised if something worse than Covid is around the corner and it might come from a dirty phone call.

Nope, media news of COVID hasn't "run its race".

There are plenty of stories every day if you care to check,
like THIS plus regular Federal government updates HERE.

I am not saying there should be not place to discuss Covid.  What I am saying is there is no longer a need for there to be a special section.

There could be a Thread in Health and Welfare for those who want to keep on about a non issue.

Well its coming across as very valid and important to members compared to Boards that don't even contain relevant topics in them pertaining to their Title themes - Cats & Critters being the prime example.
I think the Corona/Covid Board shouldn't even be considered for change/retirement compared to what needs to be done about 'ruined Boards'.
What say you Aussie?

As Geoff says... Covid isn't a non issue these days despite governments, the media and big business wanting everyone to believe it is (for the economy, of course... peoples' lives and health don't matter anymore as far as they're concerned).

There's still several thousand Covid deaths in the US every week and between 50 and 100 Covid deaths in Australia every week... over 100 deaths in aged care alone since the start of this year (disgraceful).

Oh, and I do find it rather fascinating that Aussie started this thread seeing as he has shown no interest in posting in the Coronavirus section since it was started.

Wouldn't have anything to do with Relationships moving up a position from 5th to 4th in the Member Run Boards if the Coronavirus board was removed, would it?

Better watch out, polite_gandalf, Jas and Bobby - you might be next.

Here's a sneak preview.

They did the same with the Pneumonic Pandemic 100+ years ago. After the initial panic, lockdowns, precautions, etc - within a year or two, it was swept under the rug and not to be spoken of as if it would just go away by itself. 50 million people died because of that. Far more than the World War by double!

So we see again, the same thing happening.
In 'Political & Military' nations - such things as 'Medical Crises' are NOT the priority... unless its to get rid of Trump.

CarlD—please please please ask FD to make you Mod of Coronavirus! Tell him to ban the biggest bullshit artists here.

This is important!

What cases are there?

What deaths are there?

What handicaps are there after ≥2 infections?

You have the patience and dogged persistence to get the figures! Need help with some investigation? Ask me! I will help as best as I am able.

You can hold FD to deleting time wasters like Booby, Jaye, horseboy etc!

I can also see that he really doesn't want to take no for an answer, does he?

How many times has he asked me now? 6? 7?

Well, here's another "no" to add to his collection.

Oh, and it may have been noticed that I haven't been posting much here lately - couple of posts a week at the moment I believe.

I'm aiming to get that number down to zero by the end of the month (and keeping it there permanently).

With the likes of Monk, Smith, Peccary, Brian, Light & LTYC just trolling with repetitious stupidities of just distracting, derailing, abuse and not committing to any real 'discussion' with sensible informative input (regardless if they are wrong) out of respect for the other members.
I'm not surprised that other members have been feeling the same way.
They are in essence mentally ill from 'addicted' repetitious personalities and low character traits - that I believe lower the standards of this Forum and really compromise potential new membership especially in the last 10 years.
It really is the same group always. Mothra trolls, but she is not constantly 'at it' all the time.
No, these lot are not constructive to this Forum at all.

I take your point, but COVID is still very much an "issue".

In the past 7 days, there have been 2,899 new cases
recorded globally.

Of those, 1,484 occurred here in Australia, the highest
in the world (ahead of Macau at 1,097).

How does that compare to cases of other potentially deadly diseases recorded worldwide and in Australia?

Is Australia more vigilant in recording covid cases than other comparable countries?

What percentage of covid deaths recorded were from among those who had multiple comorbidities?

Is covid fear morphing into solely a social contagion like the satanic panic of the 80s in the USA - where the mere recording of reported instances led to hyper-focus on their reporting?

What of vaccine injuries the recording of which most, if not all, Western countries are suppressing, up to and including refusing to debate the issue even in their respective legislatures?

Is there a link between 'covid' heads of government resigning and vaccine injuries?:

Rubbish!
Besides Americans not even being able to live 20 years longer like Castro's Cubans.
America has done everything for itself.
Not for Australia. Not for something like a Commonwealth, unless its there for itself and not for the United Nations.
Besides 'complimentary' Trade.
Australia has done more for America.
If we had sold GrainCorp to America, they would have sunk it after a polite 3 years - to their own advantage and domination of market.
America can not compete fairly. It must destroy the competition. They couldn't even leave Russia alone - they feel they must turn it into another 3rd world nation.

America is the most psychologically insane nation on the planet and it is all their own doing.
A nation that hopes to flee to Mars and leave something worse behind.

British Politics is the truth, American is the lie.
But, like Albanese's ALP now sucking up to the rich media savvy.
Australia sucking up to America because its 'bigger' than Britain, is the illusion that brings about Australia's weakest links in its 'chain', a chain that keeps us disciplined to our 'Convictions'. Too much 'freedom' can be like a death penalty.

Something like a Commonwealth, eh! The British Commonwealth was the consolation prize for Britain's loss of its empire, it was not conceived for the benefit of former imperial possessions but to maintain British projection of power around the world.

The British abandoned Australia to its fate in WW2.

The US defended Australia during WW2 and has protected its interests ever since.

The US protected trade routes that made Australian trade with the world possible.

What has Australia done for the US that the US couldn't do for itself? Supplying actors to Hollywood, who go on to play American-accented characters, maybe?

Australia's future 'cultural' empowerment is 'ART'.
I'm not talking about your Media-Entertainment Celebrity attempt at Art.
I'm talking real ART.
Australian 'Politics' culturally exists here as a sub-British via the Governor-Generals and sub-USA via the Prime Ministers.
Any detachment from these two results in a political de-culturalisation replaced by 'population' growth (Race) only.

Canberra will become the Political version of Disneyland (Art) for the world. Nothing but a place for the 'kiddies' to enjoy.  ;D

Australia's future cultural empowerment will be predicated on the advancement of mainstream Australian values, as inherited from British and Irish cultures and absorbed from American and other Anglosheric and European nation-states, and also increasingly from subcontinental and East Asian cultures.

Australia is nothing like Asia. For starters it is in completely a different region to Asia and probably the most disconnected Regional compared to all others (except Antarctica) with completely different Flora/Fauna and no real  land connection.

Nothing but a place for the 'kiddies' to enjoy.  ;D

Australia's future cultural empowerment is the advancement of mainstream Australian values, as inherited from British and Irish cultures and absorbed from American and other Anglosheric nation-states.

No. Not really.
It's the 'Eastern' Europeans that will constitute the future of this part of the world and in the name of ART.
Western Europeans still hold onto the past (hold onto British/American politics).

It will be subcontinental and East/southeast Asian cultures that will increasingly influence Australian culture.

These days, cultures arrive and make themselves at home via immigrants arriving in their tens of thousands by plane.

Aerial travel - making the cosmos smaller, one planet at a time.

Twenty years ago or so, few Australians who hadn't travelled much would have heard of Diwali, let alone partook in its celebration. Now Australian Mints produce precious-metal coins in its honour, while non-Indian Australians gather in their thousands in parks, on coastlines and river banks to join in on the celebrations.

Everyone likes a party.

You have to forgive Booby and Jaye (“I Robot”) as they were born without a fully functional brain.
